The X Football Club were an amateur football club based in Battersea, Wandsworth, London, and were one of the leading clubs in English football in the 1860s and 1870s. They are most notable for having won the first ever FA Cup final, in 1872, and the competition another four times during the rest of the 1870s. Many clubs have adopted "X" as a suffix in their name, directly or indirectly inspired by the X FC name. Id club?

***Proximus _______ Games is a professional Tennis tournament held in Antwerp, Belgium. The tournament prides itself on giving a very distinct 'trophy' to any player that wins the singles three times in five years. Amelie Mauresmo won this distinct 'trophy' in 2007. The 'trophy' was slightly modified in 2008, but the conditions for winning are the same. Justine Henin won the tournament this year. What is this 'trophy' we are talking about?

The 1987 NFL season was the 68th regular season of the National Football League. A 24-day players' strike reduced the 16-game season to 15. The games that were scheduled for the third week of the season were canceled, but the games for weeks 4-6 were played with ___________ players. 85% of the veteran players did not cross picket lines during the strike, putting in question the integrity of the 1987 season results. Fans tagged the ___________ player teams with mock names like "San Fransisco Phoney Niners", "New Orleans Saint Elsewheres" and "Seattle Sea-scabs." This formed the basis of a movie starring Keanu Reeves. Id movie.

Niños de las campanas (Children of the bells)Music by Luis Alberto SpinettaWords by X
The children of the bells are dancingAnd there´s a pretty sound of joyIn every word of love they´re sayingThey know that sorrow time is gone
I didn´t think about youI only come from far to love you
The children of the bells are loversThey never lose the magic smileThe rainbow never ends inside meAnd the children play with golden toys
How could I dream without you?How can I find a place where play your bells? How could I dream without you?How can I find a place where play your bells?
The children of the bells are hidingThey´re running through my head foreverWhen life will give me signs, new wandersThe children of the bells will can
I don´t belong to me anymoreMy life is always where you want me nowI don´t belong to me anymoreMy life is always where you want me now
I didn´t think about youI only come from far to love youChildren of the bells X?

Many people incorrectly recall that the X won the gold medal that night. In fact, the medal round was a round-robin, not a single elimination format like it is today. Under Olympic rules at the time, the group game with Sweden was counted along with the medal round games versus the Y and Finland so it was mathematically possible for X to finish anywhere from 1st to 4th. Needing to win to secure the gold medal, X came back from a 2-1 _____ ______ deficit to defeat Finland 4–2. What is being spoken about?

***Uton X was a well-built fast bowler who made a good debut, taking 4 for 69 against India at Kensington Oval but failed to impress thereafter. Prone to being wildly erratic, he was mauled by Keith Stackpole to such an extent in the Jamaican Test of 1971-72 that the crowd erected a series of banners proclaiming an 11th commandment: "X _____ ___ ____." Id X and what was the banner.

This is Rhys Jones. He was a life time supporter of Everton F.C. He played for ‘The Fir Tree Boys’ club. While returning from practice he was shot in mysterious circumstances. As a tribute, Liverpool F.C did something unprecedented. Rhys Jones mother even commented – “This is tremendous gesture. I am sure Rhys is enjoying this. And he will be smiling, knowing that he was the cause of this.” What was this gesture?

X is by far Russia's most successful female gymnast since the break-up of the Soviet Union. Not only is she the winner of several world championship and Olympic medals, she is famous (or infamous) for her attitude: she posed for the Russian edition of Playboy; she rejoiced in being considered the ultimate gymnastic diva; at the 2000 Olympics she refused to re-attempt her vaults in the All-Around competition (having fallen on her first attempt) after it became clear that the apparatus had been set at the wrong height. South Africa were due to tour England in 1970. As South Africa had just whitewashed the unofficial world champions, Australia, four-nil at home, the series was eagerly awaited amongst cricket fans. However, the tour faced widespread opposition from some opponents of the racist apartheid regime then prevailing in South Africa. A Stop the 1970 Tour campaign was started, with its leaders including Peter Hain. In response there was a Save the 1970 Tour campaign, whose leaders included former England cricket captain, Brian Close. Enormous political pressure was put on the Test and County Cricket Board, who ran English cricket at the time, to pull out of the tour. In the end, they yielded, but this meant that if they did not do anything, there would be no international cricket in England in 1970, with the concomitant loss of revenues. They came up with a short lived concept, that had a sort of revival recently. What?

X was considered by Y as the bargain of the century. But X and Y shared a chequered relationship. In one match, X let in 3 goals, after his team was 3-0 up. Y considered sacking him. X later apologized to his teammates, which was overheard by Y. Y decided to keep X and then, as they say is history. X and Y have tremendous respect for each other now. What is this saga all about?

X is the son of Sir Oswald, who had been a Labour minister, and a Member of Parliament for both the Conservative and Labour parties in the 1920s. By the 1930s, Sir Oswald had left mainstream politics and become the leader of the British Union of Fascists (BUF). X's mother was Sir Oswald's second wife, Diana Mitford, with whom Oswald was married in a secret wedding, with Adolf Hitler as a guest of honour, at the home of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels in Berlin. Hotel entrepreneur Caspar Badrutt successfully sold the idea of winter resorting, as well as rooms with food, drink, and activities. His more adventurous English guests began adapting delivery boys' sleds for recreation, which led to collisions with pedestrians as they sped down the lanes and alleys of the village. This had two outcomes: in the short term the guests began to devise methods of steering the sleds and hence came about X which later expanded to Y. And in the long term, in the interests of pedestrian safety invented Z. Id X, Y, Z.

In the late 1940s X was approached by Tibby Wegner, an Austrian footballer who had invented an anti-perspirant device worn around the wrist. X made a few changes and invented the sweatband. Wegner's next idea was to produce a sports shirt which was to be made from white knitted cotton pique with short sleeves and buttons down the front. Launched at Wimbledon in 1952, the X polo shirt was an immediate success. The brand is best known for its laurel logo, which appears on the left breast of the tennis shirts. The laurel logo (based on the old Wimbledon symbol) was stitched into the fabric of the shirt instead of merely ironed on (as was the case with the crocodile logo of the competing Lacoste brand). Capablanca Chess is a chess variant, named after its inventor Jose Raul Capablanca. He proposed this variant while he was world champion, not as a "sour grapes" rationalization after losing his title. Capablanca thought that chess would be played out in a few decades, that games between chess grandmasters would always end in a draw. This danger of "draw death" was a main motivation for him to create his own version of chess. What is the variation?

***The Battle of the X is an informal name given to a figure skating rivalry between East German Katarina Witt and American Debi Thomas during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. The competition is so named because both Witt and Thomas independently elected to skate to the music of Bizet's 1875 opera X in their respective long programs. Both skaters had performed very well at the 1987 World Figure Skating Championships (Witt won, with Thomas placing a close second), so it was expected that the duel for Olympic gold in 1988 would constitute a showdown between these two women. In 1933, X moved to London. His Life of Captain Cipriani and the pamphlet The Case for ____ ______ Self Government were his first important published works, but now he became a leading champion of Pan-African agitation and the Chair of the International African Friends of Abyssinia, formed in 1935 in response to Fascist Italy's invasion of what is now Ethiopia. He then became a leading figure in the International African Service Bureau, led by his childhood friend George Padmore, to whom he later introduced Kwame Nkrumah. In Britain, he also became a leading Marxist theorist. He had joined the Labour Party, but in the midst of the Great Depression he became a Trotskyist. By 1934, X was a member of an entrist Trotskyist group inside the Independent Labour Party. In this period, amid his frantic political activity, X wrote a play about Toussaint L'Ouverture, which was staged in the West End in 1936 and starred Paul Robeson and Robert Adams. That same year saw the publication in London of X's only novel, Minty Alley, it was the first novel to be published by a black _________ author in the UK. He also wrote what are perhaps his best-known works of non-fiction: World Revolution (1937), a history of the rise and fall of the Communist International, which was critically praised by Leon Trotsky. X, once among the world's best known contract bridge players, co-wrote a syndicated newspaper bridge column for the Chicago Tribune for several years. He is also both author and co-author of several books on bridge and has licensed his name to a bridge computer game; initially released in a DOS version in 1992, X Bridge is still sold in Windows and "mobile platform" versions. For a number of years his partner at international tournaments was American football coach Tommy Prothro. X has also been a regular in casinos in France, where he once assaulted a casino employee after losing thousands of dollars on a single roulette bet. In 2006 X declared both pastimes as ended when he was asked if he still played bridge: "I've stopped altogether. I decided I didn't want to be a slave to any passion any more except for my work. I had too many passions, bridge, horses, gambling. I want to live a different kind of life, be with my family more because I didn't give them enough time."

X, was a popular card game that was often played for high stakes. Perhaps the most famous X game was the championship round of the Cloud City X Tournament in which Lando Calrissian lost to Y. Calrissian also won the rights to Cloud City and the title of Baron Administrator in a game of X. The game of X used a deck of seventy six cards featuring sixty numbered cards divided into four suits, and two copies of eight special cards. Each player was passed four cards which made up their hand at the beginning of the game. The suit and value of the cards would shift to different values at random, unless they were placed in the neutral field in the center of the table. The object of the game was to create a hand holding the value of twenty three, known as Pure X, or minus twenty three which would be trumped by a positive twenty three. Negative numbers could be created through the use of the special cards which all, with the exception of the Idiot card, represented a negative number. Id X, Y?

Stage 2 - A Stage 2 is a set of questions with one common connection. The points system of a Stage 2 gives the team cracking the connection points based on when the Stage 2 is cracked, highest points on the first question and steadily diminishing thereafter. Consequently, the fundas connecting the answer to the Stage 2 will get less vague as the round progresses.

A made history on June 14, 2001 driving a B through Silverstone. This is not the only Indian connection that B has, with another slice of history made by C this year. C in turn has been associated with D in the past. D have also had A serving them in some capacity in the past year. D had signed up E for the 2005 season, after E had had two creditable seasons of driving in a mediocre car for B.
E now drives for the current incarnation of B after 2 disappointing seasons at D. G was the partner of D from 2000 through 2005. F made his debut for G-# at the 2007 American GP, with immediate success. F thus broke a record (in that race) previously held by H. E had previously had a memorable debut driving for J in front of his home crowd. F currently drives for the current incarnation of J, which is owned by the current incarnation of B. H had achieved this record in his debut year, driving for D.
![Page 213: Sport](https://reader038.fdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022102804/54b64d0a4a7959534f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/213.jpg)
The only Grand Prix that H has won so far in his career came in 2006 at I. B itself was previously known as K. The current teammate of H is L. L spent 3 years driving for K, with teammates such as Jan Magnussen and @. @ spent the final F1 season of his career rather pointlessly at J in 2003. A and @ are connected by a certain first (nothing exhaustive/rather trivial). As a side note, @ has a connection to Bruce Springsteen.
L, despite having one of the most successful F1 careers driving for ?, was dissatisfied and left, leading to his current team. His teammate at ? was M. M debuted for and had only one race with P, which was also the debut team for A and L. M has a special bond with N, where he made his debut, won his maiden race and won his final championship. Before moving to N, this country's Grand Prix was held at O. O is notable mostly for the death of Q in the early 80s. It is said that Q would have won his only championship had it not been for team orders, allowing R to win his only championship. R had a certain record to himself for more than two decades, before being upstaged by M.

Had Q won that championship, he and * would have been in a select club along with "S & T". S on his own holds more than his share of unique records. T won his only championship driving for D, as did *. After his championship year, T moved to U and was leading a race that year at I. T however had problems and conceded the race to *, ending up 2nd. * has come out with a music album in the last year. U, now defunct, was for a period of time, known as Footwork. T won his last race driving for P at N.
P won it's last race in the rain at W, with V in the driver's seat. V had X to thank for his maiden race win. These two would later team up for a couple of years under the mentorship of Y. V, who previously also drove for # and J, was expected to fulfill his potential under Y, but it did not happen. Y has had equal amount of success with M and X. L has never won a race at W, ever. L will however break a 15 year old record this year. V drives for the present incarnation of P, which is owned by Z.
