SPECIAL CAMP REPORT

PREFACE

Special camping forms an integral part of NSS programmes. It provides an

experience of mutual adjustment and adaptation to new changing and

challenging situations and generates courage, confidence, comradeship, decision

making, democratic attitudes, resourcefulness, objectivity and leadership in the

students. So, special camp is organized for 7 days

The NSS Unit of GVP College of engineering had organized ANNUAL

SPECIAL CAMP at KALLIVANIPALEM village (Kapuluppada

Panchayat,Visakhapatnam District). The camp was held from 25-02-2017 to 03-

03-2017. Total 35 students attended the camp. Mentioned below is the list of

volunteers and the activities done in the period of the 7 days camp.

DETAILS OF DAY WISE ACTIVITIES

DAY 1: 23-02-2017The NSS volunteers, along with two NSS Programme Officers and four faculty members,arrived the village at 10A.m in the morning. NSS special camp had been started with aninauguration meeting which was held in school compound in the presence of the followingguests:

- Dr Sri B.Ramana Murthy Garu (Dean UG)- Dr Sri Krishna SubbaRao Garu (Head Of The Department CSE)- Sri Ajay Kumar Garu (CSE Department)- Sri C.V.Nageswara Rao Garu (Associate Professor CFSR)- Sri Ch.Rajesh (Program Officer NSS Unit 2)- Sri Ch.Avinash (Assistant Program Officer Unit 2)- Srimati P.Satyavathi Garu (MPTC)- Srimati V.Joji Ratnam Garu (HM)

Before lunch volunteers and the NSS coordinator had a meeting and inauguration of thespecial camp about the plan of action that is to be implemented in the 7 days’ schedule. Afterlunch volunteers went round the village and had an interaction session with the local youthand some of the villagers in the villagers and initiated the adult literacy program.

DAY-2: 24-02-2017A rally on “Swachh Baharat campaign” was conducted on the streets of the village as amorning session of the camp during which, the volunteers walked through the streets bydoing the NSS claps and shouting out Swachh Bharat slogans.Volunteers divided into groups with five members each and initiated the Swachh Bharatprogram all over the village helping to eradicate the plastic and other inorganic waste out ofthe village.

DAY-3: 04-03-2017A special program on adult Literacy and school beautification was held in the village.Volunteers went door to door and taught some basics of reading and writing to theuneducated adults of the village.A rally was also conducted focusing on the literacy drive.

DAY-4: 05-03-2017A Special survey by the NSS student Volunteers on different aspects of the village likecustom,tradition,culture, heritage,agriculture,financial and education was conducted.All thelocal residents actively participated in the survey providing the necessary information to thevolunteers.

DAY-5: 11-03-2017An awareness program on various dreadful diseases like Malaria,cholera,AIDS,Influenza,Diarrhoea, other diseases and their symptoms, causes and preventive measures wasconducted.The presentations are given through charts which are explained to the villagers.

DAY-6: 12-03-2017A Rally was conducted by the student volunteers and children focusing on healthy habits andpractices in our daily life. All the children and the residents of the village with the support ofthe student volunteers took active part in the event sticking healthy phrases all over thevillage.

DAY-7: 19-03-2017On the last day of the camp all the student volunteers took active part in cleaning thepremises of the water tank in the village and after that we conducted a closing ceremonyfelicitating the HM of the school and school teacher with mementos for their co-operation tomake the camp successful.
