Venturefest South is an interactive one-day event featuring a keynote speaker, seminars and workshops and valuable

investor pitching sessions, as well as demonstrations of the latest technology and innovations.

“The Venturefest Network, supported by Innovate UK

and the Knowledge Transfer Network, is well established

and expanding. Venturefest is about strengthening

connectivity between innovators, investors and

entrepreneurs and giving a real focus to accelerate the

translation of business ideas into increased economic

growth. The value proposition is an event for the innovation

community, run by the innovation community.

“The proposition is that we should have a Venturefest

South to connect our region’s innovative and creative

talent with entrepreneurs and investors. The southern

economy has many foci, business support programmes and

networks, but nothing that showcases us collectively as

an innovation region that includes world-class research,

businesses, sectors and talent.

“About three years ago, our region’s universities started

the journey to make Venturefest South a reality. It’s

been a challenging journey, given government cut-backs,

but our ‘angel investors’ (University of Southampton,

University of Portsmouth, Southampton Solent University,

EM3 LEP, Solent LEP, Carswell Gould, Oxford Innovation,

Dorset Growth Hub, Southampton City Council and

Portsmouth City Council) have put the seed funding in

the bank. The date is set for our second event, keynote

speakers of international standing are being approached

and the event management has begun.
