    1 TheattentionofteachersandlecturersisdrawntothefollowingextractsfromtheArrangementsdocument.

    Thecandidatemustdemonstratetheabilityto:

    selectasuitabletopic adoptapersonalstancetowardsthetopic devise,structureandsustainanargument selectevidencefromprimaryandsecondarysourcestosupportanargument employtheliterary,linguisticormediaconceptsandterminologyappropriatetothe

    expositionofthetopic.

    The firststageintheprocessistheselectionbythecandidateoftextsortopicsforstudyandtheformulationofabriefdescriptivestatementofwhatthecandidateproposestostudy.Thisproposalmustbesubmittedtotheteacher/lecturerforapprovalin ordertoensurethattheproposedmaterialsareappropriatetoanEnglishcourseandworthyofstudyatthislevel,andthatthestudyitselfismanageable.

    Thestudyshouldexplorealimitedareaandexamineitindetailwithappropriatesupportingevidence.
