It was, therefore, with great apprehension that the team of E Cell undertook the task, knowing full well that the times weren't conducive to expect any support from the industry. Recessionary times aren't exactly the best of times to organize an event on a National scale, that too for the first time, and to be greeted with closed doors from all sides was only expected. But what the team did have was the complete backing of the college administration, which frankly speaking, was a big confidence booster. With a total of 5 different events, namely the B-plan competition, Innovation Challenge, VC Pitch, Leadership Lecture and Panel Discussions, it was a stressful time for the organizers to coordinate the various events, publicise them, follow up with the visiting delegates from the corporate sector, while simultaneously looking for financial support.

Since this event was envisioned as a turning point in the history of DTU, it was necessary to make the right first impression. Therefore, famous youth icons like Mr.Rahul Gandhi, and business tycoons like Mr.Sanjiv Bajaj(MD, Bajaj Capital) were invited. Of course, getting such people to take time off their busy schedules to attend the event was quite an onerous task.

It was disappointing to not be able to get Mr. Gandhi as a guest of honour (which perhaps was due to his commitments to election campaign), but participation by some very notable names from the corporate sector, such as the CEOs of Yatra.com, Naukri.com, Minda Group, Alstom (India), Yahoo! India, and Mr.Sanjiv Bajaj himself along with many others couldn't help but lift our spirits.

The event, scheduled for the 20th and 21st of February, 09, attracted excellent participation from students from all across the country including the elite institutions of the country such as the IIMs, NITs and IITs. The main event of the Summit, B-Plan competition, was a runaway success. With an informal setting, allowing for discussions and intense questioning by the judges, participants sweated it out for a first prize of Rs.60,000. It was finally bagged by the team from IIT Delhi. On the whole the entire event went off quite smoothly and we couldn't have hoped for anything better
