• To assist each person into a discipleship housing program, House of Jeremiah, House of Joshua, House of David, House of Esther, House of Paul that will help them with transportation, stabil-ity, identification, and employment, as they reintegrate back into society with a mentor.

• To assist each person in connecting with a local body of believ-ers so that they may continue renewing their mind, while be-ing strengthened and encouraged in their walk with Jesus Christ.

• To encourage and help each person stay connected through support and accounta-bility.

WMOC WMOC News

Working Men of Christ has started partnering with other churches and ministries that want to have programs similar to ours. A lot of these groups don’t know how to run the program or even where to start so we have come along side to show them our structure and how we operate our program.

We are working this out a couple of ways; first we started partnering together to run a house. Secondly we can train them to run a program through an internship program that we modeled after Hope City in Kansas city, Missouri.

So far we have had Tony and his wife come to us from Mississippi to learn how op-erate our programs and how we work with the prison systems to provide these men and women safe places to come and meet Jesus, so they can live the rest of their lives in abundance and peace of mind. They visited our homes in Wichita, got to meet our staff and experience first hand how the houses function.

We have had other ministries and churches express interest in partnering with us to run a house. We have St. Marks UMC partnering with us to run the House of Paul. We have also partnered with Novus Orsa to open the House of Timothy for young men ages 18 to 25.

Teaching the model to others

Brewel Currie, No More Chains New Life Ministries

Brewel started up No More Chains New Life Ministry 3 years ago after being released from prison. While in pris-on, Brewel found salvation and God filled him with a vi-sion: to go back into the jails, prisons, and community to speak life to the Fatherless, broken, and rejected souls.

He came from a Christian household that taught him the word of God. Growing up Brewel was searching for what it meant to be a man. This search eventually led him to a life full of drug crimes, drug abuse and then prison, where God spoke to him and taught him that he had a future and hope.

Today Brewel is ministering to troubled youth and at the Probation and Parole Of-fices in Junction City, Kansas. Brewel met Spencer through Clint Price. He origi-nally came to Spencer for advice and mentoring and it has grown into a full partner-ship with them going into prisons together.

Partnership leads to new business

Resident of the Month, James, House of Joshua

Our relationship with Mennonite Central Committee is growing and evolving. What began as a simple relationship between two organizations is turning into a full partnership.

This relationship started out providing re-entry care kits to our residents when they first move into our homes. It is has turned into a plan to open a thrift store in Wichita. This thrift store will be under the name of MCC and give our men and women a place to work when they first get out. In a lot of cases it is easier to get the job you want if you already have one.

We are excited to see what God has In store for this partnership.

Join us for an operations meeting for a new Thrift Store being opened by MCC in partnership with WMOC. March 27 @7:00pm at Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, 655 s Lorraine Ave, Wichita, KS 67211.

It's Saturday night and I am thinking about how the Lord continues to bless this ministry. I have been with the Working Men of Christ since January first of this year. Since then, God has confirmed that He has a plan.

At a meeting last month, I announced the hopes of establishing a Discipleship House here in Kansas City. Less than two hours later, I received a phone call regarding the comment I had made. The following week we met and the person who called made a commitment to purchase a house for that purpose. The search for a home is presently taking place. It was all God!

Currently, a Friday night worship service is held at the Lansing Correctional Facility. When I started with WMOC, I began volun-teering at the facility, with Ricky Cruse, director of one of the homes in Topeka. He showed me around, attends with me and has been a great support and blessing to me. Due to extenuating circumstance, I was invited to a meeting at Lansing. The State Coordi-nator for the Mentor for Success program, along with the worship team met with me to discuss the services. I was told of how they are very pleased with the consistency of WMOC, including the success rate of those we mentor. I was filled in on some requests and to make a long story short, I have been asked to head up the Friday night ministry. The average attendance is 60-70 men. I will also be mentoring 3-5 guys per week and meeting with the worship team, too.

Yes, I know God works miracles, but when I think of what has taken place in such a short time, it is incredibly surprising that God would show me such favor.

Since moving to Kansas City seven and a half years ago, I have continuously seen God expand this mission field. My job for the first seven years was in the Juvenile Justice Ministry in the Wyandotte County Juvenile Detention Center. A few months ago, God intervened, used a situation and I joined Working Men of Christ. The person who I initially spoke to, was hired, replaced me and has expanded the ministry, taking it to a new level.

“God is expanding the WMOC ministry, from Wichita, to Topeka, and now to Wyandotte County.”

To those who have prayed for and financially supported me across the years, I would like to thank you. I can see God’s hand at work in the Working Men of Christ ministry and He is certainly answering prayers, too. We serve an awesome God.

Update from Randy Herold

Coming to Working Men of Christ Ministries was a good choice because it has allowed me to be in a place with structure, the freedom to make choices, and most importantly for me it has given me a place to become closer to Christ. The support of the members of Working Men of Christ is very important to me. Being a mentor at The House of Joshua holds me accountable daily to live my life in God’s word and do things outside of my comfort zone. I’m learning to live for God and to show love daily. I’m also learning to be able to feel peace on the inside.

I have a good support system in the members of The House of Joshua. Change is not easy at first but learning to live for God allows me to feel at ease one day at a time. I would like to thank Zachery Tague, Spencer Lindsay, and Raymond Perret for all the love and support.

James 4:10 says “Humble yourselves in the sight of The Lord and He will lift you up”.

Proverbs 3:34 “God Resists the proud but gives grace to the humble”.

Discipleship Scripture

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man worketh not the right-

eousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able

to save your souls.”
