• Opportunity for students to observe and partake in daily life in Spain

•To practice using Spanish in a real life setting

• All students are placed in the same general area (in various suburbs of the same large city)

• Spring travelers likely have an opportunity to attend school with host brother or sister

• Most students will have a host brother or sister that is within 3 years of their own age

• Many families live in apartments, as this is very common in Spain

• Host families are completely volunteer

• Mid-day meals are the largest meals of the day, and are usually eaten around 2pm

• Dinner, which is smaller, is eaten around 10pm!

• It’s safe to drink the tap water in your host family’s home

• ISE Family Stay Coordinators: teachers, community leaders, or individuals connected to churches & other community organizations

• Host families chosen by ISE Family Stay Coordinators

• Families complete application & provide references and are screened by the local coordinator

• Many families repeat the experience of hosting several times

• Student Application in English

• Code of Conduct signed by participant & parent/guardian

• Family Stay Application in Spanish

• $500 deposit check or money order

• Save $200 with Early Bird sign-up by June 15th

• Send “Dear Host Family” letter & photos by fall enrollment deadline

• Don’t forget to apply for your passport!
