Selective Ranking Score Sheet• A pdf copy of the selective ranking score sheet is available for

download on the nursing web site

• The Selective Ranking Score Sheet MUST be included in the Admission packet.

• Points are NOT awarded for courses out of date.

• Points are now awarded of courses in progress. However, should the student be unsuccessful in attaining the required “C” in these course(s), the student will be expected to repeat the course(s).

• If a student is accepted into the Nursing Program based on points for courses in progress, and the student fails to complete the course with a “C” or better, the student will lose his/her seat in the Nursing Program for the subsequent semester.

• The 2 attempts at each Biology course is still in effect. This means, if the student is admitted into the program based on a biology course “in progress” and is unsuccessful in attaining the required grade of “C” on 2 attempts (withdrawals count as an attempt), the student will be withdrawn from the nursing program.

Selective Ranking Score Sheet

• If a student is accepted into the Nursing Program based on points for courses in progress, and the student fails to complete the course with a “C” or better, the student will lose his/her seat in the Nursing Program for the subsequent semester.• Example – the student applies for admission into the Spring 2016 using

courses in progress (taking ENG 102 and BIO 225 on Fall 2015) on the Selective Ranking Score Sheet. The student fails to obtain a final grade of “C” in all course(s) at the end of the semester. The student will lose the seat offered to him/her for the Spring 2016 semester.

What Can I Do Ahead Of Time?

• Many students want to know what can be completed prior to notification of acceptance into the program.

• Spreading some of the following out, will help with finances.• CPR certification and Immunizations

• It is also a good idea to have these current and have copies readily available.

CPR – EVERYONE should be Certified!!!

• All Health Sciences programs require CPR through American Heart Association and MUST be Health Care Provider – Adult and Child CPR

• The College now has an AHA training center through CCE. If you are in need of a class, please go to the following link: https://www.sccsc.edu/AHA/

• Click on View Current Class. You can register online or you can call 864-592-4900

• CPR certification is good for 2 years

Immunizations

• All Health Sciences Programs at SCC require the same immunizations.

• Many immunizations were obtained as a child, and it just requires that you obtain your immunization records.

• It is a good time to start now, gathering this information.

• If you have not received one of the required immunizations, you may want to get a head start as there are multiple shots and several weeks between them.

Immunizations (cont)

• MMR (Measles, Mumps & Ruebella)• Should have received as a child in 2 separate doses

• If you cannot find your immunizations, have a TITER drawn first (it’s cheaper). If you are immune to all 3, then you will not require a booster.

• If the TITER results show that you are not immune to 1 or more, than you will require the booster.

• Some International students only received immunization for Measles and Mumps and NOT Ruebella. This means, these students will REQUIRE the MMR immunization.

Immunizations (cont)

• Varicella Vaccine – against Chicken Pox• This was administered in 2 doses 4 weeks apart starting in 1995.

• If you never received the vaccine, have a TITER drawn first. If you are immune, you are fine.

• If you are NOT immune, you will be required to receive the entire vaccine – 2 doses 4 weeks apart.

• DO NOT wait until the last minute to have this immunization administered

Immunizations (cont)

• Tetanus (Td) Booster – booster is required every 10 years

• Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) – this is a 1 time immunization as an adult followed by an every 10 year Td booster. It is HIGHLY recommended that health care students receive this immunization.

• If Td is within date, you are NOT required to receive the Tdap.

Immunizations (cont)

• PPD – Tuberculin Skin Test• If you are currently working in a health care environment, then all that is

required is your yearly, 1-step PPD result

• If you have NEVER had a PPD, you will be required to complete a 2-step PPD

• A subsequent yearly PPD will be required for the department.

• Please note that International students often have a positive skin test, and are required to have a chest x-ray and/or written documentation from their healthcare provider that there is NO active disease. This will also be required to be updated on a yearly basis.

Where can I have these Immunizations administered

• There are a number of places within Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties where you can go to have the immunizations and/or titer taken care of. Below are a few places where you can go to have these taken care of. In addition, you may go to your Primary Health Care Provider.
