Dedication May 8th

FROM THE PASTOR

Dear South River Church Family,

Your ministry over the past week throughout Statesville and Iredell County was a joy to wit-ness as your pastor. We are never more like Christ than when we gird our minds in humility and embrace the privilege to serve others. I was able to observe some of our members reach-ing beyond their comfort zones to engage a lost and dying world. Sunday School classes teamed together to assist those in need. Your radical acts of kindness at laundry mats, ball games, businesses, and schools have left an imprint on our city and county. That is what hap-pens when God’s people step outside the walls of the church to serve. The River has swollen over its banks and flooded the region with God’s goodness and grace!

On Mother’s day we will have a parent/child dedication where our small children will be pre-sented to the church and our Lord. Parents will commit to raising their children in the fear of the Lord and according to His Word.

Later in May we will celebrate with our children who have participated in Awana and hidden God’s Word in their hearts. Plan now to come and support their hard work! A special thank you to Terry and Gail Fox and all the leaders and workers who minister to and invest in our children and students.

Speaking of children, I ask each one this probing question – What are you doing to ensure the faith is passed on to the next generation? There are needs in the children and preschool areas to care for our little ones during the worship services. Please sign up to enable their parents to enjoy the worship and study of God’s Word.

As the weather begins to warm up I am very excited to see the children’s program warming up to. We had a swell of a time with the bike rodeo along with all the other serve Statesville events. Now it’s time to gear up for this year’s VBS. Only a month away (June 12th-16th) we will be resting deep with one of my favorite themes. This year’s VBS is called Ocean Commotion, which will cover the life of Noah. This exciting Zoocruise I believe will get everyone pumped to see God’s provision in their lives. The one thing I ask is for your faithfulness in making this event amazing. I look forward to seeing what God will do in the next month!
