Aims of the Academies

•Provide the opportunity to study in college and university while still at school

•Smooth the transition between school, college, university and the workplace

•Encourage participation of under represented groups in HE

•Support advanced entry into year 2 in Higher Education

•Raise awareness of the industries which are growth areas in Scotland by providing work experience and work placement

•School delivers 1.5 units – flexible

•College delivers 3.5 units – Friday afternoon August – June

•Some schools have opted to deliver one of the HNC units on science presentation skills
