• TheSpaceUtilizationStudybeganwithsitemeetingsateachfacilitytodiscussandevaluatehowthebuildingswerebeingused.FGMmetwitheachofschoolprincipalanddistrictadministratorstodeterminebuilding-specificneeds.

Task2:ProgramDevelopment–SpaceNeedsAnalysis
• Multiplemeetingswereheldwithdistrictandbuildingadministratorstoidentifycurrentspaceneedsandadjacencydeficienciesforallfacilities.Thespecificneedsforeachfacilitywereanalyzed.Wehadwide-rangingdiscussionswhichincluded,butwerenotlimitedto,safetyissues,chokepoints,parking,circulation,spaceneeds,pick-up/dropoffissues,storage,programadjacencies,educationalprogramneeds,addingfull-daykindergarten,specialeducationneeds,corespaceneeds(gym,cafeteria,etc.),scienceareadiscussions,districtofficeneeds,etc.
• Theneedsweresummarized,evaluatedandprioritizedintothreecategories:Priority1(safetyitems,securityitems,importantitemstosupporteducationaldeliveryorspacesneededtosupportfulldaykindergarten),Priority2(itemsrequestedbybuildingstaffbutarenotatoppriority)andPriority3(itemsthatwouldenhancethefacilityoreducationalprogram).FGMalsoworkedwiththedistrictadministratorstodevelopasetofguidingprinciples.Theprincipleswereusedtoevaluatethevariousbuildingsolutions.
