California Clapper

• Characteristics- The upper body is olive brown, it’s breast is a rust brown, the wings have brown streaks, and its flanks have black and white bars.

• Exclusively found in the salt marshes of the San Francisco estuary.• The Clapper is an endangered species do to market hunters from the time of the Gold Rush. • The weeks McLean Law in 1913 was passed to stop commercial market hunting and illegal

shipment of migratory birds from one state to another. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act was also put into action to help protect this species from extinction.

Pallid Beach Mouse• Otherwise known as Ponce de Leon Beach Mouse, it’s known form two locations in Florida,

Ponce Park, and Bulow. No individual has been seen since 1959. The average Pallid Beach Mouse was 4 to 8 centimeters in length and they burrowed into dunes for protection.

• Land development was the biggest factor that contributed to the pallid beach mouses extinction.

Western Zebra-tailed Lizard• A pale thin lizard with long legs and a long flat tail with black crossbars . Pale orange and yello

w coloring on the sides and the throat often has a pink or orange spot on it. This lizard is located in California, in the Mojave and Colorado deserts, it’s also found in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. This is the fastest lizard in the desert.
