SOUTHERN BOULEVARD (SR 80) WIDENING PROJECT February 2020 Project Details: This project consists of widening Southern Boulevard (SR 80) in western Palm Beach County from four to six lanes and adding pedestrian and bicycle enhancements. The 7.2-mile project in the Village of Royal Palm Beach, Village of Wellington, Town of Loxahatchee Groves and unincorporated Palm Beach County will provide three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 5- to 6-foot paved shoulders in rural areas, 7-foot buffered bike lanes in urban areas and a 12- foot shared-use pathway on the north side from west of Lion Country Safari Road to Forest Hill Boulevard/Crestwood Boulevard. Other improvements include milling and resurfacing, drainage upgrades, lighting, traffic signals, curb and gutter installation, guardrail and signage, and pavement markings. Median access will change at Palms West Plaza, west of D Road, to provide safer traffic movements. Project Activities: -- Project progress: 50% of time elapsed -- Installation of drainage throughout corridor (95% complete).
