My Opinion My opinion of this book can be seen from many different perspectives. I believe this book gives readers bad examples of what high school is like. Its really not that bad. As long as you can survive middle school without ruining your life like Melinda does. But it does have truth to it as well and is definitely not the worst book I have ever read.

Foreshadowing: the trees

Symbolism: Trees, wombats ,Trojans.

Theme: To speak up and stand up for yourself.

Setting: Modern time, Syracuse, New York mostly in Merriweather High school

Plot: A girl gets raped and has to deal with it through out her freshman year of high school.

Main CharactersMelinda: Ruined an end of summer party by calling the cops. Nobody knows the reason that she called the cops was because she was raped.

Andy Evans: Is the one who raped Melinda and is going out with Melinda's ex-best friend Rachel .

Mr. Freeman: Is Melinda's eccentric art teacher. He gives the assignment of drawing a tree to her.

Chapter HeadingsThe chapter headings are a form of foreshadowing to what is going to happen in the chapter.
