Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. Millsaps enters today’s game with a 1-4 overall record and an 0-2 mark in SCAC games after last Saturday’s 35-21 home loss to Rose-Hulman. After opening with a 24-23 win over Concordia-Selma, the Majors have dropped four straight to Belhaven, Huntingdon, Centre and Rose-Hulman. DePauw is 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the SCAC following a 7-3 home win over Rhodes. Fol- lowing a season-opening loss to unbeaten Wesley, the Tigers have reeled off wins against Hope, Chicago, Sewanee and Rhodes. DePauw has won six straight SCAC games. With its next victory, DePauw will become just the 19th Division III program to record 500 wins. In 118 seasons, DePauw teams have posted a 499- 450-40 record for a .525 winning percentage. SCOUTING MILLSAPS The Majors entered the season with one of the youngest teams in the SCAC and currently have nine freshmen in the starting lineup. Millsaps enters today’s game with the fifth- ranked offense in the SCAC behind quarterback Bill Bob Orsagh. Orsagh has completed just under 45 percent of his passes for 619 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but has been picked off six times. His top receiver is Matt Foisy with 15 catches for 302 yards. Tyson Roy, an all-SCAC first team run- ning back as a freshman in 2004, leads the team with 53.0 rushing yards per game with Eryc Lorino next with 51.4. Center Cornell Phillps, an all-SCAC first teamer last year, anchors an offensive line that averages over 280 pounds. Defensively, Ray Kline leads the team with 40 tackles with Ross Rutledge and Ronnie Wheat to- taling 32 and 31, respectively. Rutledge and David Cutter each have recorded 4.5 tackles for loss with Casey Younger, Cutter and Cedric Lawrence each totaling two sacks. The Tigers’ rushing offense ranks 26th in Di- vision III with an average of 226 yards per game. Jeremiah Marks paces the team with an average of 108.6 yards per game and 10 rushing touchdowns. He ranks 12th in Division III with 12.0 points per game and 42nd in rushing yards per contest. Dorrius Ford chips in 58 yards per contest and quarterback Ross Wiethoff averages 41.8. Wiethoff has completed 50.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and 616 yards for an efficiency rating of 119.53. Brian Culp has caught a team-high 16 passes for 204 yards, while Chase Jonason is next with 12 grabs for 181 yards. The Tigers rank seventh in the nation in scoring defense (11.0), eighth in pass efficiency defense (78.7) and 15th in total defense (245.2). DePauw has allowed just 6.0 points per game during the four-game win streak. Aaron Key leads the team with 36 total tackles and 3.0 sacks. Curran Clark follows with 32 tackles with Greg Sylvester adding 30. Dustin Hertel paces the squad with 7.5 tackles for loss, while Greg Syl- vester and Andrew Huff have each picked off two passes this season. DePauw hosts Millsaps in the second of three consecutive home games on Saturday, October 22. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. Millsaps enters today’s game with a 1-4 overall record and an 0-2 mark in SCAC games after last Saturday’s 35-21 home loss to Rose-Hulman. TIGERS TOUGH IN THE RED ZONE DePauw has converted 18 of its 24 red zone opportunities this season with turnovers ending three of the unsuccessful drives and missed field goals ending two. Defensively, the Tigers have held opponents to just a 54.5 percent (6-11) success rate in the red zone. Two of the unsuccessful drives ended in missed field goals with the other three ending on downs.

DEPAUW INDIVIDUAL NOTES Ross Wiethoff enters the game ranked eighth in DePauw history with 1,708 career rushing yards, 10th with 2,689 passing yards and fifth with 4,397 total yards ... Wiethoff is the only player in DePauw history to rush for over 1,500 yards and throw for over 2,000 ... Jeremiah Marks, in just 14 career games, ranks 11th in school history with 1,465 rushing yards ... Marks has topped the 100-yard mark in eight of those 14 games including four this season. He tied the school record with four consecutive 100-yard games and ranks in a tie for third in career 100-yard performances ... Marks needs just three more rushing touchdowns to break the DePauw single-season record.

DEPAUW TEAM NOTES The Tigers have held three straight opponents to single-digit scoring for the first time since the final three games of the 1997 season. The last time a DePauw team limited four straight opponents to single-digit scoring was over the first four games of the 1980 season when they allowed just 16 points in those four ... DePauw has allowed just 55 points in

the first five games for the first time since the 1990 team allowed just 52 in its first five contests.

HERTEL EARNS WEEKLY HONORS Dustin Hertel was named SCAC co-Defensive Player of the Week for the Rhodes game and was also chosen to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Hertel totaled a career-high 12 tackles includ-ing three tackles for 18 yards in losses and one sack. He also recorded his first collegiate interception and added a hurry that led to an interception.

LEADING THE SCAC Not only do the Tigers share the lead atop the SCAC standings, but they also lead the conference in several statistical categories. DePauw leads the SCAC in scoring defense, pass defense, rushing offense, total defense, pass efficiency defense and red zone defense.

REVIEWING THE 2004 MEETING DePauw scored five rushing touchdowns and the defense held the host Majors to just 225 yards on the way to a 38-7 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Millsaps. The Majors entered the contest with the conference’s top scoring de-fense. Jeremiah Marks led DePauw with 86 yards on 20 carries and added two touchdowns, while Matt McMahon, Ross Wiethoff and John Michels each ran for one score in the victory. The Tigers scored on all three of its first-half possessions, while the DePauw defense limited the Majors to only 75 yards in the first 30 minutes. McMahon’s 1-yard run with 6:27 left in the first put the Tigers on the board first and Marks made it 14-0 on a 2-yard run early in the second that capped a 17-play, 65-yard series. Wiethoff then scored on a 13-yard run with just 33 seconds left in the half to make it 21-0. The Majors opened the second half by recover-ing an onside kick and proceeded to score on Tyson Roy’s 2-yard run with 11:04 left in the third. Tyler Mallory’s 36-yard field goal with 14:54 left in the game made it 24-7. Brendan Berrigan recovered Roy’s fumble on the Millsaps 21 on the Majors’ first play of the next series. Marks carried three straight times including the final 11 yards for the score that pushed the Tigers lead to 31-7 with 13:01 left. DePauw linebacker Matt Koch intercepted Mike Dean’s pass at the Majors’ 39 and Michels got the call three straight times with the final covering 26 yards and making it 38-7 with 9:31 left. The DePauw defense stopped Millsaps at the DePauw 5 when Obinna Ugokwe picked off Ray-mece Savage’s third down pass with just 4:12 left. The Tigers totaled 367 yards to Millsaps’ 230 with 221 coming on the ground. In addition to Marks’ 86 yards, Michels added a career-high 56 and MacMahon finished with 51. Wiethoff completed 13 of 17 passes for 137 yards. Jamarcus Shephard caught seven passes for 99 yards and extended his streak of games with a reception to 27. Roy finished with 61 yards in 14 carries for Millsaps and caught

three passes for 37 yards. Koch and Aaron Key were credited with three tackles each for DePauw. Key, Forest Andrews and Ian MacLeod each had one sack for the Tigers. Marshall Brown led Millsaps with eight stops.
