Brief Description of Event & Summary of Actions

SPE Metu NCC student chapter participated IPETGAS conference which lasted

between 15.05.2013 and 17.05.2013 in JW Marriott Hotel, Ankara, Turkey. 35

student members from our department of different nationalities, (i.e Turkey,

Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Angola and Cameroon) in company of 3

faculty members travelled together to Ankara from Northern Cyprus to attend

the Congress. We had also arranged the accommodation for these students at

Middle East Technical University dormitory.

We would like to thank Prof. Salih Saner(Head of Department) and Prof. Serhat

Akin (Ex President SPE Turkey Section) for making the arrangements for our

invitation and accommodation.

This Conference had many topics which included different sections of

petroleum and natural gas engineering. Our members participated in all the

sessions actively and we learnt many different and beneficial subjects about

petroleum industry. The students also got the chance to network with the

people from the industry.

On the first day of the congress we had meeting with Officers of Turkey SPE

Section where we discussed the arrangements of some technical and social

activities with their collaboration.

During the congress, 4 student members from our campus presented their

research work at the IPETGAS, being the only undergraduate students

presenting at the Congress.

Last but not least, two board members Furkan Geze and Ines Mechkane also

got the chance to attend the Akcakoca production field trip together with the

SPE METU Ankara student.
