Speaking Engagement Pitch - Miracle Ear

Joe Sharlip Available for Speaking Engagements A school nurse first identified Joe Sharlip’s early hearing loss when he was 11 years old. Over time and after numerous visits to ENTs and their audiologists, it was determined that he suffered from genetic sensorineural hearing loss. Joe’s father and sister becoming deaf in their fifties was a confirmation of the diagnosis. At age 45 during an insensitive conversation at work, his boss chided that he was missing important details in meetings and recommended a hearing aid. So began Joe’s journey as a hearing aid user. Over the past 20 years Joe has worn numerous types of analog and digital devices. Due to some bad information he only wore one hearing aid in his right ear, which led him to experience greater loss in his left ear over time due to a condition known as auditory deprivation. Unfortunately, Joe never felt totally satisfied with any of these devices or the minimal improvement to his hearing. Then Joe met Charles Erickson, the new owner of the Miracle Ear store in Palm Desert, and agreed to try advanced-technology hearing aids in both ears. Finally, someone analyzed his audiograms and word recognition scores correctly and offered sound logic that convinced Joe to wear two hearing aids. He agreed to try it, and his experience has been fantastic. Joe, who became a Marketing Consultant with Miracle Ear in early 2015, is now on a mission to enlighten people about hearing loss, its pathological and social impact, and how to balance lifestyle and technology when making the difficult decision to try a hearing aid. Influenced by his own journey, he provides a simple and comprehensive discussion of hearing loss, its impact on health, and options for hearing improvement. Anyone who has experienced hearing loss, or has loved ones in need of hearing assistance, will be excited to hear his passionate and informative talk.
