  • Powerful Performance. The 3126BATAAC diesel engine deliversnet power of 152 kW (204 hp). This innovative engine features theCaterpillar exclusive ADEM IIIelectronic control module for advancedperformance and diagnostics.

Fuel System. Fuel remains at lowpressure in the fuel lines until it isinjected into the cylinders. Fuelpressure is created hydraulicallyin response to a signal from theADEM III control module.

Advanced Fuel System. The AdvancedDiesel Engine Management (ADEM III)fuel system is a proprietary electroniccontrol module which provides improvedengine response, performance, fuelefficiency, diagnostics, and reducedemissions. Altitude capability is increasedto 3050 m (10,000 ft) without deration.ADEM III is integrated with theelectronic transmission control formaximum power train efficiency.

Turbocharged, ATAAC. Turbochargingpacks dense air into the cylinders formore complete combustion and loweremissions. Air-to-air aftercoolingprovides a separate cooling systemfor intake manifold air. The ATAACsystem reduces smoke and emissionsby providing cooler inlet air for moreefficient combustion.

Constant Net Horsepower. The 962G IIselectronic engine is integrated with anon-demand cooling fan. The enginecompensates for varying fan loadsand provides constant net horsepower, regardless of operating conditions.

Oil Change Intervals. The engineoil change interval is increased to500 hours (with CH-4 oil), reducingcosts and downtime.

EngineThe 962G II provides more power, excellent fuel economy, and reduced maintenance.

  • Electronic Power Shift Transmission. The electronic power shift transmissionwith automatic shift capability isa durable planetary design builtby Caterpillar. It is electronicallycontrolled and allows full powerspeed and directional changes. Fullymodulated gear shifts contribute tooperator comfort and increasecomponent life.

Electronic Clutch Pressure Control(ECPC). Senses input from both thetransmission and the operator controlsin the cab to modulate each individualclutch through a proportional electro-hydraulic valve. This results in smoothershifts (speed and directional). Energy ismodulated into the clutches, resulting inlonger clutch life.

Integrated Braking System. Integrates adownshifting and neutralizer logic intothe left-hand brake pedal. IBS increasesperformance and productivity with anoptimized transmission neutralizer andautomatic downshifting. The IntegratedBraking System also lowers owningand operating costs by reducing axleoil temperatures, which can extendservice brake life.

Free Wheel Stator Torque Converter. The Free Wheel Stator torque converter(FWSTC) improves machine powertrain efficiency and contributes toimproved fuel economy in certainapplications. It reduces drag in thetorque converter at high turbinespeed/impeller speed ratios.

Electro-Hydraulic Valves. The sixproportional electro-hydraulic valvespressurizing the clutches are identicaland bolted on top of the transmission.

Easy Service. Daily level check is donefrom the ground through a well-protectedsight gauge. An oil sampling valve allowsquick, clean access to the transmissionfor SOSSM oil analysis.

Variable Shift Control. Transmissionsoftware which allows the operatorto select three different shift patternsbased on the application and operatingpreferences. This feature reducesfuel consumption, depending on theapplication. In all modes, full machinepower remains available for loading.

Electronic TransmissionAdvanced Caterpillar power train is reliable and fuel efficient.

  • Reverse Flow. Air enters through therear grill and exits out the top openingand side hood doors. Rear air flow picksup less debris from the ground, reducingplugging.

Improved System Access. The 962G IIadds a swing-out grill, hydraulic oilcooler and air conditioner condenserfor easier cleaning. Side panels allowaccess to both sides of the radiatorcores for cleaning.

On-Demand Fan. Electronicallycontrolled, variable speed on-demandfan adjusts to meet the varying coolingrequirements of the machine. Fan speedis determined by oil, coolant and inletmanifold temperatures. In cooleroperating conditions, average fanspeed is reduced, resulting in lessfuel consumption, lower noise levelsand less radiator plugging.

Unit Core Radiator. New unit coreradiator with square wave shaped fins.Lower fin density (6 fins per inch) allowsdebris to pass through more easily.

Cooling SystemNew G Series II cooling package reduces radiator plugging and improves fuel efficiency

  • Low Exhaust Emissions. The Cat 3126BATAAC engine used in the 962G IIis a low emission engine designedto meet Tier 2 emission regulations. It is electronically controlled, with air-to-air aftercooling for more efficientcombustion and cleaner emissions.

    Machine Features.

Electronic on-demand fan, whichautomatically regulates fan speeddepending on the coolingrequirements. The fan draws lesshorsepower in cooler ambienttemperatures, which reduces fuelconsumption. Sound levels are alsoreduced when the fan slows down.

Additional sound insulation aroundthe engine to reduce sound levels.

Oil sampling valves and pressuretest ports for easy service diagnosticswith less chance of spills.

    Environmental Fluids.

Extended Life Coolant/Antifreezewith anti-foaming and anti-corrosionproperties provide extended serviceintervals (up to 6000 hours) andrequires less frequent fluid changesand disposals.

    CFC-free air conditioning refrigerant.

Fewer Leaks And Spills. Transmission, hydraulic oil, engine oil, and fuelfilters are spin-on elements. Filtersare positioned vertically and locatedfor easy access, allowing for removalwithout fluid spillage. Lubricant filtersand drains are designed to avoid spills.

Ecology Drains. Standard for the engine, transmission, hydraulics, radiator andfuel. Activating the value allows fluidto be drained into a container withoutspillage. Axle oil ecology drains arean attachment and allow quicker oilchanges, and help eliminate spillage.

Rebuildable Components. Many majorcomponents are designed to be rebuilt.Worn components can be remanufacturedinstead of thrown out.

The ultimate in wheel loader operator comfort and efficiency.

    Operator Station

  • 1 Steering. Low effort hand meteringunit steering. Tilt steering column helpsfit the wheel to the operator. Loadsensing steering directs power throughthe steering system only when needed. When not steering, more engine poweris available to generate rimpull, breakout and lift forces.

2 Excellent Visibility. The wider frontwindow provides remarkable forwardand peripheral viewing includingmachine wheels and bucket corners.Windshield wiper sweep area is increased.Bonded glass in the windshield eliminatesframe obstructions. A larger roof capchannels water away from the windshieldand also acts as a sunscreen.

3 Low Effort Controls. Pilot-assisted,hydraulic implement controls makelow-effort operation possible. One liftand one return-to-dig position may beadjusted on the
