Building Compound Words
You can figure out the meaning of a compound word by looking at the two smaller words within it and putting the two meanings together. For instance, the word sunshine uses the two smaller words sun and shine.

Compound Creations Rummy
1.Shuffle the card deck.
2.Deal 6 cards to each player.
3.Put the rest of the cards face-down in the center
of the table. Turn the top card over and place it
face up.
4.The player to the left of the dealer begins the
game. He draws a card from the face-down pile or
picks up the face-up card.
Can you make a compound word by adding the new word to a word in your hand?
Yes! Keep the cards.
No! Add the new card to your hand.
5.The first player to be out of cards wins the game.
6. If there is no winner and the deck that is face-
down is out of cards, reshuffle the discard pile.
7.Record your words on the recording sheet.
