Engineering and Science Services has the pleasure to offer the following Professional Programs:

Professional Program Requirements

Each of the above professional programs includes six (6) courses divided between required and elective courses. Each course

is 45 hours of instruction. Candidates must complete the required courses. A candidate in one program may take two courses

as an elective from the list of courses offered in other professional programs.

To complete the requirements of any of the professional programs, the candidate must successfully complete the six courses.

To earn two professional certificates, 12 courses must be completed. At the end of some of these programs, the candidate

must present an acceptable final project. The certificate requirements can be completed in two semesters (one year), but

candidates may take up to three years to complete the certificate requirements. Some professional programs are also

available via e-learning.

Method of Instruction

Course material is in English; however, a mix of English and Arabic instruction is used in classes to facilitate communication

between instructors and course participants. Courses blend a variety of instructional tools including case studies, interactive

discussions, visual aids and practical sessions.

Blackboard

All participants enrolled in ESS professional programs are entitled to access a Blackboard account. Blackboard is a web-

based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty members to communicate and use online

materials and activities that complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard allows faculty to add resources for students

online to enhance teaching and learning.

Online Courses

Method of Instruction ESS online courses use the leading Blackboard web-based course management system as the platform for instruction. This system is used worldwide by universities and allows students and faculty to interact within a highly interactive learning environment. ESS courses feature online materials and modern communication technologies such as email, discussion boards, wikis and blogs. This asynchronous learning environment provides participants with the flexibility to study anywhere, at any time. Participants may contact ESS to receive technical assistance and guidance.

Application Upon completion of registration, participants will be issued an AUC ID number and email address. The ESS will provide

participants with their email login details, and further information regarding online registration and fee payment will be

provided to participants via email.

Course and Emergency Notices • ESS will cancel any course that does not have the minimum number of participants. In that case, participants May choose to have the course tuition and fees refunded or applied towards the tuition and fees of another Course during any semester. • ESS may change a listed instructor when necessary. • In case of emergencies ESS courses may temporarily be held through Blackboard sessions.

Registration Time and Fees

The registration fee for each program is indicated on the schedule (Egyptian pounds for Egyptians and U.S. dollars for non-Egyptians). The fees may be paid in cash or by a check payable to The American University in Cairo. Letters of

authorization from companies and organizations are acceptable.

Registration will be held for returning participants from December 07 to 11, 2014 and for new participants from December 14 to 18, 2014. One personal photo is required for applicants to receive their IDs.

Payment Information

Fees may be paid at any of the CIB branches listed within this schedule. Please provide ESS with a copy of the payment receipt by email to [email protected] as a confirmation. The fees may be paid by credit cards at both ESS locations:

AUC Tahrir Square and AUC New Cairo.

Policies

Refund Policy

Refunds are made according to the following schedule:

Before the beginning of classes: full tuition refund

From the first week of classes until the end of the second week: fifty percent of tuition

By the end of the third week : no refunds will be made

The refund request should be supported by the original receipt, course material and a copy of the national ID. Refunds are

processed within a month of receiving a request, and the participant will receive a check in their name for the refund amount.

Drop and Add Policy

Participants may drop or transfer classes until February 21, 2015.

Incomplete Policy

Participant who drop a course after one month from the beginning of the semester, or those who may face situations beyond

their control, may be assigned an "I" grade (incomplete) upon approval by ESS & course instructor. Each case is carefully

reviewed and participant should present documentation to justify their case. Those will have to pay drop fees of (25% of the

course tuition), and they must complete their course in the following semester. Other courses cannot be substituted for an

incomplete course.

Participants who drop a course (stop attending) without informing the ESS office in writing will receive

an F in the course.

*Deadline for incomplete request May 16, 2015.

Study Period Extension

Participants are initially provided with a three year study period. However, participants who face circumstances or situations

beyond their control may receive a study period extension. Participants who would like to receive an extension should

present documentation to ESS in order to justify their case. Each case will be closely examined by ESS. Participants who

have been approved for an extension will be able to study for an additional semester.

ESS ID

An ESS ID card allows the participants to enter any of AUC’s campuses and the AUC library for using only.

(Issuing ID is Elective not Obligatory).

The cost of issuing an ID card for the first time is L.E. 50 (non-refundable) paid on the registration of the courses

by the trainee whatever individuals or nominated through corporate. The ID will be renewed at no extra cost for

subsequent semesters.

ESS IDs are issued from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. from Sundays through Thursdays at either the ESS New Cairo or

Tahrir Square office. Special arrangements can be made for issuing the ID on Saturdays in Coordination with ESS

Dept.

It’s not necessary to bring a personal photo. The ID center will take a picture on-site and issue the ID instantly.

The Smart ID Card must be carried at all times. The card is NOT TRANSFERABLE. Card holders should not lend

the ID to another individual for any purpose.

A lost, stolen or damaged card must be reported to ESS. The participant will have to re-pay the fees of issuing a

new ID.

وتأجيل المواد في البرامج التخصصية

1 - شروط استرداد المصروفات

ج أو مالسادة المهندسين المشتركين في البرامج التخصصية بوحدة الخدمات الهندسية و العلمية الراغبين في إلغاء التسجيل أو االنسحاب من برنا

يمكنهم استرداد المصروفات طبقا للشروط التالية:مواد

االنسحاب قبل بداية الدراسة يمكن استرداد المصروفات كاملة

فقط من قيمة المصروفات %05يمكن إسترداد لثانياإلنسحاب في الفترة من بداية الدراسة وحتى نهاية األسبوع ا.

مد فوعه . في بداية األسبوع الثالث ال يمكن استرداد أي مبالغ

تسليم اإليصال االصلي، الكارنيه و المادة العلمية لوحدة الخدمات الهندسية و العلمية. في حالة إلغاء أو تقديم طلب مع يتم صرف المبالغ المستردة بعد شهر من

د قيمة المصروفات كاملة أو يمكن استخدامها في تأجيل أي من المقررات من قبل وحدة الخدمات الهندسية و العلمية لعدم اكتمال عدد الدارسين يمكن استردا

2 - االنسحاب من برنامج

(CADE) التطبيقات الهندسية للحاسب اآللي •

(CLAC) دية في صناعه التشييد والبناءالدراسات التعاق •

(CNPH) التغذية اإلكلينيكية •

(EVEN) هندسة البيئة •

(OSHA)األمان الصناعي و الصحة المهنية و حماية البيئة •

(PACT) البرنامج المهني في إدارة العقود الدولية وعقود التشييد •

(PCEM) الشهادة الدولية للهندسة اإلدارية •

(PRMG) إدارة المشروعات •

(REST) خبراء التقييم العقاري •

(WLEN) هندسة اللحام •

الشهادة التخصصية:

جميع الشهادات التخصصية المذكورة أعاله تتكون من ستة مناهج دراسية مقسمه بين مناهج إجبارية. يجب أن يتمها أي من الدارسين

ساعة 20مقبوال. مدة أي من المواد فصل دراسي واحد وهذا يكافئ وإختيارية يختارها الدارس حسب تخصصه ورغبته مع تقديم مشروعا

أسلوب الدراسة:

وتنتقى تستخدم النظم الحديثة في المحاضرات والمناقشات والدراسات التطبيقية والتدريبات العملية على الحاسب اآللي لتغطية المناهج الدراسية.

اللغة المذكرات من أحدث المراجع وهى عادة باللغة اإلنجليزية على أن تلقى المحاضرات بخليط من اللغتين العربية واإلنجليزية حتى ال تكون

عائقا في سبيل التحصيل.

يبدأ التسجيل للدارسين المسجلين من 7-22 ديسمبر 1522 ومن 22-21 ديسمبر 1522 للدارسين الجدد يومياً من الساعة التاسعة صباحاً وحتي

الثالثة ظهراً عدا يومي الجمعة والسبت علي أن تبدأ الدراسة في 12 يناير 1520 وتنتهي في 21 مايو 1520.
