PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSRead all instructions before beginning.

BasecoatYou will use wet on wet for the basecoat. This means to keep the surface damp while applying paint. Just dip the toe of brush into water. You will use a slip slap painting technique.

Wood CuttingCut tag from 1/4" wood, 10" x 6". Sand and remove dust.

BackgroundTrace on only the hill line to separate the sky from the ground.

SEE PHOTO #1:Mix 1:1 Multi Purpose Sealer and Victorian Blue. Using a fl at brush to fi t the area. Paint in the blue sky. Let dry. Paint again with just paint. Let dry.

Dip the toe of your brush into Victorian Blue and begin to slip slap in the sky to dampen it. While brush is still loaded with Victorian blue, pick up Turquoise Blue, slip slap in the center working your way out. Add more water as needed. Next, pick up a little White and repeat the slip slap, adding more White in the center and letting it fade out toward the edges. Let dry.

Using the 1/2" angular brush to shade around the edge with Prussian Blue. Load the same brush with Prussian Blue. Blend back and forth on palette. You want the paint to go all the way across the bristles, you could use a fl at brush. Lay brush down on the edge and pull and lift. This will give you the lines around the edge.

BottomMix 1:1 Multi Purpose Sealer and Leaf Green. Let dry. Using a fl at brush to fi t the area.

Load a damp brush again with Hauser Lt Green and paint using the same technique as above. Pick up Hauser Lt Green with the dirty brush and blend in the center going out toward the edge. Pick up a little Hauser Dark Green and blend in at the bottom. Let dry. Now load the angular or fl at brush with Hauser Dark Green. Repeat the process for the edge. Then load the brush with a little Antique Gold and pull down the top of the hills.

Using the house stencil with Black to stencil in the houses using the 1/4" deerfoot stippler brush. Let dry. Then use a small fl at brush and Antique Gold to paint the windows and doors. Next, use the liner brush to paint the tree and fence. Highlight a little with White.

Using the deerfoot stippler brush, add the moon and stars in the sky with Antique Gold. Highlight the moon with Lt. Buttermilk. Next, load the deerfoot brush with Hauser Dark Green, lightly pounce the ground under the houses. Then with Canyon Orange, then Antique Gold.

Use the liner brush to pull up some grasses with Hauser Dark Green.

PumpkinBasecoat with Canyon Orange. Tape off pumpkin (I had painted the cat fi rst and had to fi x his paws).

Using a damp sponge load with Canyon Orange. Light-ly press over the pumpkin. Wipe out sponge. You still want it to be damp, but not drippy. Load with Antique Gold and highlight top coming down the face. Let dry.

Using the angular brush to shade with Napa Red. Use the sponge to dabble in the cheeks with Napa Red. Let dry. Now paint the nose with Napa Red. Shade with Black. Add coma stroke with White.

Paint the corner of eyes with Antique Gold. Paint the eyes with Black. Float the corners of the black with Victorian Blue. Paint the stars and add highlight dots with White.

Paint the mouth with Lt Buttermilk. Shade the bottom of mouth and across the center with Lt Cinnamon.

Basecoat the stem with Lt Cinnamon. Highlight with Lt Buttermilk. Paint all details on face and stem with Black.

CatSEE PHOTOS 4 & 5:Basecoat with Black. Let dry. Using an old stiff brush, load with White. Blend into brush on palette. Now wipe off as much paint as you can on paper towel.

Begin to dry brush the cat: ears, muzzle, arm, tail, leg. This will help the black details to show up. Dry brush the cheeks with Napa Red. Paint the nose with Black. Highlight with White.

Dot the eyes with White. Then again with Black.

Fur: mix a little water with White. Load your liner brush and begin stroking in the fur. This is just using light strokes. Paint the toe nails with White. See photo.

FINISHINGDampen the fan brush with water, blot out on paper towels. You want it damp but not drippy. Dip into White and load brush. I like to tap brush on the handle of another brush over my trash can to remove and blobs. Lightly tap over the surface.

Add White dots in the sky. Let dry.

Spray with sealer. Hang with wire or cord.

Line drawing may need to be enlarged or reduced to fi t wood.
