  4. 4. Celebrate Life with Yoga! The practice of yoga expands your horizon and spurs you on to positive thoughts. You are filled with feelings of affection and compassion towards everyone and all your confusion and doubts are cleared. Your face radiates happiness as you develop integrity of mind. As you continue to practise yoga, even adverse conditions fail to perturb you. A yoga practitioner gradually accepts inevitable actions, or the highs and lows that are part of his destiny. No wonder, yoga makes your entire life a celebration. By Yogacharya Surakshit Goswami Life is a celebration and should continue to be so for as long as we live. With time, it should become even more pleasurable. This ongoing celebration is not an external phenomenon but an internal one. In fact, it is a state of mind where everything appears blissful. However, our fickle nature makes us act according to whims and fancies. While flitting from one thought to the next, the mind often becomes attached to unnecessary things. One wonders if the mind is fickle because we are so influenced by physical desires that our mind is always wavering and is in turmoil. The mind appears happy so long as things happen according to our desires. It becomes sad and perturbed the moment life takes a sudden turn and if our wishes are not fulfilled. It then alternates between sukh and dukh. Rise above materialism True happiness and peace does not lie in material things. Happiness and peace will continue to elude us if we remain unduly attached to material things. This fact is even more important once we realise that it is the state of our mind that controls our physical health. A mind that wanders and causes tension and despair leads to sickness and ill health in the body. The question then arises: how does one understand the mind? And how does one rein in the mind? The solution lies in delving deep into the mind and establishing a communion with the inner self. In the process, one becomes an embodiment of love, compassion, equality and bliss. This is the state of dhyaan or meditation. This is the beginning of yoga. Yoga fuels happiness According to Maharshi Patanjali the basis of yoga lies in curbing certain traits of the mind, like ego and attachment, in order to help individuals break away from their worldly shackles. Maharshi Patanjali calls this yogaschittavrittanirodhaha. Our mind is constantly wandering - either in the past or in the future - owing to a chain of thoughts or vrittis that cloud the mind. These thoughts - influenced by the environment we live in and arising because of certain characteristics that we inherit - influence our responses to the material world, giving rise to sanskaara, or traits. 06
  5. 5. How To Heal In Relationships By NayaSwamis Jyotish and Devi Our relationships can bring great joy or great suffering into our lives. Either way, they can affect us on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. However, we can learn to heal difficult relationships and improve good ones by practicing some of these guidelines: Listen: When communication becomes difficult, don't shout or argue, but take the time to listen to what is troubling the other person. Look behind their words to understand their feelings and perspectives. Then let them know that you've heard them. Forgive and Forget: Don't hold on to past grievances, or use angry words like, You always Give both yourself and your partner the space to change and improve. If we lock people in a box of past behaviour, we block their potential to develop. As someone put it humorously, The secret to our harmonious marriage is that we both have developed poor memories. Live in Inner Freedom: Remember that no one belongs to you, and you belong to no one. Enjoy your relationships with a sense of non-attachment, so that your love is given freely without demands, expectations or a sense of ownership. Friendship is the foundation for all enduring relationships. See the similarities: Every soul is a unique creation, but to build healthy relationships, focus on what on you have in common. People, groups and nations have largely similar needs and desires. Focusing on common ground generates understanding and harmony. Respect the differences: Respect the right of others to have their own opinions and private space. Relationships are much healthier when people feel respected, supported and encouraged in their interests and enjoyments. Change yourself first: As Gandhiji said, We must be the change we want to see in the world. If there is disharmony in your relationships, look honestly at your part in it, and work to change your own attitudes or behaviour. Often, what we criticise in others is merely a projection of what we don't like in ourselves. If both partners can work at self- correction, problems will begin to fade away. You can prevent many difficulties if you communicate that you are working on self-improvement and ask for support. The real relationship is with God. Develop an inner relationship with God that is meaningful for you. Feel that God has come to you in the form of the people in your life. See and appreciate their highest potential and express this to them. Try also to feel God's impersonal love flowing from you to them. We are all God's children, and He loves us all unconditionally. Be an open channel for God's love to everyone you meet. 08 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in
  6. 6. Work A Confluence of Psychology, Neuroscience & Spirituality By Shantanu Nagarkatti Work is the most important part of our lives. Our work defines us. We are what we do. Yet, for most people, work is merely a means to get what we want outside our work hours, rather than a means of fulfillment in itself. We need to define work, understand the psychological dimensions of our worklife and understand how our workplace can become an altar. Our work is a meditation that connects us to that which is beyond boundaries and limits Work is the way we add value to the world, whether we are economically compensated or not. When we create value for the world around us, we discover unique value within ourselves. Even as work helps us to grow financially and intellectually, it also becomes the means for us to transform ourselves by evolving spiritually. From the psychotherapist Abraham Maslow, we learn that when we meet our basic hierarchy of needs (a hygiene factor), we can move on to self-actualization. Through self- actualization, we plumb the depths of our creative and work potential, discovering our true intrinsic value to find salvation. Through the psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, we learn that by matching our skills and challenges, with clear goals and feedback, all of us can enter Flow. In this state of flow, we can suspend our ego, become oblivious of our physical needs, lose all sense of time, and engage in work as a meditation. Work that provides intrinsic rewards is Auto Telic and work where external compensation is the primary reward, is Exo-Telic. Those who find Flow in their work, discover the Auto Telic nature of work. This Flow is attained by those who work at their Svadharma, where there is a perfect match between their skills and the challenges they face on the job The future lies in programming our unconscious through education, learning and experience so that our perfect actions will flow naturally in the right environment with the fitting stimulus. At such times, the electrical activity in the brain as well as its blood flow, is at the ideal levels, much like the fuel consumption of an automobile on cruise control. The human mind has a natural chaotic drift toward negativity. All religions may have different philosophies, cultures and rituals that form the outer wrapping, but at essence, they all have a common purpose at the central core of silencing the mind To silence the mind is hard work. Yet, hard work silences the mind In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna teaches the principles of performing work as a meditation and religion. His teachings are congruent with modern discoveries in psychology and neuroscience. 10 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in
  7. 7. Do We Really Need Morals? By Swami Shantatmananda This is an extremely important, yet a very complicated issue. Before we examine this, we must have an idea of what morality is. Morality can generally be understood as the guiding principle for deciding what's right and wrong, what's good and bad. Morality is a social phenomenon. It impinges on our behaviour towards one another. What would it be like if there were no traffic rules at all? Would people be able to travel on the roads if there were no traffic regulations? There would be total chaos, isn't it? Similarly, rules and regulations are necessary for an orderly functioning of society. There are several social issues such as keeping promises, citizenship obligations, etc., which help in maintaining order in society. But morality often varies under different circumstances. What is considered moral under one set of conditions, may not be so under another set of conditions. For example, in one country, it may be considered quite normal and moral for cousins to marry, but in another country, it can be thought of as abnormal and very immoral. Similarly, shooting somebody on the streets without any cause or provocation is considered homicide and can invite serious punishment, including a death sentence, under the criminal laws of any country. But killing thousands of enemy soldiers on the warfront is considered an act of great bravery and the person gets decorated with gallantry medals and awards. Thus, the perception of morality often varies according to the circumstances. The idea of morality, in individual as well as social life, is largely based on fear. It is either a fear of the police or public ridicule or God's punishment or Karma. However, the existing theory of ethics does not explain why a person should be moral and good to others. One of the strongest and most compelling pursuits of humankind is the idea of freedom. Everyone wants to be free of all fetters. It is this desire for freedom that is largely responsible for people not being moral. When a person drinks excessively, it is because he wants to be free from worries and depressing thoughts. Someone steals because that person wants to be free from the clutches of poverty. We get a wonderful idea of freedom as well as morality in the words of Swami Vivekananda: Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this Divinityand be free. In order to attain true and complete freedom, we need to understand our real nature - infinite, boundless, birthless and immortal. In our real nature, we are pure and moral. Hence the question Do we really need morals? does not arise at all. 12 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in
  8. 8. What Is Spirituality? A Connection To The Spirit In All By Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati The term spirituality is used quite vaguely these days to refer to anything ranging from those who subscribe to an eclectic mix of practices, traditions and beliefs, to those who may agree with the foundational aspects of a religion while not adhering to all the rituals, to those who believe in a divine power without necessarily subscribing to a particular religion at all. The word is also used frequently in contrast to religion. I am not so religious, we hear people say. But I'm very spiritual. Ultimately, spirituality literally means pertaining to the spirit, of the spirit, in relation to spirit. It is not the opposite or antithesis of religion, but rather it is the opposite of materialism. To be spiritual, in essence, is to live one's life focused on the intangible, omnipresent, pervasive spirit rather than on tangible objects with distinct borders and boundaries. To be spiritual, to be of the spirit, means to focus on that which connects us to each other rather than that which separates us. Once I realize that I am one with Spirit, I realize that I am one with you, for that same Spirit flows through you just as it flows through me. Theoretically, that is actually what religion should do as well connect us to the omnipresent, all-pervasive Divine and thereby connect us to all of Creation. In today's world, our illusion of separateness is killing us as individuals and as nations. Our individual feeling of disconnection from God and from all of Creation leads us to feel alone, isolated, ungrounded and uncentered. The Isha Upanishad tells us Isha vasyam idam sarvam. Everything in the universe is pervaded by the Divine. There is no place He does not exist. There is no person, no living being and even no inanimate object from which He is absent. When we become truly spiritual, when we become focused on and connected to spirit, we realize that we are not separate from anyone's joy and we are not separate from anyone's pain. I am connected to the starving child trying to sleep with pangs of anguish in his belly. I am connected to the woman dying in childbirth due to lack of medical care. I am connected to every animal tortured and slaughtered. I am connected to every tree being felled, every river being polluted, and every fish suffocating in the fisherman's net. To be truly spiritual requires one to live with an awareness of spirit, and that spirit is all-pervasive. It leaves nothing and no one out. If I am One with spirit, then by definition I am One with you. 14 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in
  9. 9. Heal Thyself: Chakra Cleansing & Balancing! By Smita Jaykar Finding a perfect balance between the Universal energies and keeping up our own energetic boundaries, is the main purpose of Chakra balancing and Chakra healing. While being One with the Universe may be the ideal state of Being and the ultimate spiritual goal, first you need to learn to differentiate between you, the Universe, and others, who may not be spiritually advanced, and will only hold you back or drain you. The word Chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk. It signifies seven basic energy centres in the body which are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura. One reason why there is so much widespread interest in spirituality today is because people want to learn more about life, themselves, their minds and what's beyond. However, taking charge of one's mind can be a difficult task. Yet, it is necessary because it holds the answers to many of our problems. It's also a practice that needs guidance and divine intervention. Finding the Divine that is sitting inside you, waiting and yearning for your attention, is the beginning of a great life. In our current state, we are all interacting and playing into the hands of our minds and ego. Once a connection with our Divine is established, we start communicating with that power, instead of our foolish mind. The situation created by the mind is much worse than the actual situation itself. Thinking of what will happen next can cause immense stress. While pain is something we can't control, we definitely have a choice when it comes to suffering. Our mind is devious and adept at making a big issue out of inconsequential things, leading to anguish. We have a chakra for each 'issue' that we commonly think about, and it is worthwhile to know that by keeping the chakras clean and balanced , your energy and life flow smoothly, and you experience harmony and bliss. On the contrary , if you hold any negative or obsessive thoughts, the related chakra becomes dirty, withered, and is unable to push through sufficient life force energy resulting in both illnesses in respective body organs as well as imbalance in that particular area of life. The 7 main chakras in the body are located throughout our body such that they correlate with specific body ailments and physical dysfunctions; each energy centre also houses our mental and emotional strengths. With Smita Jaykar, you can learn to expand your awareness and experience each of the chakras as a realm of being. Each chakra is a realm with its own nature and consciousness. This is not a thinking process, but one in which you merely open yourself and allow impressions to form in your whole being! 15 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in

  11. 11. Brahmanaad Divine Omdasji Sound Meditation His Holiness, Dhyanyogi Omdasji, is the third in line of the illustrious Gurus of Kundalini Maha Yoga. His Guru is Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji, who brought the Kundalini Shaktipat and Yoga to the masses in India and the West. And his Param Guru is Dhyanyogi Parameshwardasji. Dhyanyogi Omdasji is renowned for the singing of the Brahmanaad, or the Divine Omdasji Sound Meditation. The Brahmanaad is a series of Bija mantras, mantras and prayers. The power of his singing vibrates through the pancha koshas or five sheaths of man and also through his seven chakras. It soothes out stresses and kinks from the body systems and brings peace and relaxation to listeners, making them slide easily into a meditative state. All listeners report experiencing divine love, peace and stillness within. The Brahmanaad does not differentiate between caste, creed, race, religion, sex, language or nationality. There is no need to know the language or understand what Dhyanyogi Omdasji sings to receive the numerous blessings of the Brahmanaad on one's body, mind and soul. The Brahmanaad is Nada Yoga in its purest form. It's the most effortless tool for meditation. It takes the listener back to his or her roots back to Godhead. The invisible dimension of spiritualism and Godhead, thus, become visible to a regular meditator of the Divine Sound. Benefits of Brahmanaad Brahmanaad helps in: Relaxation of mind and body Easy attaining of meditative state Reduction of stress Inducing sleep in insomniacs, otherwise dependent on sleeping aids and pills Subsiding overt hyperactivity in children Overcoming habits of tobacco, alcohol and other substance abuse Many cases of healing of heart disease, diabetes and obesity Calm thinking and a positive attitude Awakening of the Kundalini Shakti What is Brahmanaad and how does it work? Brahmanaad is vibration energy. The Aum, Amen, Amin and Hum are universally accepted as the Divine Sound. It is said that all creation came from that sound and responds to that vibration. This sound is heard in deep meditation. The rishis of yore were able to sense and distinguish 50 different variations of "Om", which later became the 50 alphabets of Sanskrit language. There is an intricate network of 72,000 nadis and 7 major chakras in the human body. These are the pathways through which cosmic energy flows and is regulated in the body. This network is directly affected by the chanting or intoning of the Sanskrit mantra. Dhyanyogi Omdasji, a renowned ParamGuru, MahaYogi and Siddha, has performed intense tapas on sound for many decades. This Siddhi of Sound and his personal vibratory levels helps him to connect with his listeners and put them into meditative state through acoustic medium. 12. 12. Everyone is A Gem of A Person A chance encounter with Art of Living changed my life forever. I was heading towards a room on the 3rd floor of a building for a Reiki course. My eyes fell on a signboard across the 2nd floor that read 'The Art of Living'. Mistaking it for an interior decoration programme, I chucked Reiki and entered the Art of Living course in the hope of learning something creative. Little did I know that the course would actually decorate the interiors of my heart. The experience was so profound and life transforming that I would never forget it for the rest of my life. After that, there was no looking back for me. I became a lifelong volunteer for the AOL Foundation and resolved to dedicate my life to meaningful service to society. I became an instrument for transforming people's lives, thereby making them experience the same happiness which I had received in just six days! The rest is history. Indeed, I have been able to touch and change the lives of countless youths, corporate professionals and women from all over the world using my creative talent and spiritual knowledge. I'm a jewellery designer in the real sense of the word. Whether I'm carving jewels or touching human lives, I do not rest unless I make them shine with brilliance. As a Director of the Art of Living Teacher Training Course and Head of the youth wing of The Art of Living Foundation, I conduct youth empowerment and skill workshops across various countries to uplift the young generation. My real joy lies in empowering the youth with strong human values so that they can make a difference to the world. Now, I travel the world teaching the Art of Living courses and have created an exquisite brand of shining authentic jewels in the form of my students. In fact, I still cherish those moments when I conducted a programme for youth representing 123 countries at the World Youth Forum at the European Parliament in 2007. So what's next on my to-do list? I am involved with Volunteers For A Better India (VFABI) - a social initiative started by AOL, that aims to inspire every individual to come forward, feel responsible and contribute to uplifting India. I have a long way to go. I have been associated with the Art Of Living for over 15 years and yet, I feel, my journey has just begun. I have huge responsibilities on my shoulders and I will not rest in peace until my last breath. By Atika Dandia 20 Find Good Karma at: www.speakingtree.in and hindi.speakingtree.in
  13. 13. Live your life the ThetaHealing way An individual can have certain subconscious beliefs that limit him/her from progressing in life. These beliefs can be acquired from childhood, from one's past life, from one's ancestors, through one's genes, or at the soul level. ThetaHealing is a way of empowering an individual by changing the limiting beliefs with positive ones from the Creator Of All That Is. ThetaHealing was founded in 1995 by Vianna Stibal ,an intuitive reader and naturopath from Idaho Falls, USA, after she was able to cure the cancer in her leg miraculously. What is ThetaHealing? ThetaHealing is a simple yet powerful technique which can bring everlasting positive changes in your life in a very gentle way. It's a process of meditation that creates physical, psychological and spiritual healing, using Theta brainwaves. In fact, in a pure and divine Theta state of mind, we are able to connect with the Creator of All That Is. ThetaHealing includes the Seven Planes Of Existence, that compose the Essence of Divinity. The Planes of Existence provide us with a conceptual instrument for understanding how and why creation works on the physical and spiritual level, and how this relates to us on all levels of our being: mentally, psychically, physically and emotionally. ThetaHealing also includes Belief Work and Feeling Work, which help a person to identify, remove and replace limiting negative thoughts and beliefs with positive ones. In ThetaHealing, the Creator is the Healer, while the practitioner takes on the role of a facilitator, witnessing the healing in a non-judgemental manner. ThetaHealing can become an excellent self-help guide, when one learns this modality. After learning, one can not only heal oneself, one's family members and friends, one can also practice as a professional ThetaHealing practitioner. Practitioners of other healing modalities and conventional and alternate medical professionals can easily learn and combine this technique with their practice. ThetaHealing includes innumerable processes that can be used daily to lead a happy, healthy, successful and peaceful life. In fact, ThetaHealing can become a way of life for anybody who practices it regularly. Home is where the heart is Our home is the centre-point of our life. But not many know that the objects in our house hold on to memories, emotions, and imprints of everything that is happening within the home. Our house retains the residual energy of people who have lived in it. It also holds on to negative energies and curses, making it difficult for people residing in such homes to progress in their lives, or to achieve mutual harmony. However, ThetaHealing helps release all the negative energies and curses using the Creator's energy, which blesses the home with peace, love, joy and harmony. 14. 14. My Experiences With Integrated Complementary Therapies I offer a bouquet of complementary therapies, which I use in an integrated, holistic and customised manner, for healing and counselling. These therapies range from hypnotherapy and foot reflexology to bio-guided music therapy and art therapy. As a result of the above approach, I have been able to achieve remarkable results with both psychological and physical problems. My goal has been to help individuals understand the origin of their feelings and reframe them for a cure. Here are a few case histories: A child who had met with an accident and was reduced to an invalid state, was brought to me in a wheelchair. The challenge before me was about how I could make a positive difference to her health. Initially, by administering Foot Reflexology at appropriate points in a specific manner, I could restore some of the health energy flow, besides providing comfort and a sense of well-being to the child. Then, I used Tibetan Bowl Therapy by placing four bowls around her head. The striking of the bowl, which gave rise to sound waves, started showing good results. The change in her expression, her ability to move and make eye contact, all became positive. I cured insomnia in another person who had suffered it for many years and failed despite trying several traditional routes to cure the problem. In his case, music therapy, coupled with audio-visual relaxation therapy, proved to be very effective. The patient felt relieved and his insomnia also disappeared. I have also treated stress-related psycho-somatic disorders using hypnotherapy. A person was traumatised by fears of death. When the person came to me for healing, hypnosis and relaxation techniques over a period of time helped subside his disorder. The person was finally able to take charge of his life and lead a normal life. Even palliative cancer patients have been treated using this technique. Both music and verbal relaxation therapies were effective in reducing chemotherapy-induced anxiety. Patients with a high state of anxiety obtained the most beneficial results from these techniques. The brain is constantly changing, learning and evolving. Therefore, neurological shifts were observed in a patient suffering from obsessive compulsive behavior (OCD). The patient was at a loss to understand why her thoughts, feelings and behaviour were distorted. In this case, counselling beyond words and administering music therapy and hypnotherapy helped her to calm down. Her disturbing memories soon began to fade away, giving way to a positive change. Thus, holistic healing used in an integrated manner provides remarkable immediate and long-term relief to individuals and patients. The opportunity to touch, hear, emphathise and counsel through various therapies, makes theirs as well as my life happier, healthier and calmer. 15. 15. Divine Healing: An Artist's Perspective As the light of the Sun is received by every human being, of all religions, equally, so do Eashwar, Waheguru, Allah and Jesus, shower grace on us all equally - Sad Guru Vani With the inspirational learning of Shri Braham Rishi Kumar Swamiji, my Guruji, I started realising how medical science in the 21st century is belatedly discovering the powerful reality of divine healing a truth that men and women of faith have known and experienced for centuries. Medical journals and other secular media abound with recent studies that show, for example, the documentable power of prayer in healing sickness. Divine Healing is also known as spiritual healing or faith healing, but an increasing number of writers are applauding the healing power of praying for the sick. Understanding this aspect of spiritual healing, as an artist, is what makes art special. Great art has universal appeal, because it has a message that moves us deeply or awakens us to new insights into human nature. Art touches us every day and every where - at home, at school, in the office, and on the street. Art is both a process and product of man's creativity; it is an experience. Art in any form informs, entertains, enlightens and educates people in all possible ways. Through art, people express their emotions, such as love, happiness, sadness or sorrow. It is also close to the truth. Art not only imitates life, it inspires life too. Throughout Time, great artworks tell our history, express our desires, and speak of our fears. In short, they help us to express ourselves. Using just one piece of artwork, we can convey many messages without saying a word. Art is amazing and endless. In its every visible form, art is a beautiful and divine source of energy. Even after the great departure of an artist, art is successful in reflecting the great knowledge of expression with its wonderful point of vision. Finally, it can be a masterpiece. The powerful divine healing art can be anything: just the way you walk can be a great source of energy for everyone. We can easily feel the difference between the materialistic world and the divine world, in the perspective view of divine healings. In brief, in my work, I love to reflect the spiritual, divine form in a more culturalistic and prominent way. As India is rich in its culture, so is art a non-deniable feature, and basically, a significant part of our life. To conclude, God is the greatest artist, and Nature is his canvas. 16. 16. KkuchhalPathi: Holistic Healthcare Through Tattva Balancing Tools People usually advice others: "You can't just trust everyone". But ever wondered what we are actually implying when we make a statement like that: We are saying our mothers failed to become our gurus in the best possible way! Yet another advice we dish out is: "Dream Big! But what comprises BIG is the big question! Does Big mean wealthier, or healthier? So much confusion exists due to lack of self-confidence on one hand, and inability of acquiring confidence from the mother as Guru. The root cause of this "lack of self- confidence" is an imbalance in the composition of the five tattvas. Adding to the confusion is the fact that our youth are not all that attracted towards healthy options like Patanjali Yog and Pranayam because there is no instant way to measure the benefits received. To remove all the existing confusion, EmbeddedTekGuru, Prof Agarwal, also known as Krishnaansh, now with a new name acquired from society - KkuchhalGuru has established two core technologies: Naveen SamayChakr: which gave birth to GyanWatch technology, and PranWatch Technology, which gave birth to Digital Shunkh meter, which measures internal climate (immunity level) of the person. This Shunkhmeter system became the certifying agency for pranayam. These technologies made it possible to know the indigestive element in the self, which is the root cause of falling ill repeatedly. Tap the shunkh value to know its benefits instantly. KkuchhalGuru has created Kkuchhalpathi-style yogasan and breathing techniques to improve the internal climate. One 15-minute session with any Kkuchhalpathi expert ensures at least 15 per cent improvement in shunkh value. Kkuchhal Constant is the shunkh value at which the person achieves almost 90 per cent freedom from diseases, calculated through Numocal technology. Prof Agarwal is an electronics engineer from IISc, Bangalore. An expert in Rejection Control, he was asked to create something which could reduce the phenomenon of everyone rejecting life. Indeed, Kkuchhalpathi is the system of cure/recovery (supported by Digital Measurement Systems) that he created. Fundamentally, Kkuchhalpathi is a lifestyle methodology which ensures balance in tattva and sattva, with a shunkh- protection cubicle being built around oneself against external germ attack. The best part of this healing method is that the shunkh shield does not allow for any confusion. Prior to any activity, it helps one predict the results of the activity. So, energise yourself, remain disease-free and gear up to be a part of a Nishchhal World - a confusion- and disease- free global society! 17. 17. How To Heal Your Life From the time we are born till we grow up to become adults, our minds are constantly conditioned to go along with others' opinions on what is right and wrong. As a result, we start drifting away from who we truly are at the core of our being, which is - Pure Love and Perfection! We begin to see ourselves through the eyes of other people, thereby giving our own power away! Most people today are unhappy with their lives. Either their relationships are falling apart or they are constantly under pressure to perform at work and no matter how hard they work, they don't seem to be moving ahead. While some live with a low self-esteem, thinking that they are not good enough, others bend backwards to please others, even at the cost of their own happiness, as it gives them a feel-good factor about themselves, so they feel appreciated and loved. But all these mindsets result in constant stress and strain. No wonder, more and more people are developing health problems. Through it all, we fail to acknowledge even to ourselves, that we all want just one thing: To Love and Be Loved. The Heal Your Life Workshop The workshop empowers you on all levels of your being mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. It teaches you that the Universe is like a mirror: what you give out is what you get back. If you give out jealousy, you will attract luck; if you give out happiness, you will attract joy. Therefore, the most fundamental thing to learn is to love oneself unconditionally, because it sets in motion positive changes in other areas of your life. All of us experience emotions like anger, guilt, fear etc. This workshop teaches you how to accept and channelise your emotions in an effective manner and how to reduce the intensity and frequency of experiencing them. You will identify the limiting, negative beliefs and patterns that have stopped you from moving ahead in your life, and change them into positive beliefs and patterns. You begin to understand the power of your mind and how it's your thoughts which create your reality and your experiences, that you and only you is responsible for your life. 18. 18. Healing Journey - Choices And Solutions After Abuse Before we talk about abuse, let us understand what the word really means. Breaking the word abuse into ab (about) and use (being used) - reveals that it's all about being used. Hence, abuse literally means being used in a way that is not acceptable. This may be of various types - emotional, physical, mental, verbal, substance, sexual and economical. All the above types are equally damaging. Abuse could be inflicted on oneself by ourselves or by others. When we abuse ourselves, it is known as 'self-abuse'. When we abuse others, it is an example of 'power play'. Any kind of abuse is generally dealt with using silence, as talking about it needs courage. Sadly, even today, it is the image of the victim (usually a girl) that gets tarnished, making her feel it's her fault. There is, consequently, a huge sense of shame and vulnerability attached to the issue. On the personal front, I've been trying to get over a sexual abuse I went through as a child at six years of age. Today, after resolving my own issues, I am fearless and have the courage to break my silence and speak up for myself as well as others. I hold no anger against anyone. Rather, I have a massive learning to move ahead in life and help others too. My effort to speak on this topic is to help someone like me and empower them tackle the root cause and it's effects and make their life blossom. The social virus known as abuse can strike anyone, anytime. The 'feeling of shame' is a big reason that these cases go unreported and result in silence, secrecy and misjudgment. Abuse is a 'huge silent killer'. It is a precursor to many health issues e.g. bipolar disorder, Parkinson's disease, polycystic ovaries, obesity, thyroid, endometriosis, pimples, infertility, skin issues - the list goes on. The process of Healing consists of three As: Awareness Awareness Awareness means a realisation of the gravity of the situation regarding what is abuse, who can be abused, how does an abuser look and behave, and how does a victim behave, how we can make her/him safe and who can she or he seek help from. Acceptance Acceptance means taking the responsibility of tackling the problem. This comprises making chances, choices, and changes. Action Action means the process of doing something, typically to achieve an AIM, which needs - Courage, Compassion and Connection. So many unheard screams/ in silence/screams spoke louder than words could ever speak. Today, together/let us take a pledge to speak up/so that this never happens again. Break your silence/speak up/and save the pattern from repeating itself. 19. 19. Anger Management and Mind Empowerment The saying goes that anger kills and the mind heals. But it's really not anger that kills; it is the way we process that anger that hurts us or makes us very sick. After all, our body is a mirror of our inner thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Every single cell in the body has its own intelligence and is able to listen to what we are thinking and to feel what we are expressing emotionally. Repetitive modes of thinking and suppressing negative emotions can and will eventually manifest as a disease of the mind, which leads to further diseases in the body. Suppressed emotions, literally, act like ticking bombs waiting for the perfect conditions to detonate and manifest as disease. Anger is, undoubtedly, a self-defeating and self- destructive emotion. It can cause physical problems like disturbed sleep, tiredness, hypertension, heart problems, ulcers, stiffness in the joints, cancer and other physical complications. Anger, when out of control, can lead to violence against someone you are close to, leading to physical injury, even fatalities. You may say or do things that you cannot undo. Relationships get damaged, sometimes irreversibly. The victim may either retaliate or withdraw, giving in to the fight or flight impulse. In either case, the relationship suffers, as the relationship finishes at the emotional level. But, understanding the root cause of anger enables us to control it through mind empowerment. The root causes of anger are: Unfulfilled desires and expectations. Ego and self-centeredness. Discontentment. Low self-esteem. Lack of self-control. Ignorance of the 'true' self or body consciousness. The effects of anger are: It pushes back your good qualities. It sours relationships. It brings disrespect. It blocks co-operation. It takes away happiness. It ends in repentance. It depletes energy. It clouds judgments. It causes emotional imbalance. It results in an irritable nature. It leads to unbecoming conduct. Anger management through mind empowerment If we really want to get rid of anger, we will have to empower our mind by: Being aware of anger and its effect on the quality of life Accepting that anger is irrational Acknowledging the role of the self in its creation Avoiding self- condemnation Accepting the responsibility of changing it Taking the action of changing it For empowering the mind, you have to know what the mind is, how it works, how it deceives you at every turn, and by what methods it can be subdued. Eventually, you could, indeed, become the master of your mind. 20. 20. Acupressure - Cure ills Without Pills We suffer from one physical ailment or the other since our birth. But do you know, we have an inbuilt system to heal any disease? If you pay attention, you will find the answer to your pain in the pain itself. For example, when you have a headache, what is the first thing that you want to do? Press the area of pain, isn't it? What if you have aching pain in your legs? Again, massage the area, isn't it? Indeed, acupressure, or applying pressure at the place of pain, is a natural process of healing. In Acupressure Therapy, all ailments - whether physical, mental or emotional - can be treated by improving the flow of energy to that part of the body. The therapy believes that energy flows along a specific path in our body, known as a meridien. There are 12 meridians or energy paths in our body, each meridian representing one of the body organs. Each meridian, in turn, has dense energy points. For instance, the Liver meridian (Liv) has 14 dense energy points, the Gall Bladder (Gb) 44, the Heart (H) 9, the Small Intestine (Si) 19, the Spleen (Sp) 21, the Stomach (St) 45, the Lungs (Lu) 11, the Large Intestine (Li) 20, the Kidney (K) 27, the Urinary Bladder (Ub) 67, the Pericardium (P) 9 and the Tripple Warmer (Tw) 23. Each Acupressure point has a specific action on the body system when pressed, stimulated or massaged. Liv-1 enhances memory; Liv-2 treats excess bleeding during menses and controls high BP in young people; Liv-3 is good for muscle cramps, mainly calf muscles; Liv-4 treats dribbling urination, especially in old people; Liv-5 treats vaginal itching; Gb-20 is good for high BP; Gb-40 is good for insomnia; Sp-2 is an excellent for curing uric acid and the resultant joints pain; Sp-3 is good for concentration and controls excess thinking; Sp-8 is good for treating incontinence of urination in females; St-40 expels out the phlegm from the body as well as stops excess phlegm formation; St-45 treats hyperacidity; Lu-5 is good to cure breathing from mouth; Lu-8 treats fear of lifts, crowds and closed rooms; Lu-11 treats dry cough; Li-4 is a good pain killer, especially in the head; Li-20 treats sneezing and running nose; K-2 treats acne in youngsters; K-5 treats fear of passing stool, especially in infants; K-7 treats bleeding piles.
