Our meal at the Carlton Hotel in Truro turned out to be probably our most successful andenjoyable pre Christmas get together. The change to lunch time this year enabled more ofyou to attend and to share the event with our friends from the Recovery Club andPlymouth Lary Club. Our thanks to so many of you who made long journeys and to thosewho rearranged their working days to be with us. We were delighted to see Bob and MillieBrewer, founder members of Speak Easy, and to welcome back Colin and Brenda. Afteran excellent meal, Martin asked us to raise our glasses to Ron for all his work anddedication to the Club.

There are so many other thank you messages, but here are a few of them

Special thanks to Colin Saxton who, in a very entertaining speech, expressed the

appreciation that we all feel for Rons tremendous efforts and generosity over theyears for Speak Easy.

To everyone who donated splendid gifts for the raffle, particularly to Jack Paget forhis beautifully crafted wooden bowl with life-like fruits. Valerie reports that 402 hasbeen banked from raffle ticket sales, various donations on the day, and (Ronsbrilliant idea which had a bit of a story behind it!) the auction of a tin of Spam, whichraised a fantastic 20.

To David Frost for his very generous donation.

To Miles, from Platon, for his generosity in buying drinks and tickets.

To Janet for organising the day, also to Valerie, Pat and Rosemary for all their

efforts to make it a success. To Ron for the beautiful bouquets presented to committee members.

A message to others who were unable, for various reasons, to join us we were thinkingof you.

Other fund-raising results - 82 from the recent table-top sale run by Valerie and Pat.

For those of you who would like a trip down memory lane historic model trains, workingand hands on examples, a narrow gauge railway and exhibits from the tin mines - Colin

and Diana Saxton say they are always happy to welcome visitors to their free-of-chargeMoseley Museum near Redruth. You just need to ring them on 01209 211191 or 07511256677 to make an appointment.
