Abacus Light Control System -Our solution to low lightpollution

Specific to the Challenger®1 range of sports lighting, the Abacus Light Control System consists of a series ofcomplementary measures to effectively control the keyelements of obtrusive light; namelyupward light, glare and overspill.

ULORUpward Light OutputRatio

The % of upward light produced is given at the stated elevation (maximum working elevation of the floodlight).

Efficient Optical Systems

Precision reflector systems ensure tight beam control,which reduce overspill and direct light only where it isneeded, on the playing surface!

Anti Glare Baffle

An internal anti glare baffle re-directs upward stray light backinto the main beam to boostperformance. At angles above themain beam the internal baffle alsoeliminates direct lamp glare.

Overspill

The flow of light spillingoutside the locationboundary. With inadequate controlintrusive light may besufficiently great as toprovide a serious nuisanceand disturbance toadjacent areas

Glare

Discomfort Glare maycause annoyance to theviewer if inadequatescreening of the floodlightsis not provided.

Sky Glow (Direct Upward Light)The general term for the Halo-effect caused by upwardly directed light, forming a glow in the night sky. The upwardly directed light can be caused by directwaste light from floodlightsor reflected light from thesports surface.

The Abacus Plus-10 plans offer your club more than other‘similar’ plans available. Abacus takes a proactive, not reactive

approach to maintenance, we offer a comprehensiveprogramme which maintains your Abacus system for the

10 year term of the agreement.

Included in the Abacus Plus-10 plans are:4 Regular floodlight cleaning and alignment checking

4 Replacement of prematurely failed lamps

4 Regular electrical test and inspection report

4 Regular mast and foundation preventative maintenance

4 Regular illuminance check in accordance with BS EN 12193:1999
