Paul Davies, Principal, Banarra

Paul Davies is a Principal at Banarra and leads Banarra’s Reporting and Assurance service line. Paul has more than 25 years of experience working, researching, training and publishing in sustainability, auditing and stakeholder relations across a broad range of sectors. Marian Gruber, Director, ZOOiD

Marian Gruber holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing with Honours (RMIT), Bachelor of Science (Australian Environmental Studies) (Griffith University) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Marian founded ZOOiD, Australia/New Zealand’s first Certified Training Partner in 2004. She is an Associate Fellow and Certified Practicing Marketer with the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) and member of the Association for Sustainability in Business, and the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA). Marian is a Councillor of the Sustainable Living Foundation.

Amanda Nuttall, Senior Associate, Net Balance Foundation

Amanda Nuttall has eight years professional experience in the sustainability sector and leads Net Balance's Training Programs business line. She is a trainer of a GRI Certified Training Partner and has delivered courses on sustainability reporting, supply chain management and carbon accounting, both in Australia and Asia. Amanda is also Net Balance’s Sustainability Manager and responsible for internal sustainability initiatives, as well as reporting performance through our own externally assured Sustainability Report. In addition, she provides key input, project management and advice on a variety of sustainability assignments.

Kirsten Simpson, Associate Director, Net Balance Foundation

Kirsten Simpson has over a decade of professional experience managing and implementing environmental impact, risk assessment and sustainability projects across the mining, industrial and corporate sectors. During Kirsten's time with Net Balance she has worked with clients in the mining, manufacturing, transport, electricity, water, investment banking and government sectors. Kirsten leads the Net Balance Assurance business line and her core capabilities include the provision of sustainability assurance, sustainability strategy, corporate reporting, environmental due diligence, policy development and stakeholder engagement services.

Gitanjali Bedi, Sustainability Manager, National Centre for Sustainability, Swinburne University of Technology

Gitanjali has fourteen years of experience in environmental and sustainability related fields for NGOs, business, government and academia with specific expertise on developing and delivering leadership and sustainability training programs all over the world. Gitanjali currently works for Swinburne University of Technology (NCS) as a team leader and teacher in education for sustainability in the VET sector. Her expertise covers; corporate sustainability and reporting, climate change and behaviour change, sustainability leadership, systems thinking, environment and development, stakeholder engagement, organisational capacity development, gender, social impact assessment.

Dr Leeora Black, Managing Director, Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility

Leeora D. Black, Ph.D, is founder and managing director of the Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility and an honorary visitor to the La Trobe University Graduate School of Management. Leeora works with senior managers and executive teams to analyse and solve complex CSR issues and problems, create effective corporate and stakeholder strategies and build management capabilities. She applies a capability-development approach to every engagement, ensuring knowledge and skills transfer that facilitate continuous improvement for clients and colleagues both during and after engagements. A widely published author and speaker, Leeora is an experienced and highly sought-after facilitator of workshops and seminars on CSR. Leeora is responsible for all aspects of ACCSR’s direction, strategy and services. After beginning her working life as a journalist and then corporate affairs manager, Leeora established Synergy Communications Pty Ltd, a boutique corporate communications and advisory firm, which she ran for 12 years before undertaking her doctorate in corporate social responsibility through the Department of Management at Monash University. She established ACCSR in 2003. Leeora is a Board Member of the Karma Currency Foundation.

Richard Lambell, Senior Associate, Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility

Rick Lambell is a Senior Consultant at ACCSR and works on stakeholder engagement and strategy projects. He has designed stakeholder engagement strategies, developed CSR frameworks, conducted stakeholder research and analysis and facilitated client workshops in the retail, transportation and mining sectors. Rick previously worked as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia (PwC), working with clients in the retail, telecommunications, health care, energy, gaming and financial services sectors. Rick also played a leading role in internal CSR initiatives at PwC - including a strategic review of community involvement initiatives, training and thought leadership. As a result of these efforts, Rick was awarded the PwC CSR Champion of the Year award in 2010. Rick has a Bachelor of Business (Management) and a Masters in Diplomacy & Trade from Monash University. His Master’s thesis focused on business, NGO and trade union partnerships and worker’s rights in the global sportswear industry. Rick has also co-authored a number of papers on NGO-business relations, and the impact of the global financial crisis on the Australian not-for-profit sector.

16.00-17.30 Introduction to the next generation of GRI Guidelines (G4): How does a global multi-stakeholder network create globally applicable sustainability reporting guidelines?

Dr. Nelmara Arbex, Deputy Chief Executive, Global Reporting Initiative

Dr. Nelmara Arbex joined GRI in 2006 as Learning Services Director; today she is responsible for the Guidance, Support and Innovation team. She supervises the technical content development of GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Framework. Nelmara is also responsible for the design and implementation of services for reporters and information users, and for GRI’s Learning Services Department. Nelmara joined GRI with a wealth of experience in corporate responsibility and sustainable development. She was head of Corporate Responsibility at Natura Cosmetics, Brazil for three years. Prior to that, Nelmara was manager of Knowledge and International Relations at the non-for-profit CSR organization Ethos Institute in Brazil, from 2001 to 2003. Before working at Ethos, she was an associate consultant at McKinsey, São Paulo, Brazil.

Nelmara has collaborated and co-authored several publications, including books, manuals and research papers, and coordinated learning activities such as the ones at FGV Business School-SP, ESADE- Spain, Harvard, among others. Nelmara holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Marburg University, Germany and has been involved in many social and political activities of different civil organizations. She is currently also author of the Portuguese sustainability website and blog Sustentabilidade com Pimenta.

Ernst Ligteringen, Chief Executive, Global Reporting Initiative

Ernst Ligteringen is Chief Executive of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organization with a mission to make sustainability reporting standard practice, driving its vision of a sustainable global economy. Ligteringen has been Chief Executive of GRI since 2002, when GRI was established as an independent organization with an international Secretariat in Amsterdam. Ligteringen is a member of GRI’s multi-stakeholder Board of Directors. Before joining GRI, Ligteringen worked for over 20 years at various non-governmental and international organizations. His positions included postings in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, as Executive Director of Oxfam International, Director of Programme Coordination of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Consultant to the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization at the ILO.

Nigel Williams, Chief Risk Officer, ANZ

Nigel Williams is responsible for ANZ's global risk management infrastructure, overseeing ANZ’s global Credit, Market and Operational Risk and Compliance teams as well as risk related strategies, policies and processes. Nigel is a career banker with more than 27 years’ experience in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Most recently he was Managing Director of Institutional Australia and has previously held the role of Managing Director Institutional, Corporate and Commercial Banking in New Zealand. He joined ANZ in 2004 following the acquisition of The National Bank of New Zealand where he held various Credit, Markets, Treasury and Operational roles within the Lloyds TSB Group. Nigel has a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Marketing, Accounting and Finance and has attended leadership and strategy training at the University of Michigan, USA and Oxford University, England. Nigel was a member of the 2008 NZ Government Taskforce on Capital Markets Development, and was a Director of NZX Limited, E*TRADE Australia Limited and Australian Financial Markets Association, as well as a past Board member of INFINZ and the AUT Business School. He is a member of New Zealand Institute of Directors, and in 2009 was awarded a fellow of INFINZ.

Professor Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He serves as Chairman for the King Committee on Corporate Governance and Honorary Chairman of the Global Reporting Initiative. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship; Honorary Professor at the University of Pretoria; Visiting Professor in the Rhodes Investec Business School; and has an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand. He chaired the United Nations Committee on Governance and Oversight; and is the author of Transient Caretakers (with Teodorina Lessidrenska) and The Corporate Citizen.

Catherine Fox, Deputy Editor, BOSS Magazine, Australian Financial Review

Catherine Fox is deputy editor of AFR Boss magazine and writes a weekly column, `Corporate Woman', for the Australian Financial Review. She joined the AFR in 1989 and has held a variety of positions as an editor and writer. Before joining the AFR she worked in financial services marketing and consulting in Sydney and London. Her second book, The F Word - How we learnt to swear by feminism (New South) with Jane Caro, was published in 2008. The book she co-authored with Helen Trinca, Better than Sex: How a Whole Generation Got Hooked on Work (Random House) was shortlisted for the 2005 Blake Dawson Waldron Business Book of the Year award. Her journalism has won several awards, and she is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences around the country. Catherine has a BA Communications (UTS) and MA Hons (UNSW) and lives in Sydney with her husband and three daughters.

The Hon. Bernie Ripoll MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer

Bernie Ripoll was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1998 and has been re-elected for a fifth term at the 2010 Federal Election.

Bernie commenced in his role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer on 5 March 2012. He will assist the Treasurer in development and implementation of policies in relation to Corporate Governance, Financial Literacy, The Housing Loans Insurance Corporation, The Australian Bureau of Statistics and The Royal Australian Mint.

Since the Labor Party was elected to Government in 2007 till March 2012, Bernie served as Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services. The committee plays an integral role on the reporting and activities of ASIC and the operation of corporation law as well as undertaking national inquires in matters of relevance to the charter and responsibilities of the Committee.

As Chair of the Corporations Committee, Bernie has tabled a number of reports including an inquiry into the franchise sector, the substantial inquiry into the financial services industry (known as the Ripoll Report) and the Future of Financial Advice legislation to name a few.

Bernie is actively involved in local charity work having started the Western Corridor Community Fund, aimed at helping families in need. Bernie is also the patron, founder and organiser of the Brisbane 2 Ipswich annual charity bike ride that raises funds for the Heart Foundation and the Ipswich Hospital Foundation.

He is a passionate ambassador for cycling and its inherent benefits and has been formally recognised by the Cycling Promotion Fund for his advocacy over many years for cycling infrastructure and active transport alternatives.

Before being elected to Parliament, Bernie completed an electrical trade qualification, was a member of the Royal Australian Air Force and received his marketing degree through the Queensland University of Technology.

10.10-11.30 Plenary Panel: The Role Of Reporting In The Transition to A Sustainable Economy

Ian Ball, Chief Executive Officer, International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)

Ian Ball is the Chief Executive Officer of IFAC, an organisation comprised of 167 members and associates in 127 countries and jurisdictions. In this role, Ian oversees a staff of professionals involved in developing standards, guidance, and programs to support professional accountants worldwide in providing high-quality service. Since 2010, Ian has served as co-chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) Working Group. Ian previously served as Chairman of IFAC’s Public Sector Committee from 1995 to 2000 and played a key role in initiating the development of international standards for public sector financial reporting. Prior to his current role, Ian was Principal of Public Sector Performance (NZ) Ltd. and Professor of Accounting and Public Policy at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, a position he still holds. From 1987 through 1994, he was Central Financial Controller in the New Zealand Treasury. Ian is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, where he served as a member of the Council and of the Executive Board, and of CPA Australia. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in the United Kingdom. He has a PhD in local government finance and administration from the University of Birmingham, England.

Jane Diplock, Director, Singapore Exchange; Former Chairman of the New Zealand Securities Commission; Former Chairman of the Executive Committee, International Organization of Securities Commissions

Jane Diplock was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) from 2004 until 2011. Jane was also Chairman of the New Zealand Securities Commission from 2001until 2011. Before this appointment, Jane was the National Director, Infrastructure and Strategic Planning, and New South Wales Regional Commissioner with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. She has also held senior executive positions with Westpac Banking Corporation, and was Managing Director of the New South Wales Technical and Further Education Commission. Jane was appointed an officer of the General Division of the Order of Australia in January 2003 for “service to business and commerce, to public administration, particularly in the areas of education and training, and to the community through a range of social justice, health, educational and cultural organisations”.

Damien Walsh, Managing Director, bankmecu

Damien Walsh was appointed to Managing Director in 2011 after serving as General Manager of Corporate Services for 8 years and also holding the position of Company Secretary. Damien has a total of 23 years’ experience in the mutual banking sector. Damien is responsible for and manages bankmecu's group operations and Human Resources. Damien works with the Board in setting group strategy, monitoring group performance and budget, and in ensuring all prudential, legal and compliance matters for bankmecu are properly adhered to. Damien has been instrumental in shaping bankmecu's response to sustainable development, a highlight was presenting at the 2005 UNEP FI Global Roundtable at the United Nations, New York. Damien is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Business Degree and a Masters in Business Administration.

12.00-13.00 Driving innovation through sustainability reporting

Victoria Whitaker, Network Manager, Global Reporting Initiative Focal Point Australia

Victoria Whitaker is the manager for the Global Reporting Initiative’s Focal Point in Australia. GRI Focal Point Australia works to improve the uptake, usefulness and quality of sustainability reporting in Australia. Since completing a master of education for sustainable development, Victoria has gained 11 years of international experience in sustainability across academia, business, not-for-profits and government. In academia, Victoria lectured the Master of Sustainable Development at Macquarie University while also leading research at the Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability. After this she was a Programme Manager at the University of Cambridge’s Programme for Sustainability Leadership in which she led the Prince of Wales’s Business and Sustainability Program, the Business and Poverty Leadership Programme, the Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Business and Al Gore’s The Climate Project. Victoria’s work with government, business and not for profits has focused on integrating sustainability into organisational policy and strategies, facilitating organisational and behaviour change, as well as conducting research and implementing sustainability reporting.

Stephen Driscoll, Director Sustainability & Policy; Development Director Rouse Hill, Landcom

Stephen Driscoll is a degree qualified town planner (BTP (Hons)) with 20 years’ experience in local and state government, primarily in strategic land use planning and policy development. Stephen is currently employed by Landcom, the NSW Government-owned developer, where he has two roles. He is the Development Director Rouse Hill, with development management responsibility for the NSW Government’s involvement in The New Rouse Hill project. This project is a partnership between Landcom, the NSW Department of Planning, and private sector partners Lend Lease and The GPT Group. He is also the Director of Sustainability & Policy where he manages a small team which drives innovation and sustainability implementation across all of Landcom’s projects, including sustainability reporting. His dual roles gives Stephen first-hand experience of how Landcom’s sustainability policies “hit the ground” in a large-scale project, feeding back to sustainability policy development and refinement at Landcom.

Stephen has previously worked for the NSW Department of Planning and Blacktown City Council in senior roles.

Geoff Miller, General Manager, Standard Business Reporting Division, Commonwealth Treasury Geoff Miller is the General Manager of the Standard Business Reporting Division in the Markets Group of the Australian Treasury.

The Standard Business Reporting Division leads Australia’s implementation of standard business reporting (SBR) and provides policy advice to government on matters relating to reducing the reporting burden for business through SBR.

Geoff has extensive experience in the development and implementation of policy that promotes well-functioning markets, stable financial systems and sound corporate practices. In this regard, he has worked closely with business, regulators, and industry and consumer representatives over many years.

Before joining SBR in 2011, Geoff was the General Manager of the Corporations and Financial Services Division, responsible for policy advice to government on matters relating to the

accountability and disclosure practices of corporations, the duties of corporate directors, corporate insolvency and accounting policy, investor protection, financial services and products, licensing of financial advisors, consumer credit, financial markets, and clearing and settlement facilities.

Anna Skarbek, Executive Director, Climate Works

Anna Skarbek is Executive Director of ClimateWorks Australia, a new non-profit collaboration hosted by Monash Sustainability Institute in partnership with The Myer Foundation. Anna is currently a Board Member of the Carbon Market Institute, the Land Sector Carbon & Biodiversity Board, Sustainable Melbourne Fund & Linking Melbourne Authority & was a member of the Australian Government’s NGO Roundtable on Climate Change on 2011. From 2007-2009, Anna worked in London’s carbon markets, as Vice President at Climate Change Capital. Previously in Australia, Anna’s career included senior policy adviser for the Victorian Deputy Premier, investment banker in Macquarie Bank’s energy and utilities team, and solicitor with the national corporate law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques. Anna was also a director of The Big Issue Australia for three years and served on the board of Amnesty International Australia from 2000–2006 in roles including National Treasurer and Victorian President.

John Purcell, Policy Advisor Corporate Regulation, CPA Australia; Member, GRI’s Australian Advisory Group

John Purcell is Policy Adviser ESG with CPA Australia, having responsible for the development of strategy, research, policy and advocacy in the areas of sustainability, corporate social responsibility and corporate law. John has been responsible for preparation of CPA Australia submissions in corporate responsibility & governance, directors’ duties, bankruptcy and insolvency law reform, presenting at a number of parliamentary inquiries on these matters. Further, John has been responsible for the establishing of CPA Australia’s significant international relationships dealing with emerging environmental, social and governance practices, and presenting on these subjects at Australian and international conferences. John is presently a member of the GRI’s Technical Editing Taskforce. Richard Boele, Managing Director, Banarra

Richard Boele is Banarra's Founder and Managing Director. Richard founded Banarra in 2004 and works primarily as a sustainability consultant and is known as a skilful change agent. Richard's particular strengths are the social dimensions of sustainability and leading large and complex consultancy assignments. He also has significant experience in facilitating and delivering senior-level workshops on a range of sustainability scenarios and issues. Passionate about business improvement, change management and embedding sustainability Rebecca has delivered tangible improvements to the sustainability reporting process at BHP Billiton over the last three years in the areas of materiality, case study development and data verification. Nancie-Lee Robinson, General Manager – Governance, Integration & Reporting, Telstra Chief Sustainability Office, Telstra Corporation

Over the past six years, Nancie-Lee Robinson has worked in a variety of roles at Telstra, including community investment, corporate philanthropy, corporate responsibility and sustainability. In her current role she is responsible for Telstra’s ESG benchmarking and reporting, sustainability policy and strategy, and integration of sustainability across the company. Key achievements include writing and producing four Telstra sustainability reports, and establishing Telstra’s Human Rights policy. Lena Geraghty, Network Manager, Focal Point Australia, Global Reporting Initiative

Lena Geraghty is a sustainability professional and was the inaugural manager of the GRI Focal Point in Australia in 2009. She has significant business experience as the first Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Corporate Express Australia. There she was responsible for implementation of their CSR strategy, which led to Corporate Express Australia being named Sustainable Company of the Year at the 8th Australian Sustainability Awards 2008. She was General Manager of a successful environmental sustainability consultancy with state government and major corporate clients. Lena has been involved in not for profit committees including the Sydney St Patricks Day parade and Family Day that reaches some 50,000 people. She was also the former Chair of Buy Recycled Business Alliance in Australia, where organisations like Fuji Xerox, McDonalds, VISY among others came together to help promote the use and purchase of recycled content products. Lena has a BA in History, Sociology and Politics, and Post Graduate Certificate in Business and Sustainability.

Dr Leeora Black, Managing Director, Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility

Leeora D. Black, Ph.D, is founder and managing director of the Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility and an honorary visitor to the La Trobe University Graduate School of Management. Leeora works with senior managers and executive teams to analyse and solve complex CSR issues and problems, create effective corporate and stakeholder strategies and build management capabilities. She applies a capability-development approach to every engagement, ensuring knowledge and skills transfer that facilitate continuous improvement for clients and colleagues both during and after engagements. A widely published author and speaker, Leeora is an experienced and highly sought-after facilitator of workshops and seminars on CSR. Leeora is responsible for all aspects of ACCSR’s direction, strategy and services. After beginning her working life as a journalist and then corporate affairs manager, Leeora established Synergy Communications Pty Ltd, a boutique corporate communications and advisory firm, which she ran for 12 years before undertaking her doctorate in corporate social responsibility through the Department of Management at Monash University. She established ACCSR in 2003.

Peter Colley, National Research Director, Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union; Member, GRI Australian Advisory Group

Peter Colley is responsible for CFMEU policy with respect to mineral and energy economics, trade and the environment. The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union is one of Australia’s largest trade unions and the principal union in the industries of its title. Peter has been active in sustainability reporting and the role of institutional investors since major mining companies breached minimum international workplace human rights standards in the last decade, while claiming to be leading sustainability reporters. Peter has recently been appointed as a global labour representative to the Stakeholder Council of the GRI. Within Australia he has highlighted the need for major Australian companies to improve reporting practices, with a major report released in March 2011.

Nicola Hayhoe, Executive Leader of Policy, Research and Communications, Ability Options

Nicola Hayhoe has been working within disability services for the last 18 years. Her background and passion has been in the provision of individualised community living opportunities, working as a social educator, coordinator and manager. Nicola has been working with Ability Options since 2008, with a focus on supporting the organisation to achieve on its mission and vision, including organizational research and policy to support strategic direction and ensuring that people with a disability are amongst those who drive change.

Bastien Mignonneau, Consultant, Banarra

Bastien Mignonneau is a consultant with Banarra. Following the completion of his Master’s degree in International Business in 2008 from the University of Auckland, Bastien has been focusing his career solely on sustainability & climate change implications in the business environment. Prior to working with Banarra, Bastien held positions as an Analyst then Consultant in Deloitte NZ sustainability & climate change team. Robyn has worked on numerous sustainability reporting projects for private and public sector clients. Amanda Keogh, Sustainability Manager, Fuji Xerox Australia

Amanda Keogh joined Fuji Xerox Australia as environment and sustainability manager in 2007. She has a master degree in sustainable development and a background in ICT marketing. Having spent a number of years in research on corporate sustainability, Amanda has a well-informed view of best practice in this area, which she has applied in her current role. This has involved developing strategy, designing programs to improve the organisation’s sustainability performance and communicating the Fuji Xerox approach to sustainability to both internal and external stakeholders. Amanda sits on the board of the Forest Stewardship Council and is a member of the AIIA e-SIG responsible for working with government on emerging e-waste regulation. Fuji Xerox is known for its

Kane Hardingham, Environmental Manager, Woolworths Limited

Since graduating from Murdoch University in Perth, Kane Hardingham has gained 15 years’ experience in environmental management and sustainability. His diverse career includes several years in the mining industry, a lengthy involvement in the tourism industry and now retail. Kane joined Woolworths in December 2007, to find a large, successful business that had identified the need to incorporate sustainability into its decision making process. Kane’s role is as diverse as the challenges and opportunities that Woolworths faces, providing technical advice to the business divisions on energy, water, waste, recycling, packaging and sustainable sourcing. Kane conducts all regulatory and voluntary environmental reporting, and coordinated the production of the company’s last two Corporate Responsibility Reports, reporting to GRI Application Level A+ for both.

James Porteous, Communications Advisor, MMG

James recently joined the Minerals and Metals Group (MMG) as communications adviser, focusing on sustainability reporting and process. He is a representative on the International Council for Mining and Metals (ICMM) GRI G4 working group. James has 15 years of experience in international environmental and scientific communications across corporate, non-profit and government organisations. He worked in London and the USA for the science journal Nature for 5 years, before engagements with non-profit organisations in Africa and the Asia Pacific. Dr Dimity Podger, Director and Principal, Barasa Consulting Group

In 2011, Dimity Podger founded Barasa Consulting Group, a consulting firm that works with companies and organisations in the areas of values and ethics, organisational learning and development, sustainability and stakeholder engagement. She advises and coaches organisations in the area of ethics and values-based organisational design, learning and development, using values as a lens for innovation in sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. She accompanies organisations in the design of bespoke indicators and assessment tools as a basis for developing values-based practices, including principle based decision-making. She also supports the implementation of ethics and sustainability initiatives with customized engagement and capacity building programs. She is an expert in designing and facilitating participatory approaches to individual and organisational learning and development. By using collaborative approaches, Dimity ensures that her work builds capacity, ownership and commitment to sustainability within organisations. Before starting Barasa Consulting Group, she was the senior research fellow for ESDinds, an EU-funded initiative led by the University of Brighton. Damien Sweeney, Project Manager - Community and Business Sustainability, National Centre for Sustainability, Swinburne University of Technology

Damien Sweeney is a Project Manager at Swinburne University's National Centre for Sustainability.

His background includes working in local government, environmental consulting, non-government

organisations, and industry to progress sustainability through inclusive and effective partnerships

with stakeholders.

Damien has managed sustainability projects involving community and businesses, particularly

focussing on household energy efficiency, including mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and

adaptation to climate change. A key area of work has been the application of behavioural change

frameworks, particularly Community Based Social Marketing, to achieve sustainability outcomes.

Damien has also worked on implementing new models of sustainability education, focussing on

experiential learning.

Damien is currently working in close collaboration with businesses and local government to provide

strategic sustainability input and implementing a broad range of sustainability initiatives, as well as

researching effective evaluation methods for behaviour change projects.

Amanda Nuttall, Senior Associate, Net Balance Foundation

Amanda Nuttall has eight years professional experience in the sustainability sector and leads Net Balance's Training Programs business line. Alex Malley, Chief Executive Officer, CPA Australia

As CEO of CPA Australia, Alex Malley is responsible for 18 offices globally and more than 139,000 members in 114 countries. With such a geographically-diverse business, Alex believes that a multi-platform approach to communication is the linchpin of maintaining quality member service. Shane Lucas joined ANZ in 2010 as Group Head of Sustainable Development. Shane’s team identify, assess, manage, and mitigate social, environmental and reputation risk issues associated with existing or prospective ANZ clients and projects. Prior to ANZ, Shane spent ten years with the Victorian Government, most recently as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Industry and Trade, and has held executive positions in the Departments of Human Services; Planning and Community Development; and Transport. Prior to government, Shane worked as an immigration advocate, specialising in refugee and humanitarian cases; and as an industrial officer with the Finance Sector Union of Australia. Eszter Vitorino Füleky, Network Relations Manager, Global Reporting Initiative

Eszter has been working as part of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Regional Network Team since early 2010 as a Regional Network Coordinator, working with GRI’s Focal Points. She has recently transitioned to a new role managing GRI’s Organizational Stakeholder Program. Prior to joining the team, she has gained experience at the IUCN (World Conservation Union) Netherlands office, the European Commission and a Dutch-Belgian consultancy called Executive Learning Partnership. In her work at GRI, Eszter is focusing adding value to the members of the Organizational Stakeholder program, on exploring new regions and stakeholder groups for GRI’s outreach and working with the team to strengthen the structure of the Regional Network program. Maria Balatbat, Senior Lecturer, Research Coordinator, Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets, University of New South Wales

Dr Maria Balatbat is a Senior Lecturer at the Australia School of Business, University of New South Wales and a Research Coordinator at the Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets. She teaches a postgraduate course on reporting for climate change and sustainability to business and environmental management students and has published in both Australian and international refereed journals. Maria’s research interests include accounting and reporting for greenhouse gases, sustainability reports and environmental, social and governance disclosures. Her mission is to integrate elements of corporate social responsibility in mainstream investment decision making. Dr Balatbat has a PhD in Economics at the University of Sydney and a fellow of CPA Australia. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a consultant and auditor with the Ernst & Young offices in Manila and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Annabelle Bennett, Account Director, Trucost

Annabelle Bennett joined Trucost in June 2006 after studying Business Management at the Oxford Business & Media School. She is responsible for managing Trucost's key client relationships across Europe, South Africa, and Australia, and is a regular speaker at industry events on topics such as environmental impact valuation, GHG Scope 3 regulation, and value chain environmental management. Since joining Trucost she has led ground breaking client projects including studies for BSkyB, Formula 1, Fuji Xerox and Thomson Reuters.

Dr Lara Jefferson, Manager, Environment and Approvals, Crosslands Resources Limited

Since completion of doctoral research on mine site rehabilitation, Lara has worked in a variety of positions in the NGO, consultancy and industry sectors. In 2009 Lara joined Crosslands Resources Ltd as the Manager of Environment and Approvals to implement sound environmental management practices of Crosslands operations from the mine site to the port, as well as working with government to gain a suit of approvals for the Jack Hills Expansion Project. Achievements to date have included the development and implementation of an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System, a 2010 Golden Gecko Award, significant improvement in Crosslands environmental compliance ratings, production of Crosslands inaugural sustainability report in 2011, state and commonwealth approvals, and most recently, the Encycle Award for Contribution to Environmental Sustainability by the National Association of Women in Construction.

Kylie Ashenbrenner is a business consultant with ERM in Perth. She has over 18 years professional experience specialising in sustainability strategy, stakeholder management, environmental approvals and impact assessment, socio-economic development, and corporate affairs advice whilst working in the oil and gas, infrastructure, mining and industrial sectors. She has worked to secure permits, approvals and social licence to operate on projects across Australia. Kylie has a background in science and has built upon that science platform with training and accreditation in facilitation, mediation, and stakeholder engagement.

Wayne Wescott is the Director of Local to Global: The Sustainability Connection, Principal of Wescott and Wyman Global and Senior Sustainability Advisor for the United Cities and Local Governments - Asia Pacific. He is also the Local Government Program Manager for the Green Building Council of Australia and the Bike Futures Strategic Advisor for the Bicycle Network. Wayne served as the Chief Executive Officer of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability – Oceania (ICLEI Oceania) and as the Regional Director in Oceania for ICLEI International. Wayne has worked in not-for-profits, for local and state governments and as a consultant in the area of telecommunications, environmental management and local governance. He has trained individuals and organisations across Australia on Local Agenda 21, and designed and established ICLEI's Cities for Climate Protection® Program in Australia and Communities for Climate Protection in New Zealand, the Water Campaign™ and the Triple Bottom Line Alliance. He was also instrumental in setting up the Centre for Public Agency Sustainability Reporting, a collaboration with the City of Melbourne, the State of Victoria and the Global Reporting Initiative. Wayne is a retiring member of the international Stakeholder Council for the Global Reporting Initiative. Tim Nelson, Head of Economics, Policy and Sustainability, AGL

Tim Nelson is the Head of Economics, Policy and Sustainability at AGL Energy. In this role, Tim is responsible for: AGL’s sustainability strategy; greenhouse accounting and reporting; AGL’s energy and greenhouse research; AGL’s corporate citizenship program, Energy for Life; and formulating energy policy and regulation.

Kate Phillips, Senior Associate, Baker & McKenzie

Kate Phillips is a Senior Associate in Baker & McKenzie's Environmental Markets team. In her role, Kate has advised numerous government and private sector clients on mandatory and voluntary environmental markets, including carbon, water and offset markets. Prior to returning to Baker & McKenzie in 2006, Kate was Corporate Counsel at CO2 Australia Limited - a leading provider of dedicated carbon sinks. Peter McVay, Audit Manager, Performance Audit, Australian Audit Office

Peter McVay is a Senior Director with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO). He has been with the ANAO for over fifteen years and has responsibility for managing audits on the environment and climate change. He managed the audit on the Administration of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS). Peter has also been a policy adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and in the Department of Finance and Deregulation. Peter has a Master of Business Administration, and Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Development and an Honours Degree in Regional and Town Planning.

Tim Youngberry, First Assistant Secretary, Financial Reporting and Cash Management, Department of Finance and Deregulation

Tim Youngberry is responsible for whole-of-government financial reporting, appropriation management, accounting policy and budget system development for the Australian Government. He has been Chief Financial Officer at two large Australian Government agencies, Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) and Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA). The early part of Tim’s career was with Ernst and Young, the Australian National Audit Office and National Australia Bank. Tim has a keen interest in sustainability reporting having led the team that pioneered the production of a sustainability report for the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs in 2003.

Renee Hancock, Member, GRI Australian Advisory Group

Renee Hancock has extensive experience in the field of corporate social responsibility covering strategy, governance, communication and reporting. Between 2005 and 2012, Renee was the Senior Manager of Corporate Responsibility at ANZ. In the past two years, Renee led and delivered a global approach to strategic community investment for the bank including the introduction of a group-wide volunteer program with a focus on skilled volunteering. She also established ANZ’s Disaster Relief and Recovery Policy and coordinated the response for customers and communities impacted by natural disasters including the Queensland floods, Christchurch earthquakes and the Japan earthquake and tsunami. She introduced the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines to ANZ in 2005 and worked on the bank’s first five sustainability reports. Previously a member of the GRI Stakeholder Advisory Council, Renee is an active member of the GRI Australian Focal Point Advisory Group and the Organising Committee for the Australian GRI Conference on Sustainability and Integrated Reporting. Renee has a strong background in marketing communications including consulting to large corporate and government clients. She has a Masters of Marketing from the Melbourne Business School.

James Ensor, Director Public Policy, Oxfam

James Ensor joined Oxfam Australia in 1997 and was responsible for managing overseas development projects. He was appointed Director of Public Policy and Outreach in October 2001. Prior to joining Oxfam Australia, James spent seven years with the Central Land Council in the Northern Territory representing the interests of Indigenous landowners. He is a member of the BHP Billiton Forum on Corporate Responsibility and is past president of the Victorian National Parks Association. He has completed the Melbourne Business School Senior Executive Program and the Cambridge University Prince of Wales’s Business and the Environment Program.

Rod McGuinness, Social Media Producer, ABC

Rod McGuinness is Social Media Producer at ABC Radio. His role oversees strategy and engagement of social media tools for ABC Radio and the ABC OPEN project as well as training and evaluation of social media platforms. Previously he worked as Managing Editor of newmatilda.com for six years. His other roles have included working with NGOs such as Oxfam and the Arts Law Centre of Australia.

Kelvin O’Connor, Chief Operating Officer, Henry Davis York

Kelvin O'Connor is the Chief Operating Officer of Australian law firm Henry Davis York. Kelvin spearheads the firm's sustainability program. In 2008 Henry Davis York produced the firm's first GRI compliant, independently assured sustainability report, which was the first report of its kind in the legal sector in Australia. Henry Davis York is now in its fourth year of reporting and is a held as an example of reporting excellence in the legal sector. Kelvin's focus on sustainability also includes his responsibility for the firm's pro bono and community investments program. He holds a Master of Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales and a Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge.

Rosemary Sainty, Director, Corporate Engagement at Transparency International Australia

Rosemary Sainty was appointed to the newly created position of Director, Corporate Engagement for Transparency International Australia (TIA) in 2011 where she has been building a corporate engagement platform for the Australian business community. Recently she has become an Adviser to TIA whilst she undertakes a PhD in organisational sustainability in the Faculty of Business, University of Technology, Sydney. Prior to this Rosemary worked for four years to establish the National Responsible Business Practice Project funded by the Australian Federal Government and based at St James Ethics Centre. As head of the national project, Rosemary built a world first ‘HUB’ of international initiatives and local resources including the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate citizenship initiative and the Global Reporting Initiative’s Focal Point Australia. Rosemary then spent twelve months as elected Head, Secretariat, Global Compact Network Australia to grow the Network to become the strongest corporate citizenship movement in Australia. Rosemary has published research articles and resources and spoken widely on corporate social responsibility and business ethics, both locally and internationally. She has Masters degrees in psychology and business ethics.

Lena Geraghty, Network Manager, Focal Point Australia, Global Reporting Initiative

Lena Geraghty is a sustainability professional and was the inaugural manager of the GRI Focal Point in Australia in 2009. She has significant business experience as the first Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Corporate Express Australia. There she was responsible for implementation of their CSR strategy, which led to Corporate Express Australia being named Sustainable Company of the Year at the 8th Australian Sustainability Awards 2008. She was General Manager of a successful environmental sustainability consultancy with state government and major corporate clients. Lena has been involved in not for profit committees including the Sydney St Patricks Day parade and Family Day that reaches some 50,000 people. She was also the former Chair of Buy Recycled Business Alliance in Australia, where organisations like Fuji Xerox, McDonalds, VISY among others came together to help promote the use and purchase of recycled content products.

Mardi McBrien, Chief Operating Officer, Carbon Disclosure Standards Board / Carbon Disclosure Project

After graduating from Melbourne University with a double degree in Forest Science / Environmental Science, Mardi relocated from Australia to the UK in 2002 to pursue a career in international forestry. Mardi has an MSc in Agricultural Economics and Development from UCL. Her eclectic career to date includes roles as President of an international students association, public-private partnership management, leading flagship campaigns for the Campaign to Protect Rural England (and the author Bill Bryson), managing WWF-UK’s Earth Hour switching off the lights of London in 2010 and carbon market policy advisor for the UK Government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Mardi joined the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) in early 2011 and is enjoying the challenge of working to mainstream climate change reporting.

Vanessa Zimmerman, Legal Advisor, UN SRSG Business & Human Rights

Vanessa advises multi-stakeholder actors on business and human rights, including Rio Tinto, the Global Business Initiative on Human Rights and the Institute for Human Rights and Business. Between 2006 - 2011, Vanessa was a Legal Advisor to Professor John Ruggie in his capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Business and Human Rights, as well as a research fellow at Harvard’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative. Ernst Ligteringen, Chief Executive, Global Reporting Initiative

Ernst Ligteringen is Chief Executive of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organization with a mission to make sustainability reporting standard practice, driving its vision of a sustainable global economy. Ligteringen has been Chief Executive of GRI since 2002, when GRI was established as an independent organization with an international Secretariat in Amsterdam. Ligteringen is a member of GRI’s multi-stakeholder Board of Directors.

Before joining GRI, Ligteringen worked for over 20 years at various non-governmental and international organizations. His positions included postings in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, as Executive Director of Oxfam International, Director of Programme Coordination of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Consultant to the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization at the ILO.

Dr. Nelmara Arbex, Deputy Chief Executive, Global Reporting Initiative

Dr. Nelmara Arbex joined GRI in 2006 as Learning Services Director; today she is responsible for the Guidance, Support and Innovation team. She supervises the technical content development of GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Framework. Nelmara is also responsible for the design and implementation of services for reporters and information users, and for GRI’s Learning Services Department. Nelmara joined GRI with a wealth of experience in corporate responsibility and sustainable development. She was head of Corporate Responsibility at Natura Cosmetics, Brazil for three years. Prior to that, Nelmara was manager of Knowledge and International Relations at the non-for-profit CSR organization Ethos Institute in Brazil, from 2001 to 2003. Before working at Ethos, she was an associate consultant at McKinsey, São Paulo, Brazil.

Nelmara has collaborated and co-authored several publications, including books, manuals and research papers, and coordinated learning activities such as the ones at FGV Business School-SP, ESADE- Spain, Harvard, among others. Nelmara holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Marburg University, Germany and has been involved in many social and political activities of different civil organizations. She is currently also author of the Portuguese sustainability website and blog Sustentabilidade com Pimenta.

Michael Bray, Chair, Better Business Reporting Group, KPMG

Michael Bray is a KPMG partner with 30 years’ experience in providing audit and advisory services, mainly to companies in the energy and natural resources sector. Michael is a lead participant in the Australian Business Reporting Leaders Forum (BRLF) and Leader of KPMG Australia’s Better Business Reporting Group. He authored KPMG’s ‘Better Business Reporting’ series, and has worked with many organisations on their reporting strategies.

The BRLF is working with the International Integrated Reporting Committee.

Nathan Fabian, Chief Executive, Investor Group on Climate Change

Nathan Fabian is the Chief Executive of the Investor Group on Climate Change, an association of institutional investors with $700bn of funds under management. He previously headed ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Research in investment research and corporate engagement company, Regnan. In other former roles he was founding partner of financial services and IT start-up company advisor, Full Corp Partners; corporate governance policy adviser to Senator Penny Wong; an organisational change consultant at Arthur Andersen; and, a market analyst for IT company Krone. Nathan has degrees in Business and International Relations. Nathan is also a Director of the Thermometer Foundation for Social Research on Climate Change, a founding member of the International Young Professionals Foundation, a Vincent Fairfax Fellow and a member of Finsia’s Sustainability Advisory Council.

John Stanhope, Chairman, Financial Reporting Council’s Integrated Reporting Taskforce; Former Chief Financial Officer, Telstra

John Stanhope’s career at Telstra Corporation spanned the period January 1967 to December 2011, a period of 45 years. He held a number of senior positions in the company during that time, his last position being that of Chief Financial Officer and Group Managing Director, Finance from October 2003 to December 2011. John was also appointed as an executive director of the Telstra Board in May 2009 and he held that position until his retirement in December 2011. John’s experience has covered many areas including finance, treasury, taxation, risk management and assurance, investor relations, corporate security and investigations, directorships on various boards of Telstra Corporation’s national and international subsidiary companies, and membership of industry and government committees. During his time at Telstra Corporation John also managed a number of pivotal events such as Telstra's involvement in the Federal Government's T3 sale of Telstra shares, and more recently, he took on the role of Telstra lead in negotiating the Definitive Agreements with the Federal Government and NBN Co to establish the National Broadband Network. John is currently a director of AGL Energy Limited and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Rebecca Gunn, Manager, Sustainability Reporting, BHP Billiton, Member GRI Stakeholder Council

Rebecca Gunn has 12 years’ experience with BHP Billiton and currently holds the position of Manager Sustainability Reporting. She graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Business Studies Marketing Major in 2001 and is a Williamson Fellow. Passionate about business improvement, change management and embedding sustainability Rebecca has delivered tangible improvements to the sustainability reporting process at BHP Billiton over the last three years in the areas of materiality, case study development and data verification. Rebecca has recently joined GRIs Stakeholder Council, is a member of the Investor working group and is part of GRI’s Focal Point Australia Advisory Group. She is also actively involved in the community and is Deputy Chair on the board of her local community centre.

Associate Professor Hwang Soo Chiat*, Singapore Management University

Hwang Soo Chiat is Associate Professor at the School of Accountancy, Singapore Management University. He has many years of working experience and had held senior appointments in business and finance, including Group Accountant and General Manager/Director in manufacturing, retail and logistics industries. He has extensive experience in consulting and executive teaching. His current research interests are in integrated reporting, as well as impact of culture on behaviour.

Terence Jeyaretnam, Director, Net Balance Management

Terence is the Executive Director of Net Balance in Melbourne and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering (UWA), is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia. Terence is an environmental and sustainability advisory and assurance specialist with over eighteen years’ experience in advising governments and corporations on sustainability issues. In 2005, Terence was named as one of the top 10 most influential young engineers in Australia by Engineers Australia. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern Queensland’s Australian Centre for Sustainable Business and Development. Terence is only one of five professionals globally to be awarded the grade of Lead Sustainability Assurance Practitioner by AccountAbility for signing off sustainability reports to the AA1000 Assurance Standard. He has signed off as an independent assurance provider on over 200 corporate sustainability and environmental reports over the past decade, including some of Australia’s largest companies. Terence is on the Board of Net Balance Foundation, Thermometer Foundation, ACCA Global Sustainability Forum, Engineers Media, Australian Legal Sector Alliance, 3Pillars Network and is also a member of the AccountAbility Interim Standards Board. Terence is regular columnist on sustainability for My Business magazine and is a member of the Editorial board of the US Journal Sustainability: Science, Practice and Policy. Terence is married to Lara and has two little girls Tilana (5) and Selena (4), and a new addition, Deshan, with whom he has his hands full, and for whom he hopes his work makes a difference.

Nick Ridehalgh, Partner, KPMG; Content Taskforce Member, IIRC

Nick Ridehalgh is a partner at KPMG, Sydney in the CFO Advisory team focused on supporting CFOs deal with financial strategy, decision support, process improvement and regulatory change Nick is project leader for the Business Reporting Leaders Forum (BRLF) in Australia. The BRLF is a group of major company directors (AICD), CFOs (G100), investors, analysts, regulators, academics and sustainability experts focusing on design and implementation of integrated reporting in Australia, working with the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC). Nick is also a member of the IIRC content working group which produced the Discussion Paper in Integrated Reporting launched on 12 September 2011. Nick has undertaken research for more than 10 years into effective corporate reporting and communications, and has advised many organisations on more effective, strategy-aligned and user-focused internal and external reporting. Nick is an FCA in Australia and the UK and a registered financial and greenhouse gas auditor in Australia. He has an Executive MBA from Monash Mt Eliza. He is on the ICAA’s Broad Based Reporting Panel, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Victoria Whitaker, Network Manager, Global Reporting Initiative Focal Point Australia

Victoria Whitaker is the manager for the Global Reporting Initiative’s Focal Point in Australia. GRI Focal Point Australia works to improve the uptake, usefulness and quality of sustainability reporting in Australia. Since completing a master of education for sustainable development, Victoria has gained 11 years of international experience in sustainability across academia, business, not-for-profits and government. In academia, Victoria lectured the Master of Sustainable Development at Macquarie University while also leading research at the Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability. After this she was a Programme Manager at the University of Cambridge’s Programme for Sustainability Leadership in which she led the Prince of Wales’s Business and Sustainability Program, the Business and Poverty Leadership Programme and Al Gore’s The Climate Project. Victoria work with government, business and not for profits has focused on integrating sustainability into organisational policy and strategies, facilitating organisational and behaviour change, as well as conducting research and implementing sustainability reporting.

Leontien Plugge, Deputy Director Regional Networks, Global Reporting Initiative

Leontien Plugge is Deputy Director – Network Relations at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Plugge joined GRI in 2004, working on several projects since, including linkages to the Millennium Development Goals and the UN Global Compact principles. She was part of GRI’s G3 Guidelines development team and managed the small and medium-sized enterprises and supply chain reporting program at GRI. Currently she is managing GRI’s regional outreach and regional offices in Australia, Brazil, China, India and the USA. Plugge has been active in the field of sustainable development since her work for UNEP in Paris in 2003 and 2004. She has trained many large corporations and SMEs in understanding, measuring, improving and communicating sustainability performance. Plugge was part of the United Nations Global Compact’s special Task Force for SMEs, and collaborated with the European Expert Group of the European Commission on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and SMEs. Plugge became a LEAD Fellow in 2009. She has spoken at many conferences and has written articles and publications on the topic of sustainability. Plugge has a master’s degree in European Law and International Environmental Law from the University of Utrecht.

Tim Williams, Head of Strategy, Group Sustainability, Westpac Group

Tim is a senior sustainability practitioner who has driven this agenda at the Westpac Group from its inception. He has driven best practice outcomes across a broad agenda, including corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, reputation risk, non-financial metrics and reporting and sustainable supply chain management. Most recently he has been the architect of a complete strategic review and refocus of the Group’s approach to sustainability.

Tim’s broader professional background is corporate and public affairs. He has post-graduate qualifications in public affairs and management consulting. He is a PhD candidate and researches and teaches in sustainability, strategy and organisational change.

Janette O'Neill, Head of Sustainability, National Australia Bank

Janette O'Neill is the Head of Corporate Responsibility Strategy for National Australia Bank. Her team manages CR strategy, business integration, stakeholder engagement, performance management, communications and reporting. Prior to joining NAB, Janette worked as a sustainability consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the UK where she assisted a variety of corporate and government clients. She also worked with the UK executive team to review PwC's own CR performance, develop their first CR Report and develop an internal CR strategy to support their business service priorities. Janette is currently on the Board of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership and the PwC CR Advisory Council. Before moving into the sustainability field, Janette was a strategy consultant for Accenture in both Australia and Ireland. She completed an honours degree in Economics at Monash University, Melbourne.

Siobhan Toohill, General Manager, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Stockland

Siobhan Toohill is General Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) for Stockland, one of Australia’s largest diversified property groups. Stockland develops, owns and manages commercial, residential and retirement living property across Australia. In 2005, Siobhan initiated the development and implementation of Stockland’s sustainability strategy addressing the organisation’s responsibilities in the marketplace; workplace; community; and environment. She established the organisations’ award-winning sustainability reporting program in 2006. Reflecting the organisation’s commitment and progress, Stockland was recognised as the world’s most sustainability property company in the 2011 World Dow Jones Sustainability Index and was rated 55th most sustainable company in the world as part of the Global 100 at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Stockland is also a member of FTSE4Good and the Carbon Disclosure Program’s Australian Climate Leadership Index. In 2009 Stockland was recognised by Ethical Investor as Australia’s Sustainable Company of the Year.

Julian Poulter, Executive Director, Global Asset Owners Disclosure Project; Business Director, The Climate Institute, Member, GRI Stakeholder Council

Julian Poulter is Executive Director of the Asset Owners Disclosure Project and Business Director of the Climate Institute of Australia. He is a member of GRI’s Stakeholder Council and Chair of the GRI Investment Working Group. He has had a long career in business and finance having held many senior executive, director and CEO roles. He has managed large projects and operations in many diverse industries including investment, finance, manufacturing, venture capital, energy, oil and gas, distribution, retail and information technology. Julian left the commercial sector in 2007 to help address short termism in the investment system towards better long term risk management practices that would drive climate change and other sustainability solutions.

Ann Byrne, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Council of Superannuation Investors

Ann Byrne joined ACSI in April 2008 and came from a background of superannuation/pension fund management at UniSuper and from The Superannuation Trust of Australia (now named AustralianSuper). Ann is an elected member of the UNPRI Advisory Committee, a Fellow of the AICD and a board member of Oxfam (Australia). In 2007, Ann was awarded the Fund Executive of the Year and was a member on the board of the ASFA. Ann is also and a member of the Monash University Department of Accounting and Finance Advisory Committee.

Bill Hartnett, Head of Sustainability, Local Government Super

Sydney-based Bill Hartnett has spent the majority of his 15+ year career in the area of developing and managing responsible investment products and in environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment risk analysis. Prior to his role as Head of Sustainability at Local Government Super he held roles in corporate banking and funds management with Westpac and Challenger and Head of Asia Pacific for ESG research firm with Innovest Strategic Value Advisor (subsequently bought by MSCI). He has a strong business track record in this field and has an extensive contact network across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Scandinavia and indeed globally.

Roger Simnett, Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean (Research), Australian School of Business, University of New South Wales; Working Group Member, IIRC

Roger Simnett is a Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean (Research), Australian School of Business, The University of New South Wales. His research covers international auditing/assurance issues, aimed at improving audit/assurance quality and making policy recommendations. Roger is heavily involved in standard-setting as a member of the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board for two terms and was the first elected academic on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2002-2005. He is currently Chairman of the Sustainability Expert Advisory Panel of the International Federation of Accountants, Co-chair of the task force producing an assurance standard on Carbon Emission disclosures for the IAASB and a member of the International Integrated Reporting Committee working group. Roger is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.

Linden is ERM's Global Sustainability Program Director, responsible for development and implementation of the program across 45 countries. Prior to that, Linden was a Partner in the Australia & New Zealand business, leading social and sustainability programs. Linden has 20 years experience in strategic planning, stakeholder analysis and engagement, regulatory and financial approvals, impact assessment, social research, and community needs analysis and planning, from local to international levels. Linden has provided strategic advice to

Dr Dimity Podger, Director and Principal, Barasa Consulting Group

In 2011, Dimity Podger founded Barasa Consulting Group, a consulting firm that works with companies and organisations in the areas of values and ethics, organisational learning and development, sustainability and stakeholder engagement. She advises and coaches organisations in the area of ethics and values-based organisational design, learning and development, using values as a lens for innovation in sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. She accompanies organisations in the design of bespoke indicators and assessment tools as a basis for developing values-based practices, including principle based decision-making. She also supports the implementation of ethics and sustainability initiatives with customized engagement and capacity building programs. She is an expert in designing and facilitating participatory approaches to individual and organisational learning and development. By using collaborative approaches, Dimity ensures that her work builds capacity, ownership and commitment to sustainability within organisations. Since 2009, Dimity has focused on projects that result in ethical leadership and values driven organisational change. Before starting Barasa Consulting Group, she was the senior research fellow for ESDinds, an EU-funded initiative led by the University of Brighton. She led the team that developed a framework for values-based indicators and assessment tools in collaboration with corporations, NGOs, universities, community groups, and student organisations focusing on trust, care, respect, and justice diagnostics. Dimity holds a doctorate in Education for Sustainability, a Masters of Environmental Studies, both from Macquarie University, and a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics from Sydney University.

Ernst Ligteringen, Chief Executive, Global Reporting Initiative

Ernst Ligteringen is Chief Executive of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organization with a mission to make sustainability reporting standard practice, driving its vision of a sustainable global economy. Ligteringen has been Chief Executive of GRI since 2002, when GRI was established as an independent organization with an international Secretariat in Amsterdam. Ligteringen is a member of GRI’s multi-stakeholder Board of Directors. Before joining GRI, Ligteringen worked for over 20 years at various non-governmental and international organizations. His positions included postings in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, as Executive Director of Oxfam International, Director of Programme Coordination of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Consultant to the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization at the ILO.

Dr. Simon Longstaff, Executive Director, St James Ethics Centre; Board Member, Global Reporting Initiative

One of the Executive Director's roles is to encourage the process of integrating ethical considerations into the strategic thinking of the management community and those who advise and regulate them. More generally, Dr Simon Longstaff encourages and contributes to the active discussion of ethical questions amongst the widest possible audience. Simon’s distinguished career includes being named as one of the AFR Boss True Leaders for the first decade of the 21st century. Simon has a PhD in Philosophy from Cambridge and his doctoral research centred on related questions arising in the areas of political philosophy, ethics and the philosophy of education. Prior to becoming the inaugural Executive Director of St James Ethics Centre in 1991, he worked in the Northern Territory in the Safety Department of BHP subsidiary, GEMCO, lectured at Cambridge University and consulted to the Cambridge Commonwealth and Overseas Trusts. His book, Hard Cases, Tough Choices was published in 1997 and numerous articles have been published over the years. Simon was inaugural President of The Australian Association for Professional & Applied Ethics and is a Fellow of the World Economic Forum. He is Chairman of Woolworths Limited Corporate Responsibility Panel, AMP Capital Socially Responsible Investment Advisory Committee, Defence Science and Technology Organisation Probity Board and the International Advisory Board of the Genographic Project. Simon serves on the Australian Institute of Company Directors Corporate Governance Committee, BHP Billiton Forum on Corporate Responsibility, CSIRO Niche Manufacturing Flagship Advisory Committee and Nestle Oceania Creating Shared Value Advisory Board.
