Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

To deliver our commitment as a responsible business, we consider our Economic, Social and Environmental

impacts.

Our Team

The development of our employees is essential to the success of our business.

We respect and encourage openness and honesty in a supportive and challenging

environment, which generates empowerment, providing an opportunity for everyone

to participate in the success of our business.

Equal opportunities are available for all employees to develop their skills and knowledge within the business.

A Manager has consistent management skills, knowledge and behaviour attributes. The philosophy being, an

‘open door’ approach, this encourages employees to discuss any initiatives or personal needs. We also

implement an annual formal performance review system, where employees and their managers discuss key

individual performance and development objectives.

We aim to attract the best people to enable them to fulfil their potential and enjoy careers with competitive

remuneration and rewards.

Learning and Development

Smart Parking is dedicated to providing quality standards of service to our Clients. An important part of our

commitment to quality is that we believe in investing in the people who work for us in an equal and open way.

We provide or arrange all training that is necessary for our employees to perform their duties competently and

safely. A highly skilled workforce is the path to higher productivity, competitiveness and profitability.

Upon commencement of an employee’s employment at Smart Parking, they undertake an induction to

We will seek to attain business leads locally to enable us to maintain our collaboration with local suppliers

maximising on the regional social and economic benefits.

Our industry

We are members of the British Parking Association’s (BPA) Approved Operator Scheme and we are regularly

audited by the BPA and DVLA against their approved codes of practice.

We promote working in association with local businesses, where we have formed long term partnerships

bringing best value and innovation for our mutual Clients and employees.

Carbon Footprint

In order to manage our carbon footprint, we have carried out an independent audit as part of the ISO 14001

accreditation to ascertain our current footprint and provide recommendation on how to reduce our Primary

(Direct) and Secondary (In-Direct) footprint emissions.

We have introduced a ‘travel – best practice’ policy which has encouraged management and employees to

utilise car sharing and public transport for business travel. We also encourage the use of telephone / video

conferencing to eliminate unnecessary long distance travel for business meetings.

…Future aims

To assist with developing our ISO 14001 accreditation, we have formulated a working group to focus on the

following areas to reduce our carbon footprint:-

Energy Use/Water Use/Waste Production/Business Travel

Waste Management

In addition to fulfilling our duty of care which is required under the Environmental Protection (Duty of Care)

Regulations 1991, we have formulated an agreement with our waste management company to segregate our

site waste. This is in accordance with our company waste management target of 90% of site waste being

reused and recycled.

Recycling of our paper is an initiative we have been supporting for many years. including sensitive information

by on site recycling shredding service.

…Future aims

Create and promote a greater site awareness for the ‘4 Rs’ Retaining, Reclaiming, Reusing & Recycling all

products and materials. This will bring savings on new products and materials, reduction in transportation costs

and waste disposal costs.

Waste champions will be developed within the business to further promote and cascade the requirements and

benefits to individuals and the environment. This will encourage our employees to take responsibility and

contribute to delivering our sustainable business objectives.

In 2013 gain ISO14001, through the Integrated Quality Management System.
