October 24-25, 2013 at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai About the AgriCorp: The Agriculture Committee of Bombay Chamber has been organizing AgriCorp Conference since the

year 2000. The Conference continues to take lead and maintain its distinctiveness through well

articulated recommendations which provides a road map for creating a facilitative environment to

enhance growth and development of Agriculture.

Objective:

To understand recent developments, trends, challenges in agriculture and Identify actionable areas to make the sector profitable.

To recommend areas for modernization and improving efficiency along the value chain

About Bombay Chamber:

Established in 1836, the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the oldest Chambers

in the Country. Bombay Chamber has an illustrious history of 177 years, and has, as its constituents,

more than 4500 professionally-run companies from various sectors who together contribute a

significant portion of India‟s trillion dollar economy.

The Chamber has played a significant role in the development Mumbai. The Chamber serves as an

effective vehicle of communication between the regulatory bodies, the corporate and the society. The

Chamber collaborates with other Industry associations, industry associations from Mofussil areas and

thus increases its reach to the decision makers beyond boundaries of Mumbai. The Chamber

contributes effectively towards overall development of its member companies by addressing core

issues and remaining responsive to the needs of business.

Over the past few years the Bombay Chamber has moved somewhat from the traditional role of

advocacy with Government and facilitating trade and Industry to play a larger role of "Corporate as a

Citizen". Bombay Chamber is also concentrating on promoting good Governance and ethical conduct

in business and public life towards the greater good of Society encompassing promotion of skills

training, arts and culture, in addition to ensuring equitable and balanced industrial growth in a

sustainable manner.

Mr. Sanjay Kaul, Chairman, AgriCorp 2013 and MD & CEO, National Collateral Management

Mr. Sanjay Kaul is currently, MD & CEO of National Collateral Management Services Limited (NCML).

Professional experience spanning 36 years, of which 28 years has been in the Indian Administrative

Service (1979 batch, Karnataka Cadre), 5 years in the private sector, and 3 years in teaching/research

assignments. Prior to joining NCML, he worked as the first Director and CEO of the NCDEX Institute of

Commodity Markets & Research, His last assignment with the Government was as Joint Secretary (FCI and Food Policy),

Mr. Anil B Jain, Chairman, Agriculture Committee & Member Managing Committee, Bombay

Chamber and MD &CEO, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd.

Mr. Anil Jain has served as Managing Director and CEO of Jain Irrigation Systems since 1992. He is a

veteran professional with over 25 years of experience in core strategic areas such as finance and

banking, domestic and international marketing, strategic planning, horizontal and vertical expansion, and

change management. He is an advocate for the marginal, subjugated farmer‟s cause across the world,

and works zealously for the issues of food security and water security in the underdeveloped and

Homi R Khusrokhan, Financial Advisor.

Mr. Homi Khusrokhan is a B.Com from Bombay University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered

Accountants of India and a M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He

worked for 29 years with Glaxo & Burroughs Wellcome in India and retired in 2000 as MD of both

companies. Thereafter he was MD of Tata Tea and later Tata Chemicals, both globally ranked 2nd

in their

industries. After retirement from the Tata Group in 2008, he now serves on the Boards of several

companies in a non-executive and advisory capacity. In February 2009, he was appointed a Special

Adviser to the Government-appointed Board of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. to assist with the successful turn-round of

the company and the induction of a new strategic investor. He is President of the Bombay Natural History Society and

Chairman of the Western Region of the Employers Federation of India. He has been the Chairman of the Advisory

Dr. Dilip Kulkarni, President- AgriFood Business, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd.

Dr. Kulkarni graduated in agriculture and earned a prestigious fellowship of FAO to acquire his Master‟s

degree in Food Technology from CFTRI, Mysore and subsequently Ph.D. He was DANIDA Fellow for

one year at Denmark, Consultant in Indonesia, Advisor and visiting Professor at University of Mauritius,

visiting fellow to Chinese Academy of Sciences in China and had academic visits to U.K. Germany,

France, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia, USA. He established Agri Food Research Foundation of India

Mr. Anirban Ghosh, VP - Strategic Planning for Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra

Ltd.

Mr. Anirban Ghosh has studied Electrical Engineering at Jadavpur University, Calcutta and has

subsequently attended the Fellow Program in Management at IIM, Ahmedabad. He began his career

with Hewlett-Packard Division, Blue Star Ltd. and then moved to Modi Xerox. He Joined the Farm

Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 1999 and has handled various portfolios in Sales,

Marketing, Strategy, New Business Development and has been the President of Mahindra USA Inc. Currently he is the Vice

President for Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics in the Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors of

Mr. Kaushik Modak, Managing Director & Head, Corporate Banking, Rabobank International. Mr. Kaushik Modak is a Chartered Accountant and has a career span of over 20 years. At Rabobank

India he is overall responsible for Corporate Banking. Corporate Banking includes all client coverage for

Commercial Banking, Advisory & Debt Market businesses of Rabobank India. Prior to joining Rabobank,

Kaushik was the Principal and Head Debt Capital Market for Bank of America, Over the years he held

various senior level positions in various reputed financial institutions in Corporate Banking, Treasury

Mr. M.V. Subramanian, Head - Rural & Inclusive Banking, Axis Bank Limited.

Mr. MV Subramanian has been a banker for over 35 years. He is now heading the Rural and Inclusive

Banking Department of Axis Bank as a President. Under Rural Banking portfolio, he is responsible for all

types of Agri lending including commodity finance, Warehousing finance,

microcredits and various partnerships with Corporates for tie-up loans. Prior to this bank, he had worked

in Standard Chartered Bank and two nationalised banks. As in-charge of Financial Inclusion vertical, he had worked closely

with the underprivileged sections of the society in execution of projects for rural employment wage distribution, pension

Dr. V. Eswaran, General Manager (Agri Business), State Bank of India, Corporate Centre,

Mumbai.

Dr. V. Eswaran is academically a veterinarian working in State Bank of India for the past 33 years and is

now heading Agri-Business portfolio of State Bank of India covering more than one crore farmer families

responsible for policy making and direction setting for around 10,000 Agri Lending branches across the

country. Dr.V.Eswaran joined State Bank of India in 1981 as Rural Development Officer (RDO) and

worked in various capacities mainly in agriculture development and also as Branch Head (BM) in eight different branches

handling variety of areas including catering the needs of farmers, industries, housing, auto, NRI under Personal-segment

Mr. Bhupen Dubey, Head Integrated Business, United Phosphorus Ltd.

Mr. Bhupen Dubey has worked with global enterprises such as Hoechst, Agrevo, Aventis and Bayer

Crop Science. His academic achievements include a Gold medal and Dr. M. S. Swaminathan

scholarship for his post-graduate studies in Agriculture Science. Bhupen is armed with a Diploma in

Mr. Narendranath Mishra, GVP & Head-Agri & Inclusive Banking, Development Credit Bank Ltd.

Mr. Mishra is Graduate in Agriculture and PGDRM from IRMA, Anand. He has a work Experience of more

than 14 years including Rallis India Limited, ICICI Bank and DCB Bank. He Heads Agri and inclusive

banking since 2007 in DCB Bank. Played a pivotal role in rolling out bank‟s footprint in rural and semi

Mr. Vimal Tripathi, Deputy Vice President, HDFC Bank Ltd.

Mr. Vimal Tripathi is currently working as Vice President, Rural Initiative Group at Mumbai. He looks after

the Rural initiatives like development of Rural micro payment infrastructure through ATMs, Micro ATMs &

Mobile phones, working with the Agri Value chains & adoption of villages for Financial Inclusion. Prior to

this he was working with the NABARD in Institutional Development department & Rural Infrastructure

Mr. Saxena is currently the General Manager Institutional Partnerships with Rallis India Ltd. and responsible for collaborative partnership with corporate, Govt institutes, Institutional Business, Seed Treatment Chemicals and House hold pesticides. He has over 22 years of experience in the sales and marketing of agri inputs in various states of India. Mr. Saxena has worked with Rallis for over 18 years and some of his responsibilities here include sales of pesticides bulk and technical to over 40 pesticide

companies in India, formation of corporate alliance with retail chains and fertilizer companies. He is associated with some of

Ms. Neera Saggi is a Masters in English Literature and an MBA. She has worked with the Indian

Administrative Service (IAS), with multiple stakeholders and in different sectors including health,

commerce, shipping and ports. Besides other assignments, she was District Magistrate Hooghly in West

Bengal, Dy. Chairperson with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), CMD of Hindustan Diamond

Corporation and Development Commissioner of SEZ for the western region. Presently, Ms. Saggi is the

Dr. Ashok Gulati, Chairman, Commission for Agri Cost & Prices.

Dr. Ashok Gulati is Chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), since March,

2011. Prior to this, he was Director at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Before

joining IFPRI, he also served as NABARD Chair Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth, and Chief

Economist at the National Council of Applied Economics Research in India. He has his M.A. and Ph.D. in

economics from the Delhi School of Economics (India). He has been deeply involved in agri-policy

analysis and advice in India. He was a member of the Prime Minister‟s Economic Advisory Council; a member of the State

Planning Board of Karnataka; and a member of the Economic Advisory Committee of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Siraj Hussain joined the IAS in 1979 and served the Government of Uttar Pradesh in various capacities

Mr. Surojit Shome, CEO & Country Head – India, Rabobank International.

Mr. Surojit Shome has close to 25 years of experience since graduating from XLRI in1986. He has

worked with Asian Paints, Citibank, Lehman Brothers and Nomura Securities prior to taking over as CEO

of Rabo India in 2009. In his nineteen year stint with Citigroup, he held various business management,

origination and risk management roles with assignments overseas. In his role as MD & Head of the

Investment Banking Division at Lehman Brothers in India, he was responsible for building the investment

banking platform. Surojit holds a post-graduate management degree in Marketing & Finance from XLRI Jamshedpur and a

Mr. Bastiaan Mohrmann joined the International Finance Corporation in 1992 in Washington, DC, as

investment officer. He was active across agribusiness, manufacturing and mining sectors, including a

two-year stint in Johannesburg heading new business development in South Africa. At IFC, advisory

services he grew the supply chain linkages program, headed the IFC SME team and championed the

emerging field of water footprint. In January 2011, he assumed his current position based in Kolkata. Prior to IFC, Mr.

Mohrmann worked for the European Commission in Brussels and HVA from The Netherlands. He has an MSc from

Wageningen University, The Netherlands, in Agricultural Engineering, specialized in irrigation, hydrology and management

Mr. Somnath Jadhav is presently working as Vice President and Sr. Engineer- Irrigation Projects with Jain

Irrigation Systems Ltd. at Jalgaon. He is an agricultural engineer having 24 years experience in the

irrigation sector in general and micro irrigation in particular. He has been working with Jain Irrigation since

last 20 years in different capacities. His area of expertise is micro irrigation projects. He is engaged in

survey, design, installation of micro irrigation projects and water management projects including drip and

sprinkler irrigation of large size. He has been heading “On Demand Irrigation Division” of Jain Irrigation, engaged in

Dr. M. S. Patel, Secretary is Secretary (Kalpasar), Narmada, Water Resources & Water Supply & Kalpasar

Department, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar since April 2006. As the youngest technocrat Secretary

(at the age of 42 years) in the Water Resources Department among the Engineering fraternity with an

Mr. Rajshekar has over 38 years of professional experience in Banking, Finance, Loans, Facilitating Credit

flow for Promotion and Development of Agriculture. He retired as General Manager from NABARD.

Presently he is Consultant in NABARD for Rural Infrastructure and Development Fund (RIDF) Operations

pertaining to Major, Medium and Minor Irrigation Projects. He has prepared Model Guideline of Bankable

Lift Irrigation Scheme which was circulated to all the concerned banks in the country. He is Masters in

Sciences: Geology from Karnataka University, Dharwar, India. He has a Technical paper on `Impact of

Ms. Shirisha Gopu is an Agribusiness professional from MANAGE with 10 years of experience in Agri

Input marketing and Commodity management. Prior to joining Coromandel, she has worked with Dow

Agri sciences and NCMSL. She has worked as Regional Manager-South for NCMSL and played a

crucial role in establishing the company‟s presence in South India .She has handled Specialty Nutrients

category for Coromandel Retail division and has started Credit Services to Farmers through Retail

Mr. Asitava Sen is Senior Director and Head of Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory (FAR) for

Rabobank Group in India. As leader of the FAR team in India, he oversees Rabobank‟s F&A research

and strategic client engagements across the “farm to fork” chain. He personally specializes in the sugar

and value added processing sub-sectors. Asitava has over 18 years of experience in management

consulting, research & marketing focused around agribusiness value chains and consumer industries.

His prior work experience covers organizations like PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), The Nielsen

Company and Deloitte Consulting where he had handled several senior level assignments. Asitava is a Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Rajiv Bahety studied at Sholapur and then graduated in commerce while taking practical training in

business at Delhi. Later on he went to established cloth & construction business in Sholapur & Mumbai.

In 2005, focused on helping agriculture problems faced by family at Harda, this gave insight in to the day

to day problems faced by the farmers & motivated Mr. Bahety to study the problem in detail. The

Narmada Valley Rural Development Foundation Trust was formed by Mr. Rajiv Bahety & Mr. Ravindra

Dr. Ganesh Ramamurthi heads the Testing & Certification department branded as CommGrade of NCML

as well as Crop & Weather Intelligence Group. Before joining NCML, he had been heading the

and Industry (FICCI).He worked closely with the Ministry of Agriculture on policy formulation and

Mr. Arindom Datta has over 20 years of experience in Rural Finance, Cooperative Banking, Microfinance

and Agribusiness. He heads the Rural banking and advisory portfolio in India and for Rabobank
