    Toronto is Canada's largest

    community food security

    organization. It works to empower

    individuals, families and communities

    through food-based initiatives at the

    neighbourhood level, while advocating

for the broader public policies needed

to ensure that everyone has adequateaccess to sustainably produced, good

healthy food. Working "from field to

table," they focus on the entire system

that puts food on our tables: from the

    growing, processing and distribution of

food to its purchasing, cooking and

    consumption. Go to http://

    www.foodshare.net to learn more.

    Through presentations and small group

    discussions we will spark our

    imagination about what could be

possible in Edmonton in terms of

    strengthening the local food system

and people's access to healthy food. We

will also learn some of FoodShares story

    in supporting and developing

community based initiatives leading tobetter access to healthy food and begin

to network with others interested in

moving forward. We will explore and

experience some of the toolsandstrategies used and lessons learned by

    FoodShare in their work around

    community driven and asset based

    action initiatives.
