Transcript of SPEECH
Greetings.
4 years and 7 days ago, I first raised my right hand and
took my oath to become part of a noble organization called,
Philippine National Police. I didn’t know what to expect then.
I was excited, amazed and feeling all positive for my first day
working with the uniformed personnel.
However, as the saying goes, “Walang madali sa
simula.” My first month at Police Regional Office 02 was one
of the most challenging days of my life. It was filled with
“Hindi na lang sana ako nag-apply dito.” I was complaining
each day and even cried whenever I come home from work. I
was assigned in one of the busiest Office and that with the
most number of personnel. Just imagine an Office with more
or less 20 personnel and I, alone, was there sitting in the
corner and not single one from among those 20 personnel
bother to come and talk to me. I didn’t have anything to do
then for I was not yet given my designation. Until one day,
somebody called out my name and gave my very first
instruction, “Jane, magserve ka naman ng meryenda sa
taas.” Di ba parang nakakainis? That was far from what I
expected to be doing. But with that I learned the first lesson
that PNP thought me. “Wag kang mag-expect. Masasaktan
ka lang.”
Same thing might have happened to you. Marami sa
atin maaring nag-expect ng mataas sa pagpasok natin sa
PNP. Kasi siyempre PNP yan, antaas eh. But that’s the
beauty in working with the uniformed, with the PNP as a
whole. You won’t get bored. You’ll never know what will
happen next. Ngayon hihingi sila ng crime statistics ng
buwan nato, mamaya crime statistics naman from January
2014 tapos bago mag-alas singko, may ifoforward na
message, zuluzulu, bagong format, period covered from
January 2013 to present. Oh di ba ang saya? Sa una maiinis
ka, pero habang ginagawa mo parang wala na lang. The life
of a PNP personnel is like that, full of surprises. Find your
happiness in between the difficulties. The fact that many of
our expectations are not met should not halt our motivation
to work for the better.
That may be the reason why it is imperative for us to
have this Personnel Orientation Course. This is to equip us
with the skill to correctly do our task and of course to
prepare us from what is really happening in the field.
To you my colleagues, I know you are still wondering
what will come in the future, kung madadagdagan ba o
mababawasan ang mga trabaho na ating haharapin at
susubok sa ating kakayahan. But I believe, thru the skills
and knowledge shared to us in this course by our young and
genuinely skilled NUP Supervisor Mam Meng with the
supplements of all skilled superiors from Regional
Headquarters, Mam Fle, Sir Al and Sir Tito I think we are
competitive and crafted enough to do all of the tasks we are
mandated to do no matter how demanding these task may
be.
The day we raised our right hand and took our oath, we
agreed to take on the challenge of being the partners of the
uniformed. With our superiors in the REGION, in the PPO and
the Uniformed personnel in our respective units on our back
there will be no hard task.
So to our Regional Director, and the rest of the Officers
present here today, we promise that next week, as we report
back in our respective offices, our COPs will be dealing with a
better and renewed NUP.
Thank you and good day.
