Using your tools, write as many words about greeting as you can for 3 minutes!

• Hola• The “h” is silent, so it sounds like

• Use this with your friends and family.

form (familiar).• Use this with your

using Standard American English versus Standard Spanish.• Never translate word-for-word.
Where are you from?• ¿De dónde eres?• ¿De dónde es Ud.?• ¿Dónde? = Where?–De = From• In Spanish, do not ask: “¿Dónde eres de?” The “de” goes at the beginning of the question.
Farewells•Adiós• Good-bye!• This is used when
people will not see the other person for a very long time.
•Hasta luego• See you later– “Until then”
• You will see them again.
