Welcome to the NewsLeader’s A-List.This summer, we put the call out to

readers, in the form of a survey, asking residents to name some of their favourite shops and services in the city.

When the World Police and Fire Games Board came to our city to inspect our facilities for our bid to host the 2009 Games they said our sports facilities were the best they had ever encountered. We had set

The burger is a ground Angus steak patty prepared in-house daily, and served medium well. Janice Ho is Burnaby Neighhbourhood House’s Community Development Coordinator at the BNH’s new North Burnaby (Hastings) location at 4463 Hastings St. She’s been on the job since last December, but used to work for BNH nine years ago and is loving being back.

1. Can you tell us a little about what you do?

My role is to connect with different organizations and individuals living in the North Burnaby area and identify needs and gaps in services and programs. Because we’re just starting out, I also manage the of� ce and volunteers in our location.

2. What’s the best part

of your job?

I love meeting people and connecting them to other people, organizations, services, and programs and then continue to see them

participating in various programs as participants or as a volunteer.

3. Have there been any surprises?

Every time I come into work it’s a surprise. I never know who will walk through our door or who I will meet that day.
