What is an Algebraic Equation
• An algebraic equation has numbers, operations, variables, and ____________.
• Example: x – 5 = 11• We need to know how to solve them
• I think of a teeter tot or a see saw…how many of you have used one of those items?
• The idea is to keep things balanced• Also, since in an algebraic equation you know the
end answer, you need to work backwards to find the missing piece, like a detective!
• We use inverse operations. These are operations that un-do each other. Addition and __________ are inverse operations.
How to solve Algebraic Equations
