Staff Give and Gain

As part of the Trust In Community initiative on 11June staff participated in Give and Gain day. There were a range of opportunities to volunteer and provide practical support for the Southern Area Hospice in Newry, Lisanally Special School in Armagh and Praxis Care in Lurgan. Staff were involved in different tasks from gardening, painting and mending garden furniture.

Patricia Sherlock from the Trust’s Sensory Disability Team said; “The Give and Gain day was brilliant. We worked really hard but the Hospice looked after us well and appreciated our efforts. I think far more people should participate in the volunteering days offered by the Trust, especially when they are employer supported and staff don’t need to use valuable annual leave to take part”.

Nicola Murphy who works in the Trust’s Finance Department agrees: “It was my fi rst experience of volunteering and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff and clients at Praxis were all very friendly and welcoming.”

Praxis Care staff appreciated the support: “All volunteers were very enthusiastic. They were a great team who worked extremely well with both staff and service users.”

The Give and Gain Day was run in partnership with Business in the Community.
