Size of the IT/ITES sector

– There are no updated statistics about the sector, example of some estimations includesabout 20 companies providing Internet servicesbased on available reports those companies has

about 24,000 customers– There are more companies providing related services on

the IT/ITES sector– Evidences shows that the market and opportunities on

the IT/ITES services are growing– In parallel there is a continuous grows in the number of

students in the area of engineering and ICT as result of increasing number of Education Institutions

IT training in Mozambique• There are several private IT training institutions in

Mozambique providing short term professional courses. Following courses are provided Basic use of ICT (office programs, CISCO (ISCTEM, UEM/CIUEM, MICTI, ..) Oracle (MICTI MICROSOFT (Matrix, CIUEM, EXI, …) SAP (petromoc, ..) Other courses (web design, basic skills in programming)

• MICTI is providing medium level professional training in ICT. Similar course is provided by CPD (centre for data processing) (60 students currently enrolled; 25 graduated in 2007&2008)

• Beluluane Institute will be transformed in ICT training school in the scope of PIREP (Technical Vocational Education Reform)

Partnership with India

• Jaguar overseas private Indian company is working with Ministry of Science and Technology of Mozambique and MICTI to establish the first building for Centre of Development and Innovation Technology which is going to house: Science and technology Park office, Research and learning, Business and technology incubator components and Technology based companies
