Spooktacular Birthday Party
This month our birthday party celebration will be a SPOOKTACULAR event. We will play
games, enjoy spooky foods and have a BOOTIFUL afternoon.
Friday, October 30, in the MPR
12:30 —We will start off with the announcement of October Birthdays and proceed into a va-
riety of spooky and kooky games, carnival style along with table games.
1:30 pm—Announcement of Contest. Prizes will be awarded!!
Scarecrow Contest -Individual, or teams can enter into the scarecrow contest. Please have
entries ready by Friday, October 16th, to be displayed in the Fireside Room for view-
ing and voting.
Pumpkin Contest— To enter this contest you may decorate a pumpkin by carving,
painting or adding embellishments. All pumpkins should be brought to the Fireside Room
after Monday, October 26, to place on display.
Voting will be done by residents and visitors in the MPR starting October 16th for Scare-
crows and October 26th for the pumpkin contest!

Eggshell Art Project
This project consists of egg shells and transpar-
ency inks on a wooden base. This is a two step
process due to drying time.

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Lucy Muir, a beautiful widow who rents a house

We are excited to announce
that Dr. Barry Blattberg, Op-
tometrist will be here on the second Monday
of each month and will be providing Optom-
etry services.
They will provide examination equipment,
and if needed, an Ophthalmologist, Dr. James
Noth, will be able to see you for further ex-
aminations.
Come and meet Dr. Blattberg, and learn
about the services they will be offering on
Monday, October 12, at 1:00 pm in MPR
The doctor will be seeing patients right af-
ter the presentation. A clipboard will be
available in the Wellness Center for you to
sign-up for appointments on

Reading Buddies
Chippewa’s 5th grade students are back for an-
other amazing year of reading and socializing.
Students and residents are put into small
groups and will continue in those groups until
the end of the school year. If you are interested
in joining this program, come to the MPR and
meet the students. Class will meet the first
Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in the MPR.
Due to a scheduled school outing, the class will
meet on the third Tuesday for October.

What we now call the White
House, has a history of events
that shaped our country — some tragic, some
reflecting common human lives, and some hu-
morous. This presentation will bring some of
that history for us to view with pride and hu-
mility.

National Dessert Month
Come celebrate National Dessert Month
while making cute Halloween desserts. We
will make witches hats, witches brooms, and
more.
We will enjoy apple cider and enjoy our des-

we know how many supplies to have on hand.

All Resident Council
Meeting
It is time for our Annual All
Resident Council Hour. All residents of Bridge-
way and Meadow Crest are welcome. We will
need your vote of acceptance of the newly cho-
sen officers of the Resident Council and to meet
the new Floor Representatives.
The Bridgeway Store is in need of a volunteer
to take over the responsibilities of purchasing
and pricing merchandise and scheduling the
volunteers starting in November. Please see Pat
Zugehar if you are interested.

Bridgeway Players Meeting
The Lifestyle Department is looking for any-
one who is interested in joining a new group
called the Bridgeway Players. This group
will be performing plays and short skits.
Those interested should sign-up in the Life-
style Department. You will be given instruc-
tions and the date and time of the next meet-
ing.

National Popcorn Popping Month
October is National Popcorn Popping Month,
so we will be preparing popcorn from time to
time during the month.
Low Vision Group
This group will discuss facing fears– acknowl-
edging the scary questions that are lurking in
the back of your mind about your vision loss.
We will discuss and explore ideas and con-
cerns.

A pair of siblings from London purchase a sur-

is an outstanding Bible teacher. His topic will
be the man Gideon from the Book of Judges.
This will be the first of three sessions of the
Christian Book Club on the life of Gideon.

beautiful fall colors, we will visit the gift shop
and Ginkgo Restaurant & Café. At that time, you

Dr. Alice Howland (Julianne Moore) is a re-
nowned linguistics professor at Columbia
University. When words begin to escape her
and she starts becoming lost on her daily jogs,
Alice must come face-to-face with a devastat-
ing diagnosis: early-onset Alzheimer’s dis-
ease. As the once vibrant woman struggles to
hang on to her sense of self for as long as pos-
sible, Alice’s three grown children must
watch helplessly as their mother disappears
more and more with each passing day.

Up the Down Staircase
Sylvia Barrett, is an idealistic English lan-
guage teacher at an inner-city high school
who hopes to nurture her students' interest
in classic literature. She quickly becomes
discouraged during her first year of teach-
ing, frustrated by bureaucracy, the indiffer-
ence of her students, and the incompetence
of many of her colleagues. She decides to
leave the public school system to work in a
smaller private setting.
