Room 2 Assembly
Thank you to Mrs Goodman & Ms Regali‘s year 6 class for hosting the second whole
school assembly for the year last Friday 3rd March. The class acquitted themselves
professionally on and off stage as they demonstrated their talent with some humour. This
was a particularly fine effort, considering they had been away on the annual Mornington
Mills camp on Monday & Tuesday of that week. Congratulations!
Mornington Mills Camp (Year 6)
A big thank you to all the staff who made this outstanding educational opportunity
available to our year 6 students. They were able to learn much about themselves in being
deliberately placed far out of their ‖comfort zone‖ through a roster of 4 varied activities
over 2 days. The boys & girls learnt how be effective in making a thoughtful contribution
to reach a common group goal and gained some valuable insights into leadership and
team building. The efforts of Mrs Goodman & Mrs Duncan in planning and organising the
whole camp are greatly appreciated as is the much valued contributions from Mr
Greaves, Mr Ruane, Mrs Regali & Mrs Kinkella in providing the necessary extra
supervision for such a wonderful opportunity to be offered to our 2017 year 6 cohort.

Parking on Prosser St
Parents please note that the City of Bunbury Rangers regularly survey the parking situation on Prosser St at the end of
the school day. The option of collecting your children from this street at the Northern side of the school is associated
with some risk. I would highly recommend the much safer option of using the pickup / drop off facility at the back or
southern side of the campus or alternatively at the Western carpark along Queen St.
Bike Racks.
A big thank you to Rob Koenders & Matt Cooper. These two industrious Dad‘s put their skills to good use on Saturday
25th Feb in converting a disused bike rack to increase the capacity of racks to cater for the increasing number of stu-
dents who are able to ride to school. Your efforts gentleman, are greatly appreciated by our students & the school
community.
Bike Security
Unfortunately we have had 2 bicycles stolen from our bike racks recently. Parents please ensure that your child has a
bike lock to secure their bicycle to one of the bike racks.
Canine’s on Campus
Sharing the walk to school with your family dog may be a positive experience to share with your child. We would
appreciate that you do not bring your dog into school. Please leave your pet tied up at the school fence and not walk it
through the school grounds. Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated
Swimming Carnival 2017
Our apologies for any inconvenience for late change in date. This was due to
maintenance issues at the South West Sports Centre and was beyond the control of
the school. New travel notes were issued to all competitors last Friday March 3rd for
the revised scheduled date of Monday March 13th. The carnival is timed to start at
approx. 12.30 pm and proceedings should conclude by 2.30pm. As always the staff
and students welcome your support at all school events. Any further information may be provided by calling the office
or Mrs Hutton on 97213299.
Faction swimming carnival, Monday 13th March, SWSC commencing at 12.30pm
Interschool swimming carnival, Thursday 16th March, SWSC. The interschool swimming team will be selected following the faction carnival on Monday. Notes to interschool swimming team members will be distributed by Tuesday, maybe Monday if possible. It will be a short turn around to have permission slips and money back by
Wednesday in readiness for the carnival on Thursday.

Physical Education
* Willing to learn and being the best I can be * Showing respect and concern for others
Students in Room 5 (Mr Raven) and Room 4 (Mrs Maskew) had two very special visitors this week. Two visual Artists,
Hayley Welsh and Tim Howe ran drawing workshops in both classes. The two artists are involved in the ―Outside the
Box‖ community art project currently underway in the Bunbury CBD. This involves transforming a series of 20
electrical boxes in and around the CBD into whimsical characters by the professional artists. Tim and Hayley are using
the ideas generated by our students during the workshops to design the characters to be painted on the boxes.
In addition the students work will be exhibited at the Stirling Street Arts Centre Saturday March 11 th, 3-4.30pm.
All South Bunbury Primary School students and families are invited to attend this exhibition.

SBPS Core Values
Virtues Program
Meaning
Courtesy is being polite and having good manners. It is a gracious way of speaking and acting which gives others a feeling of being valued and respected. It is greeting others with respect. ―Please‖, ―Thank you‖, ―Excuse me‖, ―Hello‖, ―Goodbye‖, ―You‘re welcome‖ are not just words. They are courteous expressions that
show people you respect them and care about them.
Signs Of Success
You are practising courtesy when you
Show others that you value and respect them
Remember to treat elders, parents, teachers and
children politely
Think about how your actins affect others
Eat, speak and move graciously
Make requests instead of demands
Greet people with a smile

Camp Mornington Archery
The distance of my target is really far, I can hear my friends cheering from joy. I put the arrow on the bow and pulled the string as
hard as I can and let go. I made my arrow fly when I let go. I can hear the arrow whistle while it flew. It‘s a bullseye! ―Yeah.‖
cheered my team mates, as they cheered from joy. My previous scores are 8 and10. With 11 it makes it 29. My team are happy
our score was 114. ―The winners are‖ the archery teacher said ―Bullseye‖ ‗Bullseye‘ is my team name. Ten minutes later my ar-
chery teacher began to beat my record but he failed. He has 28 and I have 29.
Bradken
I pick up the bow. I was feeling excitement. I aimed the bow and pulled back on the string.
Then I shot the target I was very proud of myself. I pick up another arrow. The sun still
killing me. I took aim and I shot the bow.

Crate climb! We were holding the ropes so tight it felt as if our hands were about to fall off. Our fingers are burning under the weight of our
climber. As I reached the top with victory I felt like the queen of the world. I was waiting and watching in anticipation hoping that
my turn was soon to come. I loved and enjoyed every single bit even when I got bitten by a horse. The meals that we had were
sensational. The reason why crate climbing was my favourite is because I love climbing and our instructor Sam was great.
Chloe
Archery We walked down from the camp the sun at its hottest. The sun felt like hot lava falling down. When I walked up to shoot I saw the
other kids ready to shoot I took aim looking down the arrow ready to fire. I heard kids talking and the instructor telling us when to
fire. I was silent and I could hear my own deafening heartbeat. I then pulled back my arrow. The pressure was building up every
second. I held it my hands were sweating from the sweltering heat of the day. When the instructor said we could fire I let got, the
pressure instantly released. When I was aiming my body was overwhelmed with excitement. My excitement built up as I held it
there. When I let go I couldn‘t wait to shoot again
Cohen
It was almost my turn, no one made it to the top, I was scared. I was even sweating. My harness was on tight like a snake coiling
around me. The crates were all crashing around me. One fell on me, luckily I had a helmet. Now it was my turn. I had to go be-
cause I had the line already on. It was getting high and the crates were wobbling like jelly then one fell but I just saved a bit of the
crate and kept going. I tried not to look down but I couldn‘t stop myself. Suddenly everyone was yelling because I made it! I got to
the very top! I was so proud of myself and my team. Without my team I wouldn‘t have conquered my biggest fear.

Crate Climbing I hear the crates falling next to me again and shiver in fear of falling off the crates I stand on. The booming is deafening but I have
so far to go and touch the roof to help my team win. There goes the bean bag up, up and down. Come on try again we need
these points, wow don‘t fall, don‘t fall, yes I didn‘t fall. I grab the rope for dear life and throw the bean bag to the far hoop, but I
miss. My stomach‘s churning as my team knock over the crates on which I stand and then I‘m flying but I‘m falling at the same
time as I fall to the ground slowly. Finally I touch the ground. Relief floods over me as I unclip my harness from the line and try to
steady myself so I can walk away.

Raft Building
Looking down at the still water, the lake sparkling in the sun. The excitement of building the rafts was noticeable as we walked
down the hill. Barrels and ropes laying on the dusty ground ready to be made into rafts. The splash of the water as others fell in.
Everybody shouting at each other as they made their way to the other side of the lake. The scratchy rope between my fingers
irritated me as we attempted to sail across the lake. The squishy sand beneath are feet felt weird as we fell off the raft. The pain
of pulling yourself up onto the raft as it was sailing out into the lake. After sailing out we were wet and feeling very tired.
