INTRODUCTION

The Energize Awards are the county’s community sports awards. They celebrate the enormous efforts by local people, groups and organisations to help our communities to be more active and experience the fun, friendship and sense of personal achievement that leading an active lifestyle can bring. The Energize Awards are a unique and powerful marketing and networking opportunity for your organisation.

WHO ORGANISES THE ENERGIZE AWARDS? The Energize Awards are organised by Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, the local County Sports Partnership. We are a charity and part of a national network of 45 County Sports Partnerships who are primarily funded by Sport England. Through collaboration with local partners we aim to ensure that there are a diverse range of quality, affordable, accessible and enjoyable activities available across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, to inspire local communities to lead healthy and active lives. At Energize we believe that opening up people’s horizons to the joy of sporting activity enables each and every person to find something that makes their heart beat faster. For us, the Energize Awards are an opportunity to recognise and reward the people and groups who have been making grassroots level sport and physical activity possible in the local area as well as celebrating those who have been succeeding in their chosen sport or activity. Our aim is to make the Energize Awards an occasion which is as special as the people we give recognition to. We achieve this by putting on an event year on year which is professionally produced and reflects the excellence and quality of our nominees. ABOUT THE ENERGIZE AWARDS 2016

Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin will host the 10th annual Energize Awards on Thursday 3rd November and for this anniversary year, which also falls in an Olympic and Paralympic year, we are planning a particularly special event. The Energize Awards are a celebration of sport in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin at both a community and high performance level. They recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions of community sport clubs, coaches, volunteers and individuals across the county as well as rewarding local sporting talent. Our guests include those working in the local sport, health and education sectors, community and voluntary organisations, National Governing Bodies of Sport and of course our nominees in the following award categories and their guests: Coach of the Year Volunteer of the Year Young Volunteer of the Year Sports Performance of the Year Junior Sports Performance of the Year Community Club of the Year Newcomer of the Year (supported by the BBC) Community Project of the Year Employer of the Year The William Penny Brookes Trophy - the award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity (supported by the

Wenlock Olympian Society) Active Primary School of the Year (NEW CATEGORY FOR 2016) Active Secondary School of the Year (NEW CATEGORY FOR 2016) Active Higher or Further Education Institution of the Year (NEW CATEGORY FOR 2016) The venue for the Energize Awards 2016 is Telford International Centre, where a drinks reception and three course dinner will be followed by a speech by our special guest, Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards, who will also be helping to hand out awards. Once again, the Energize Awards are being held with the Shropshire Star as media partner – a relationship which has been in place for seven years and ensures that the event gets maximum local media exposure. We are now seeking supporters for the Energize Awards 2016.

It does not go into paying

for the Energize Awards, but rather gets invested into programmes and activities which get local people more active Coverage of the Energize Awards will feature in the Shropshire Star (on and off-line) from launch of nominations in the summer, right up to the post-event coverage in November. It will also feature on BBC Local Radio, with the event hosting the local ‘heats’ for the BBC Newcomer of the Year Award which will be presented at the subsequent West Midlands Community Sports Awards taking place at the end of November. This is in addition to promotion we will distribute to other local media, our partners, and promotion via social media. Our online presence for the awards is growing each year too. We have our own dedicated Energize Awards website, which for the 6 months around the event from launch in July to December 2015 had over 2,500 unique visitors - 500 more than the previous year - and over 4,600 page views. Our Twitter activity on the day of the awards alone last year saw us achieve 4,600 impressions. This combined with the local media coverage gives your brand excellent exposure to potential customers. By partnering with the awards, Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin would look to build a partnership with your business that goes beyond this event and is mutually beneficial.

MAIN TITLE SPONSOR AND ASSOCIATE SPONSORSHIP The company opting for the Title Sponsor option would have their name credited in the title of the event, i.e. it would become the Energize Awards in Association with [your company name] or become an Associate.
