THE CHALLENGE Formula SAE, one of the world’s largest collegiate engineering design competitions, is attended by 140 universities from around the globe. Each team is required to design, build, and race a new open-wheel racecar each year.
OUR MISSION To build upon Waterloo’s competitive 18-year history, through evolutionary design and optimization, geared toward performance and a co-operative involvement with industry leaders.
THE COMPETITION Held in Pontiac, Michigan every May, the competition is hosted by General Motors, Ford Motor Company and DaimlerChrysler. Each competing car is evaluated based on:

Your corporate name (for Bronze category sponsors) or logo (for Silver and higher category sponsors), will be displayed visibly on the car and the team’s website. The sizes and locations of the logos are dependent on sponsorship level. Upon request, your company can be featured on our promotional correspondence and team apparel.
Formula SAE is a practical hands-on engineering experience that requires high-level design skills, teamwork, project management, knowledge of various manufacturing processes and standards, and much more. Since 1987, many of our sponsors have successfully recruited many of our team alumni into their organizations.
THE NEED Formula SAE is an educational project with no intrinsic source of income. Therefore, support from businesses like yours is essential for the team’s viability and success.

THE TEAM The University of Waterloo Formula SAE Teamconsists of a core of about fifteen 4th year engineering students with a large supporting cast of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students from various engineering disciplines and other faculties.

We are willing to provide individuals and/or other businesses with information about your company, including your products and services. In addition, for our Gold and higher sponsors, we will also distribute your company’s promotional literature and items at the public events we attend.
Your sponsorship will provide a unique marketing opportunity for your company. The team, the car, and its family of supporters receive international, national, and local media exposure in the form of TV coverage, newspaper articles, and magazine publications. The team and car are also exposed to thousands of students, staff, and faculty members on the Waterloo campus, along with the citizens of Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Southwestern Ontario.

TEAM HISTORY The University of Waterloo has built an exceptional reputation at the annual competition. Our team has placed in the Top 10 nine out of the last 17 years. THE CAR Each year, the team builds a new racecar, requiring extensive design, testing, and development time. Areas of enhancement include suspension, chassis, and engine systems.
