“Early Childhood Education Centers of Excellence”
History
Founded in July 2009 our passion for the advocacy of quality child carestemmed from the physical abuse of one of the children in a licensedfamily child care home.
The provider who admitted she tied a 2- year-old to a highchair and lefther for hours in a dark closet was sentenced to four years' probation, paythousands of dollars in fines, serve 1,200 hours of community service andordered to give up her child care license.
Our founder, Miss Kelly along with Assemblyman Todd Spitzer fought forlegislation requiring licensed child care providers to carry liabilityinsurance. Under current law, providers do not need to have liabilityinsurance for the children in their care, a loophole Assemblyman ToddSpitzer found unconscionable.

History cont.
Four years later, at the suggestion of Patricia Miller, Director of Childtime ChildCare Center, Irvine; Miss Kelly interviewed with the Irvine Child Care Co-ordinationCommittee for a parent position on their committee.
Although The Irvine Child Care Co-ordination Committee were working hard toimprove the quality of child care. They had to work with the providers already inthe market and there was not much they could do as the for profit companieshave dominated the childcare industry catering to the most profitable age groupsand serving the more affluent families.
