What and where is the injury ?
WHAT:
Partial tearing of the ligament
Ankle joint is examined and moved incertain ways, abnormal looseness (laxity) of the ankle joint occurs
Your ligaments are partially torn
WHERE:
Lateral part of the ankle

Initial Signs & Symptoms
Moderate to severe pain
Swelling and stiffness
Minor bruising may be evident
Decreased range of motion
Possible instability
Inability to walk in a normal fashion

Treatments RICE (2 days)
Rest Ice Compression Elevation
Range of motion exercises
Stretching/Strengthening exercises
Follow up with icing (pain and swelling goes away)
Immobilization with air splint

Prognosis
Grade 1 or 2 – 2-6 weeks, sometimes more depends if you’re doing your treatments and exercises. Your doctor will do a follow up and trainer to see how you are doing.
