Mise-en-sceneLocationThis scene is set in an abandoned hospital, in the middle of an abandoned town. Within the hospital, Lucas carry's Sandie, to the main desk while shouting for help, that is when he relies that the hospital is abandoned.Having the hospital abandoned make Lucas feel trapped, isolated and afraid, he is left to deal with a dying Sandie.

One of the main props used is Lucas’s Phone and earphones. This is how the other people are contacting him and telling him how to save Sandie.Using a phone in this scene really emphasizes how isolated Lucas is. The only means of contact to the outside world is by phone, there is no one there.

Lucas is wearing business formal clothes e.g. shirt and trousers.The idea of Lucas wearing a formal dress in the middle of nowhere shows the audience that he is not form there he is not familiar with his surroundings. A shirt and trousers are normally affiliated with the office or a business man.

As Lucas is bringing Sandie into the hospital his movements are quick unplanned and frantic, as he is trying to find someone in the hospital that can help him. Sandie however she is just fighting for her life in Lucas’s arms. She is moaning in pain and she has no control over her body as seen by her arm hanging down from Lucas.

Near the end of this scene, Lucas’s movements become slower calmer and cautious because he has realised that Sandie has died and that he is alone in the hospital. He is not worrying about Sandie anymore only him and how to get out of the hospital. Near the end of the scene he becomes more dependant on the voices on the phone to get him out of the hospital.

DIEGETIC•AT THE START OF THIS SCENE WE HEAR THE WOMEN ON THE PHONE CALL OUT ON A RADIO TO THE HOSPITSAL, THE WOMAN IS TRYING TO HELP LUCAS EVEN THOUGH SHE KNOWS THE HOSPITAL IS ABANDONED.•WE ALSO HEAR LUCAS SCREAMING “HELP, HELP, HELLO, I HAVE AN EMERGENCY”. THIS JUST EMPASISES HOW DISTRESSED LUCAS IS AND HOW FUSTRATED THAT HE CANT GET ANY HELP. •AS LUCAS IS GOING THROUGH THE ABANDONED HOSPITAL WE CAN HEAR A TV WITH VOICES. THIS JUST GIVES LUCAS SUDDEN HOPE THAT THERE IS SOMEONE HERE TO HELP HIM BUT AS HE SEES THE TV HE GETS MORE ANGRY, JUST BECAUSE THAT FALSE HOPE.•AS LUCAS RELISES THAT SANDIE IS STILL IN HIS ARMS WE HEAR HER BLOOD DRIPPING AND HER LEG SNAPPING AS IT NEARLY FALLS OFF. THIS JUST ADDS ONE MORE PROBLEM TO LUCAS’S LIST.

NON-DIEGETIC•AS LUCAS ENTERS THE BUILDING A LOW WIND EFFECT SHADOWS HIM AS HE PUSHES THROUGHT THE DOOR, IT COULD EMPASISE THAT HE IS STEPPING INTO ANOTHER PLACE, ANOTHER WORLD.•AS LUCAS PUSHES THROUGH ANOTHER DOOR TO THE HALLWAY AS RELISES THAT IT IS ABANDONED THERE IS A MID RANGE STRING EFFECTS SLIDING.•AS WE SEE SANDIES LEG BEGINING TO BREAK A SINISTER LOW BASS SOUND IS PLAYING BUT AS THE LEG SNAPS THE MUSIC SUDENLY STOPS.•WHEN LUCAS IS TOLD TO MAKE AN INSITION INTO SANDIE TO HELP HER A HIGH PIANIO SOUND IS PLAYED TO GIVE AN UPSETTING TONE.

THE EDITING IS GENERALLY SLOW THROUGHOUT HOWEVER THERE ARE PARTS WHERE THE PACE QUICKENS AS LUCAS IS GETTING MORE FUSTRATED.WHEN LUCAS IS LOOING FOR THE TUBE TO STICK DOWN SANDIE’S THROAT, THE PACE QUICKENS AS HE CANT FIND IT.THE EDITING SLOWS DOWN AS LUCAS RELISES THAT THERE IS A DOCTER ON THE PHONE TELLING HIM TO COMPRESS THE LUNG.THE PACE OF THE EDITING REALLY SLOWS DOWN AS LUCAS RELISES THAT SANDIE IS DEAD AND HE IS NOT TRAPPED.
