Soil Moisture anomalies are around 1.5 – 5.0 inches (40 - 120 mm) above normal for all areas east of the Missouri River in SD, with near normal soil moistures in the western half of the state. The wettest areas are in the upper Big Sioux River

basin, the glacial lakes region of northeastern SD, and all of west central and southwestern Minnesota

Water Equivalent of the snowpack, as of 3/2/2011. The upper James and Big Sioux basins average 3 to 5 inches of water. Higher amounts of 6 +

inches are found in parts of southwestern MN and in northeastern SD. In the Black Hills, water equivalents of 6-12 inches are being modeled.
