Excellencies, honorable audience, (ladies and), gentlemen,

I would like to begin by mentioning how honored I am to participate in

today’s event and we thank you for your kind invitation.

his year marks a glorious celebration of fifty years of an excellent bilateral

cooperation between !omania and "ashemite #ingdom of $ordan, based also, in

the last years, on !omania’s membership to the E% and $ordan’s advanced E%

 partnership status. his relationship has successfully materiali&ed itself on the

commercial and economic plan, a clear example in this respect being the increase

of bilateral trade, from ' million %* in + to more than - million %* in

+/.

Even though, at a first glance, it seems that the $ordanian export has doubled

itself, it is still far behind compared to !omania’s export, and focuses on fruits

and vegetables, as well as phosphates. 0iven the circumstances, we hereby

declare our strong support to the $ordan developers, in order to increase the

$ordanian exports to !omania.

1e noticed that until now, the bilateral trade between our countries has

focused on agriculture and energy 2 for instance, the companies in our country

have contributed to the development of $ordanian national electric grid and have

continuously been interested in participating in such pro3ects. 4evertheless, the

actual regional developments impose the diversification of collaboration fields

 between our countries, in new fields such as I56, 7harmaceuticals and

ourism, 3ust to name few of them.

  8oreover, the regional 9ualities of the two states must be taken into

consideration, as !omania represents a main way of access to the European

market, and $ordan constitutes a gate to Ira9i and 0ulf markets. :s a result,

cooperation on third markets must be seen as an opportunity.

:lthough I am not a businessman, being an official representative of 

!omania, allow me to express the opinion that the enhancement of direct

contacts between business communities from our countries would be beneficial.

In this sense, the collaboration between $ordan ;usinessmen :ssociation and the;ilateral 6hambers’ of 6ommerce %nion of !omania is more than welcome. In

our vision, the next step is the deepening of this cooperation, with the target of 

direct sectorial cooperation between !omanian and $ordanian businessmen. <rom

this perspective, I would like to stress that the Embassy’s support is here=

o conclude, I would like to state yet again how thankful I am for the

invitation to participate at this event, and to remind that today’s circumstances

have taught us an important lesson> the only true and solid way of advancing is

 by 3oining together our forces.hank you=
