Tokheim is proud to announce the launch of a new business unit, dedicated to tank gauges and wetstock management solutions, called Tokheim ProGauge. These innovative and state of the art solutions are based on a new set of Tokheim engineered products including consoles, probes and associated software. The announcement follows acquisition of a leading European wetstock solutions provider, Start Italiana, in November 2013.

Kurt Dillen, General Manager of Tokheim Systems and Electronic Business Unit (SEBU), says, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Tokheim ProGauge and expand our existing wetstock management solutions for service stations and commercial fleet sites. We have more than 25 years experience in developing our own wetstock software via Fuel POS as well as supporting the integration of a number of third party tank level gauges with Tokheim’s system. This experience in marketing, installing and maintaining all types of third party level gauge products has helped Tokheim to define a best in class future product roadmap regarding level gauges and controllers.”

Tokheim ProGauge software applications aim to help customers to improve the profitability of their wetstock management and ensure theft or fraud is detected. The new systems also provide accurate measurement of alternative fuels, water, density and temperature. The Tokheim ProGauge products will be capable of smart communication with a range of forecourt controllers or POS/BOS, as well as fully integrating with the Tokheim portfolio of systems solutions.

These new wetstock systems are designed to operate in close relationship with the fuel management solutions offered by Fairbanks, a partner company of Tokheim.

Baudouin de la Tour, Tokheim CEO, says, “This is a statement of intent from Tokheim. We are firmly committed to providing a complete solution to clients and we identified that this was a key strategic area that we wished to develop. Clients will not only benefit from a range of new products but also the expertise of our project management, installation and maintenance teams around the world.”

Tokheim’s growth in installation of new products and continued presence at networking events across Latin America has been evident over the last 6 months. A number of diverse new projects were completed in the region.

In Argentina, YPF a leading oil company with more than 1,500 stations selected Tokheim’s Quantium 410 dispensers for the development of a site in the city of Bahía Blanca. The high-spec, multi-product dispensers come with integrated TQC VGA media screens for an improved customer experience.

In Chile, DiaLOG fuel management systems have been installed on sites in Sotraser and Nazar. These projects will utilize Tokheim ProGauge tank level gauges for wetstock management control.

In Costa Rica, Tokheim attended the “IV Congreso Nacional de Empresarios del Combustible”. Around 150 members of the Professional House Fuel visited the conference at which the latest Quantium dispensers were showcased. It was a successful event for the local team with a number of new customers and partnerships agreed for the future.

Tokheim’s revolutionary TQC dispenser calculator is celebrating a significant milestone. 20,000 TQC calculators are now installed in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and, more recently, in Latin America. In fact the very first TQC installed is still running smoothly on its initial software version. The TQC was the first calculator to connect the dispenser to outside world via TCP-IP. This smart calculator has been constantly updated and utilises the latest technology in terms of communication and performance. It allows fuel to be managed more efficiently, reduces the chances of fraud and helps service stations engage with their customers more easily. Almost 20% of installations have upgraded to the 17-inch TQC VGA media device to help promote services and products at the dispenser. TQC and its features have strongly contributed in winning a number of dispenser tenders in recent years and it is now offered as standard to oil companies and independent customers around the world.

Tokheim is proud to announce that the installed base of the Crypto VGA outdoor payment solution has now passed 10% of total market share in France. Since its launch in France in April 2012, several hundred stations have migrated to the PCI compatible platform, quickly establishing it as the industry standard for outdoor payment.

Eric Penault, Marketing Manager from SSD France says, “One of the reasons Crypto VGA is a popular solution is because of its innovation and flexibility. The all-in-one touchscreen and pin-pad is not only innovative and modern but it is easier for customers to use, and allows additional items such as mileage to be inputted on the same screen. In France, the solution interfaces to the major banks and it handles all types of payment including traditional forms such as credit/debit and fuel cards as well as new technologies such as RFID and Smartphone payment. Clients can also choose options like an inbuilt barcode reader allowing for example, to use with prepaid vouchers, coupons, to help increase customer loyalty.”

According to Penault, the security aspect is key to future-proofing the application. He says, “Customers want to be sure that their payment solution utilises the latest security standards and there is a future development path. Our customers have peace of mind that Crypto VGA is already certified to 2020 with the highest Payment Card Industry (PCI) levels, PCI PTS UPT. We constantly add additional security tools in our software and hardware developments, and that’s important for our clients.”

PetroGabon selectsPetrol ManagerPetroGabon, a leading African oil company, has selected Tokheim’s Petrol Manager to help remotely manage the fuel activities for its service stations. The solution provides alerts, day reports, and gives an exact overview of how much fuel is stored in the tanks. The initial installation will cover a handful of sites with the potential to expand the system in the future.

Tokheim France and Circontrol sign EV Charger agreement

Tokheim and Circontrol have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of electrical vehicle (EV) charging solutions for the French marketplace. Circontrol, a global EV charging solutions provider, will partner with Tokheim on developing EV chargers for the fuel retail environment.

Tokheim and Circontrol have partnered for more than two years in providing EV charger solutions. The latest terminals will include the flagship Trio range of ultrafast EV chargers. The Trio range allows charging via the three global recharge methods (AC / COMBO 2/CHAdeMO ) so that it can be used by all types of electric vehicles. This ultra-fast charging unit ensures it take less than 10 minutes to recharge a vehicle.

Enviem choose Tokheim’spayment solutions

Enviem, a Dutch oil company that operates almost 400 sites across the Netherlands, has chosen Tokheim as its partner to install Tokheim’s retail automation and outdoor payment terminals on its network. Enviem operates 285 unmanned sites under the TinQ brand and a further 95 sites with manned shops are branded as Gulf. On the unmanned network Tokheim’s Fuel Homebase is to be installed to connect with other systems including outdoor payment, dispensers, CCTV, tank level gauges, price-signs, and car wash. Tokheim’s Fuel POS is to be installed on the busy retail sites of Gulf and more than 50 Crypto VGA terminals will offer end users the ability to pay outdoors on the forecourt.

Fairbanks, Tokheim’s wetstock analysis partner, have further expanded their operations. Member of Parliament (MP), Rosie Cooper, officially opened Fairbanks’ new offices in Northern England, situated opposite the existing premises. Her visit marked a successful 12 months for the company, which has also been awarded Business of the Year for Lancashire after doubling the size of its operation. Fairbanks also reached the milestone of providing services to 10,000 stations across 36 countries including some of those of BP, Tesco, Morrison’s and Shell.

On her visit, Cooper, the West Lancashire MP, said, “I watched as the staff monitored petrol stations around the world for some of the biggest national and international names in the industry. Fairbanks is a real success story. The company’s growth in 2013 was phenomenal, securing large contracts around the globe. We need more companies like Fairbanks in West Lancashire that are innovative, forward-looking and committed to investing in their staff and the local community. It’s not a surprise they are a multi-award winning company based on what I saw during my visit. I wish the company and its staff continued success for 2014.”

Case Study:Preventing Fuel Theft

Carleton Filling Station is located close to Carlisle, North England. It is operated by Hills of Corby Hill ltd who run all 12 BP branded sites in Cumbria. The site had been targeted for fuel theft on a previous location, after which it chose to install a “Sudden Loss” detection feature from Fairbanks.

On the 29th of December 2013 the site closed at 22.00. At 23.50 the thieves targeted the tanks again, but this time the site had the loss detection system in place. At 00.06, a sudden loss alarm was raised via SMS alert to the Company Director, Michael Collins, who contacted the police immediately. The police arrived within minutes to find a truck onsite with a pumping unit removing fuel from the tanks. By that stage 1,500 litres of fuel had been pumped from the tanks, however the vehicle belonging to the thieves had a container with a capacity of 5,000 litres onboard.

The criminals escaped by foot, but police are continuing their investigations. Although there has yet to be any prosecutions, the cost-effective solution from Fairbanks saved the service station €9,000 in potential losses from this one incident.

Stiglechner has further expanded its outdoor payment facilities through Crypto VGA across its Austrian network. Founded more than 80 years ago, Julius Stiglechner GmbH, today has 70 IQ stations and 80 Shell stations across Austria. The organisation first introduced Tokheim’s Crypto VGA outdoor payment solution in 2011 to accept a range of bank and fuel cards including Stiglechner’s private fleet card. The Stiglechner card is accepted at partner sites in other countries, all facilitated via Tokheim’s OASE online authorization server environment.

In mid 2013, Stiglechner began work with Tokheim to expand the functionality of the Crypto VGA to allow it to accept Shell fuel cards at the outdoor terminals. This new solution authroises the transactions at Shell’s central LCASS host. Tokheim partnered with Shell’s preferred card processor in Austria to develop an online host-to-host connection. It routes payment from the Tokheim Crypto VGA terminal through Tokheim’s switching server, OASE, then through the Austrian card processor host, and finally on to the Shell LCASS end-host.Despite its complexity the project was successfully implemented, tested and deployed within 6 months – “going live” in time for Christmas.

Q8 selects Quantium dispensers for their Belgian motorway sitesQ8 has selected Tokheim to deliver and install 70 fuel dispensers on all their motorway sites in Belgium. After a rigorous tender process, the Quantium range of dispensers was chosen by Q8. The majority of fuel dispensers are Tokheim’s Quantium 510 multi-product dispensers. A number of high-speed Quantium fuel

dispensers have also been installed. To help distribute alternative fuels such as LPG, several LPG combo dispensers have been installed.

Tokheim’s direct sales and service divisions continuously work with a team of global engineers to tailor solutions to local requirements. One recent example is the development of an anti-fraud solution in the commercial market in the Netherlands. The use of “Red Gasoil/Diesel” – whereby a red dye is added to differentiate fuels destined for use in the commercial industry (e.g. excavators, agri-vehicles) at a lower excise duty - in the Netherlands was recently revoked. For vehicles that work at one location for a prolonged period of time, a so-called IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) with diesel is placed on-site. The vehicles there can use this diesel without having to leave the site. Normally, a pump and nozzle are installed in the IBC, but a registration system has not traditionally been used. Due to the disappearance of Red Gasoil, the IBC contains regular diesel, which is not traceable in the tank. But today, partly due to the high price of diesel, the IBCs have become an easy target for fraud. Tokheim has introduced a solution in the Netherlands, whereby a DiaLOG FMS is installed at the IBC to help secure the contents. The DiaLOG can also be equipped with SmartFuel, a vehicle identification solution, for optimal security. To further protect Tokheim can install an anti-syphon system so that it will no longer possible to suck fuel out of the tank through the fuel inlet. Tokheim has installed several IBCs this year and is expecting more orders on short term to help deal with this latest area of fraud.

Van Reeth Tankstations – Ready for the future

Van Reeth Tankstations, an independent station network of 16 sites in Belgium, has selected Tokheim as their partner for the future.

All existing sites will be equipped with new Fuel POS systems, and Tokheim’s outdoor payment solutions: Slimtouch Crypto VGA, which can connect to multiple dispensers, and the Crypto bank note acceptor (BNA).

Tokheim Quantium dispensers with automatic temperature compensation will replace older dispensers on certain sites. After the roll-out of the new systems Van Reeth Tankstations will be able to use additional host and payment functionalities such as OASE, Petrol Manager, Online FuelCard, and Online Loyalty.

Salland Olie, one of the largest independent suppliers of fuels and lubricants in the Netherlands, has selected Tokheim’s POS systems in combination with Crypto VGA on their sites. Salland Olie had previously used Tokheim’s products on a large part of their network and chose Tokheim’s Fuel POS after a number of years of successful partnership. Salland Olie, which operates under the Texaco and Firezone brands, is initially replacing the POS systems on their BSP (Business Service Point) sites, which are specially set up for transportation vehicles. In the second phase, Salland Olie will replace the remaining POS systems on their unmanned Firezone network.
