TENNIS Rafael Nadal is an excellent Spanish tennis player. He has won 14 Grand Slam tournaments, 9 editions of the Roland Garros tournament and in 2 cases the Wimbledon Championships. Furthermore, he won the gold medal with Spain in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is considered the best tennis player in the world. In Spain is celebrated the MUTUA MADRID OPEN, an importan tennis tournament. This event is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000. It takes place in Madrid and is played in the pavilion called “Caja Mágica”, on a clay surface.

Handball• THE SPANISH HANDBALL TEAM, is a
participant in official competitions organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Handball Federation (IHF) and the European Handball Federation (EHF).
• The greatest successes in the history of the Spanish selection were with their victories in in the World 2005 held in Túnez and eight years later, at the World Cup 2013 held in Spain.
• The most famous team in our city is “REALE ADEMAR DE LEÓN”, which has got many National Titles. Besides, one of our partners from Comenius Project, Gonzalo, is a participant of this team.
The VolleyballVolleyball is a sport played all over Spain and also in their highschools.

The most famous Spanish player is Pau Gasol who plays in the NBA league with his brother Marc GasolPau plays in the Chicago Bulls team, he became the second Spanish playing in the NBA after Fernando Martín. He has won 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in all his career as basketball player. His little brother Marc, however, has been proclaimed world champion in 2006 and twice olympic runner-up in Pekín 2008 and in London 2012
