Sport Crew Report
This year the Frimley Sports Team has expanded to include Miss Neighbour, Mr Phillips and a new
Sports Crew, made up of children from Years 5 and 6 who impressed us with their persuasive writ-
ing skills in their letters of application.
Along with the teachers, sports crew have been busy working behind the scenes to continue to de-
velop sport and healthy lifestyles at Frimley. Here is a snapshot of things that they have been up
to, with much more to come in the Summer Term……
Hi everyone, do you like sport? Sports crew is a very grown-up way to plan, help and organise sport.
Joe and I give up our Friday lunchtime to help Mr Philips in his Friday football club. We set up
cones; tell people what to do and help anyone who is stuck. Here in sports crew you basically do a
teacher’s job. If you want to join sports crew, you have to do training sessions at Collingwood or in
Lightwater. All of the sports
crew members in the local area
meet up to play lots of games
and learn how to be a good
sportsman. You also get a free t
-shirt and badge to show you
are a member. We hope to see
lots of year 4s wanting to be in
sports crew next year! By Ben

PE and sport at Frimley
Spring was an incredibly exciting term of sport at Frimley as PE continued to grow across the
school. The children’s engagement and passion for sport and PE is absolutely superb and their
effort, in both PE lessons and in extra-curricular sporting events, has been magnificent all year.
Frimley’s sporting reputation within the community continues to grow and our level of participation
in a variety of Surrey Heath Sports events has been fantastic. Well done to all that have
represented the school so passionately and a huge thank you to all of the parents and volunteers
that help to provide our children with these invaluable sporting opportunities.
As the summer term gets into full swing, many more opportunities sporting opportunities are
available, both during the school day and as part of our extra-curricular provision. We strongly urge

Year 4 tag rugby
For the first half of the spring
term, year 4 participated in
tag rugby, led by coaches from
Premier Sport, during their PE
sessions.
We learnt lots of new skills
during our tag rugby lessons.
We learnt about the
importance of finding space in
rugby, how to pass and tackle
and how to score tries. We
also started to learn about
staying onside.
In the sessions, we were all very active and everyone enjoyed the fun games that the
Year 5 cricket
For the first half of term, we played cricket in our PE lessons. We developed lots of new
skills during the lessons. We were taught how to bat, field and bowl and we learnt the best
techniques for catching, throwing with accuracy and for batting. As well as this, we were
given an important tip to always make sure you are a safe distance away from the stumps
when you are batting so that you don’t get yourself out.
All of the lessons were action packed with many fun games. It was extremely enjoyable and
all of year 5 loved doing cricket in PE.
Cross Country Relays
On Wednesday 21st February, 27 children across all year groups represented the school in the
cross country relays at Ravenscote. From year 3 and 4: Jeremy, Harrison, Nathan, Ben M, Lawson,
Ewan, Charlie E, Charlotte K, Isabella, Isaac, Sophie and Jessica. From year 5 and 6: Nathanael,
Harry F, Megan, Kate, Ben, Reece, Raeleah, Alfie, Nathan, Dylan, Lucas, Thomas B, Frazer, Jamie
and Daniel Y.
All that took part performed brilliantly. Our highest position in the year 5 and 6 race was 4th
(Nathanael, Harry, Megan and Kate) and in the year 3 and 4 race, Ewan, Charlotte, Isabella and
Charlie won bronze medals with a superb performance to finish 3rd. A special mention is most
definitely warranted for Charlotte K from year 4.

Year 6 Netball Festival
On Wednesday 7th March, we took part in the
Year 6 netball festival at Connaught Junior
School. It was a fantastic tournament with 2
groups and it ended with a final.
We played 6 games in total. We won 4 games
and drew 2 of them. Unfortunately, we came
second in our group which meant we missed
out on qualifying for the final. This was
really disappointing especially because one of
our wins came against the eventual winners.
Despite this, it was a great opportunity to work
Sport Relief
From Monday 19th March to Friday 23rd March, Frimley was bursting with activity. Each
year group took part in a dodgeball tournament, the hall was the destination for some
stunning dance moves each break time, children and staff skipped, hula hooped, boogied and
showed off their footie skills at lunchtimes, the whole school took part in a gruelling fitness
marathon on Friday morning and families and friends joined us for the family mile on the
Friday afternoon. What a week!
The whole school’s enthusiasm was magnificent and it was brilliant to see so many children
involved in sport and physical activities during the week. Most importantly, it was great to
see so many children having so much fun– all in support of Sport Relief.
As always, the support of families at Frimley was incredible and the enthusiasm and support

It was an energetic, sporty week at Frimley with lots of fun and exciting activities.
As sport crew, it was great working collaboratively together to help organise all of the
events. It felt really good to be part of the events and to help other children to have
fun. The best part of the week was seeing so many children in the school getting
involved and inspired by sport.
