The European Life Long Learning Project SpeakApps (www.speakapps.eu), in which the University of Groningen is a participant, has delivered a number of interesting language learning tools focusing on practicing oral skills online. These tools are now being used in institutions across Europe. Through the SpeakApps Open Educational Resources teachers can contribute and share tasks for oral production and interaction. In the presentation I will present the SpeakApps platform and its tools. Furthermore we will discuss the use of the Open Educational Resources for designing online speaking tasks. Each year a number of Irish language teachers receive a one year scholarship to travel to the USA and Canada to teach Irish in various third level institutions. These teachers under take a number of training courses before they leave. One of these events is hosted by The National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM), who co-ordinate the teacher training programme. A two hour slot (subject to change) has been set aside for SpeakApps teacher training in which participants will be introduced to the SpeakApps project and tools. This workshop will

be followed up by online work where participants will register with Mahara and create tasks to upload in the OER. It is envisaged that Mahara will allow these teachers to set up a community and they will able to share tasks with each other through the OER over the course of their scholarship. Our workshop will also be attended by language teachers from NUIM, the number of which has yet to be finalised.
