About Donnie Distinguished Fellow with the U.K. Schumacher Institute for Sustainable Systems and Affiliate Professor at Southern Oregon University, Donnie is best known as ‘that guy who ran across Australia as a teenager’, raising $35,000 as an Ambassador for The Fred Hollows Foundation. Day-to-day, Donnie is the ideas guy behind the Post Growth Institute - an international group inspiring and equipping people to explore paths to global prosperity that don’t rely on economic growth - and the Executive Director of Project Australia, an organisation that has provided pro bono support to over 160 Australian not-for- profit initiatives. Donnie’s PhD in social science led to two books (Nanotechnology and Global Equality; Nanotechnology and Global Sustainability) and over 20 translations of his work. His next books: How, on Earth? Flourishing in a Not- For-Profit World by 2050 and The Not-for-Profit Handbook: How to Start, Scale and Sustain Community Projects in an Ever-changing World are due in 2014. He is the co-developer of The Hawkesbury River Community Directory, The (En)Rich List, and the Post Growth Challenge and is the global organiser of Free Money Day, a social experiment that has occurred in over 250 locations across 30 countries. Donnie has delivered over 200 presentations and workshops in 12 countries.
