This truly has been a year of change for Sparta. In August, the purchase of the camp was completed and the high ropes course installed within the first two weeks. Major improvements to the camps facilities have been taking place since August 18th. It is with great excitement and anticipation that Sparta announces a swimming pool as one of our new offerings starting the summer of 2012. The lake is still central to the camps lake front activities such as boating, tubing, skiing, and of course, the blob, but the pool will expand our program to include lighted night swims and daily activities. new pool. Campers coming from greater distances can fly into Tampa or Orlando airports. Please call the camp for transportation options when making arrangements for your child to arrive via an airport. Sparta Staff:

All staff members are highly trained and certified in first-aid and CPR .

Safety: A registered nurse is on staff and our health center is located in the center of both camps.Sparta is now home to the brand new Hurricane. The Hurricane is a challenge by choice team high ropes course. As everyone knows, hurricanes have great impact, and this is definitely the case when guests participate in the high ropes course known by the same name. Whether you are enjoying from the ground or forty feet up in the tree course, you cannot participate without being dramatically affected by Spartas very own Hurricane. Guests can enjoy being challenged to stand on top of a thirty-five foot telephone pole (X-Scream) or enjoy a nice cool breeze as they fly by on the new football field length zip-line that takes you over the water. These are just a few of the high ropes elements you can experience while at Sparta.

Also new to Sparta is an exciting and engaging team challenge low ropes course that will have your group working together, understanding the meaning of communication, and effectively producing results.

Sparta's new Executive Director is no stranger to holding the position and responsibility of a growing, effective camp ministry all for the glory of God. Matthew Pearson and his family come to Sparta with many years of camping experience, having nearly fifty years combined camping experience between Matthew and his wife, Wendy. Previous to coming to Sparta, Matthew served as Executive Director at a camp in Ohio where he was able to see the camp grow to a regional camp and conference center impacting campers from over thirty different states. Over the course of many years, Matt has developed a long standing relationship with Sparta visiting the camp and praying for its continued success on several trips to Florida. Little did he know at the time, but God was masterfully planning to have him return to run the camp years later! Matthew and his family are excited about helping build Camp Sparta into one of the best camps in the United States! Since Matthew came to know Christ as a direct result of a camp ministry, his heartbeat is to make sure others can have a similar experience in coming to know Jesus Christ as Savior.

David Chadwick joins the Sparta staff serving as Site Director. David is a Wisconsin native and has a love for the outdoors. He has a background both in construction and as a District Manager for a large development company in the Orlando area. He provides the camp with excellent maintenance skills and extensive experience in his field. David enjoyed camping as a child and understands what an impact it can have on a childs life. He, along with his wife, Kristin, and their three boys, felt the Lord leading their family to relocate to Sparta where they live on site, in order to offer immediate assistance for the camp. David is without a doubt one of the most humble and gifted servants you will ever work alongside. His ability to encourage everyone he meets is a huge asset to our team. David and his family are excited to be a part of Sparta and are excited to see what the Lord has planned.

The Chadwick FamilyMatthew W. Pearson Executive Director Colossians 3:17 The Richardsons are veterans when it comes to Christian camping. Tim was raised at a Christian camp where his father served as the Executive Director. Erica and her siblings were impacted by camp every summer. These early years of Christian camp influence have given both Tim and Erica a real passion to see the lives of children and their families changed by the effective ministry of a camp and conference center. For the past ten years Tim has served as the Executive Director of a large camp on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie. Tim and Erica have three children, Solomon, Priscilla, and Josiah.

Differentspeakers, activities, and crafts available each week make extended sessions a favorite of both parents and children. Monday-Friday Ages 5-12

Running Monday through Friday from June 13th to August 19th, our unique, distinctively Christian, and extended Day Camp allows each camper the opportunity to enjoy three healthy meals (at no extra cost) each day at Sparta. With no fear of travel to offsite activities, Sparta has it all here on one fun campus. Know where your child is at all times. While space is limited to seventy day campers in our day camp, fun and unique adventures are not limited. Imagination, creativeness, and safe, healthy relationships are all on the schedule. Sparta Day Camp equals a fun day every day! Check in time is 7:30 in the morning and check out time is between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Summer Session Calendar is on the back of this brochure.

Friday-Sunday Grades 9-12

Time away at summer camp is critical in the spiritual and relational growth of every teenager. Thats whySparta offers a unique answer to this time crunch challenge. Quest camp runs Friday Sunday, from June through August. It is the goal of Quest camp to help each camper learn to answer the questions of life with Biblical authority. Small group Bible studies, exciting times on the lake, and late night talks with counselors and friends make this relaxed three day camp for high school students

Away from the confines of daily responsibilities and familiar situations, groups will participate in carefully orchestrated sets of physical and mental activities and challenges that focus on leadership, decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution while building trust, teamwork, communication, motivation, and cooperation. All of these goals can be achieved on our low ropes courses. These same goals can also be achieved at a location of your choice with our portable course. For those seeking the ultimate in challenges, our Hurricane high ropes course focuses on the individual's emotional and physical insecurities, helping them to foster perseverance and risk taking, while encouraging them to set and complete personal goals. The group acts as emotional support for the individual climbing these elements. At the end of each activity, a member of our professionally trained staff will lead the group in a debrief discussion where the events are then related to real-life situations. These open conversations provide a welcoming and positive forum for participants to analyze the events and relate the relevant aspects of what they've learned with situations they face in their everyday lives.

The city gate is where all the business and influential people of the community would go to congregate. Paul saw this as a real opportunity to influence a people for Christ and in turn allow them to influence the community and ultimately the communitys children. We all know it takes a community to raise a child. Sparta exists to first and for most, share Christ with this generation and then encourage believers to boldly proclaim His good news. Tim Richardson, a successful entrepreneur and sought after marketing person has a passion to head up the City Gates ministry for Sparta by forming both individual and small group conversations in market place settings that will share Christ and encourage believers to share Him as well.
