The Carol E. Levy Memorial Bursary is offered in memory of Carol Levy, a founding parent of Southridge School, caring mother of Rachel, Rob, Victoria and Hilary and loving wife of Michael, who passed away suddenly in 2007. Mrs. Levy was a remarkable woman who gave countless hours to the community and was instrumental in the formation of the school during the first twelve years. Her unwavering dedication, not only to her family, but to the greater Southridge community is sorely missed by all who knew her, but her love for and commitment to all children will be felt through this most generous endowment in her name. The Carol E. Levy Bursary is a full, renewable entrance bursary covering all tuition and technology fees for an outstanding Grade 10 student of strong moral character who demonstrates the qualities of honesty, integri-ty and compassion. He or she must have a solid academic record, involved in a range of extra-curricular activities, and recognized as a leader and good citizen of their school and the broader community. Each year, this three year renewable bursary is made available to one Grade 10 applicant who, without benefit of this award would not be able to attend Southridge due to financial constraints.

Our founding Headmaster Emeritus, Alan Brown laid the foundation for Southridge School. Indeed, it was his vision for a school and his reputation as an educator that attracted many of the first families to Southridge. With three daughters of his own, and a background of educating only boys dur-ing his career as a teacher and administrator, Mr. Brown was instrumental in founding Southridge, in part, to realize his dream of educating girls.

Mr. Brown knew there were many deserving students who were unable to attend Southridge due to financial constraints, and, even in the early days, he was committed to supporting students through bursaries. In hon-our of his dedication to ensuring that all students, regardless of financial standing, might have the opportunity to receive an independent school education, Southridge School, with the generous support of his family and friends, have established the Alan Brown Memorial Bursary in his memory.

The Alan Brown Memorial Bursary is a partial, renewable entrance bur-sary covering up to a maximum of 50% of tuition and technology fees, for an outstanding new female Senior School student (Grade 8 to 12) who would otherwise be unable to attend Southridge due to financial constraints. The applicant must be a well-rounded individual who demonstrates the aca-demic ability to thrive in our enriched program, a commitment to service and extra-curricular activities, along with the character, integrity and citi-zenship we seek in all applicants.
